So, it's been a couple years.  I guess P3nt doesn't hang around here much anymore, but, whatever.

Couple of years and anyone not accepting crypto payments will be finding it as hard to turn a trade as anyone not accepting card payments does now. Couple of years. You can hold me to that.
Wrong.  :lulz:

Not only is it unnecessary to accept crypto, but it's still practically impossible to buy anything with it.  Why?  Because no one wants to.  The transaction fees are still absurd, and the very nature of cryptocurrencies ("be your own bank!") means that you're far more susceptible to losing everything to a typo, or having your wallet drained by hackers.  It's harder to use than money in practically every way. Cryptocurrency's main use is as a speculative instrument, and as a means for siphoning funds from Greater Fools.

I've been watching cryptocurrency for the last couple years, doing a bit of research, and I've frankly fallen in love with it.  Not as a store of value, or a means of exchange, but because it's such a hilarious, stupid, obvious disaster.

Bitcoin is burning a vast amount of electricity to achieve a mind-staggeringly abysmal 3 transactions per second.  Blockchain has been dismissed by everyone with an ounce of technical knowledge as useless.  DeFi has never realized its promise of being integrated with global finances; rather, it's only been used to trade shitcoins with other shitcoins, and maybe sell the occasional ugly monkey jpeg.  The layers of scams upon scams transcends Charles Ponzi's wildest dreams.

Over the last several months, all of that is coming to fruition.  Cryptocurrency exchanges are going bankrupt, the biggest fraudsters are being charged and arrested, and governments are stepping in to impose regulations (if not outright ban them).

It will yet take a while for the dust to settle, but settle it will...and then society will move onto a different get-rich-quick scheme.

Anyone holding dynocurrency a couple of years from now is in serious danger of getting burned and, even before then, you're in for a hell of a heatwave.
Also wrong.

It's settling down, reducing in volatility by the minute. Another couple of years and you'd be as well buying bonds.
Well, that aged well.

You think calling yourself a discordian should place you above criticism?  You can spout whatever nonsense you like, and everyone is expected to sit by and nod in silent reverence at your profundity?
Yes.
Wow, you really have no idea what discordianism is, do you?  Discordianism is about criticizing everything, especially itself.  If you cannot step back and see your own dogmas for what they are, then you are as much a cabbage as anyone.

Who cares?  The PD may have been appropriate for the sixties, but that style of "enlightenment" doesn't land well today.
:kingmeh:   You are rejecting something "old" in its own house, for being too old.  You are also rejecting a new religion mod for being too new.
I'm not rejecting PD for being old, I'm rejecting your brain-dead idea that because some book has nonsense in it, that this somehow makes your nonsense worthwhile.

Therefore, yes, Discordians are infallable.
You are obviously fallible (see extensive evidence, above); therefore, you are not discordian.

What if your writing is incoherent to the point of being incomprehensible?  Do you even want to improve your "atrophied forum ability", or is it just an excuse?
Not really.  I may buy a new computer merely to continue this troll argument properly.
Your computer isn't the problem, it's your brain.

I haven't worked in a factory sector,.
Whereof you do not know, thereof you should not speak.
I will address this "im ok, youre not ok" statement.  First of all, I am a Discordian and this is a Discordian forum.

"Discordians should not talk about things they dont know much about."   The Principia Discordia is full of nonsense the authors didn't know much about,
Who cares?  The PD may have been appropriate for the sixties, but that style of "enlightenment" doesn't land well today.

Principia Discordia is easier with this than other religions, because it doesnt have rules.
Wrong.  Discordianism has rules.  I should know, I'm the Pope.

Here for example, my forum ability is severely atrophied from what it was years ago on other forums, both in my attitude and in the hardware.
You're the only person I've ever met who used "atrophied forum ability" as an excuse for being wrong.

I feel an utter lack of interest in correcting grammar.

I apologize for what might appear as forum illiteracy.  I am typing on touchscreen keyboard and have many computer problems.
I'm posting from an ice dimension via 300 baud modem.  altered writes on demonskin parchment using illithid blood and molten tungsten for ink.  Her pen is the screams of a thousand dying suns.

You can hardly ascribe the quality of your posts to the method of entry.

Establishing friendly trade relations with a former enemy or potential adversary doesn't put you in a position to exert a positive influence; it makes you more vulnerable.  It's like having kids because you think it will save the marriage.

The shredder bin is full of indispensable trade contracts.

Never start a proxy war with yourself as the proxy.

They were wiped out, they just weren't fully extinguished
After you first said they were wiped out, you were surprised when when I told you the real population numbers.  But now you're doubling down, and pretending that "wiped out" means something other than "destroyed completely".  Or does "wiped out" have a different connotation in your dialect of English?  Maybe next time say "the population was devastated" instead.

Speaking of matters of which you are unaware would seem to be a problem.

The bottom line is the Canadian government made a wholly inadequate token gesture and then had to be forced via legal means to meet its obligation, which I saw as a recent development based on the news story from last week.
That is arguably true.  Perhaps you understand why this is a sensitive issue domestically, and why misinformation might provoke a reaction?

Your specific claims have been that the indigenous were wiped out; that wrongdoing wasn't acknowledged until five years ago; and that the apology was disjoint from any attempt at reparation, adequate or otherwise.

Those claims were false.

I know a fair amount of indigenous people from the Kettle Point reservation, but never heard a single one ever mention receiving any reparation payments… maybe they just don’t talk about it to me, since… you know. But some of the houses there sure don’t look like they are getting much from the government.
Those are the "Common Experience Payments" in the link I posted.  I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't enough to noticeably improve conditions for the recipients; I was just snapping back at Faust's "as long as there is absolutely no talk of reparation" comment.

There are plenty of real criticisms to be levied at Canada's treatment of the indigenous, without making up new ones.

Why would I read a British Tabloid? I was reading this last week, has there been a scheme for redress available before it?

That's what I just said.  There was a settlement agreement in 2007.  https://www.rcaanc-cirnac.gc.ca/eng/1100100015576/1571581687074
The then-prime minister issued an apology in 2008, not this "5 years ago" you guessed at.

This isn't some new thing that suddenly showed up last week.

Fair, wasnt it was only in the last 5 years they acknowledged the schools taking native American kids, changing their names and completely hiding their heritage, not to mention lots and lots of them died. But they have taken an official stance on that now accepting wrongdoing (as long as there is absolutely no talk of reparation)
What on earth are you talking about?  Survivors of residential schools have been eligible for reparation payments since 2007.  Are you just making shit up, or did you read this in some British tabloid?

Apologies yeah I was reading a more reactionary take on it,Canada is gradually becoming more and more right wing and yes did wipe out the indigenous people.
Not to whitewash the atrocities committed, or anything, but there are 1.8 million indigenous living in Canada, about 5% of the population.  Their cultural history has been decimated, but they haven't been wiped out.

I'm not sure where you got that from.  Canada's rate of medical malpractice lawsuits is a fraction of the US, and the payouts are much lower.  We have more in common with Europe.  Who are you comparing us to?
