Title: Black Iron Prison
Post by: Faust on January 04, 2023, 08:38:33 AM
Just so you know we've picked up a good bit of extra traffic in the last week or so searches from Black Iron Prison.
I believe its because of a game that has come out called Callisto Protocol, which has its setting named after the same, referencing the Philip K dick Valis one.

If its getting a new generation reading the BIP that's awesome

This is great.  Except for the "new generation" thing, because it occurs to me now that I am ten years older than RAW was when I discovered Discordianism way the hell back in the 80s.

This is BULLSHIT, and was supposed to happen to other people.

THAT ALL BEING SAID, perhaps we should consider putting some new stuff together?  The world has changed in the last 20 years.

I know I've got some things to say.

Things have definitely changed since then.

I've been writing a lot recently. Mostly thinking about how the systems we have taken for granted are choking themselves.

Interesting times.

I'm pretty excited at the prospect of getting some stuff onto YouTube, I think there's some real opportunities there, but I'd love to see where we are at collectively in 2023.

(Good year for an update, too)

If you want to reach new people, video is one of the easiest ways to do it, people love the meaty vlog style vids, or even shorter ones for generation ADD.

I have  BlackIronPrison on the youtube account, its never uploaded anything, but any time anyone wants to put something up please let me know.

BIP 23 (which gives a few years to get something together?)

I have ADHD (and I wish it was a "generation". I might have got diagnosed before age 40) and I bloody hate the tendency for everything to be videos now, especially when I'm looking for a how-to for some quick thing—household fixes, how to do something or other in Photoshop, whatever. Text is skippable, skimmable, reread-particular-bits-without-fiddling-about-able, forget-and-refer-back-to-while-you're-doing-the-thing-able. I don't want to sit still through a 6-minute video and then forget it all immediately, when I could have found and read the relevant bit in 2.

This probably doesn't apply to less immediate and specific stuff like a potential BIP vid though. I liked scribbly's video script in the other thread, and I can see how that being a video could add things that aren't there in the text alone.

Yeah I'm not describing video for video's sake, the ADHD Generation is referring to the fact that the majority of "content" that is consumed at the moment is 12 second clips on TikTok. When I envisaged hellish technology distopia, I never expected the most popular format to be a ytmnd for selfies but here we are

That's an ADHD symptom?
Uh-oh.
