I've been in a little box for the last month or so, engaged in all sort of frivolity in a myriad of different online roleplaying games. "Anarchy Online", "Guild Wars" and "City of Heroes" have stolen my soul, and refuse to give it back.

Regardless, I was able to pull my brain out of the computer long enough to watch a little news lately, just long enough it seems to be inundated by news of Terri Schiavo's death this morning.

"Great, she's dead. Good for her," I thought. That was a sucky way to die, but at least she's not locked in that shell any longer, if she really was at all. Personally, I don't give a fuck about the debate regarding how 'aware' she really was for the last 15 years, but I understand a lot of other people have made it a goddamn business, debating this topic.

I understand Congress has little else to do, now that Bush & Co. runs the world with a Fist of Stupidity, but they actually took the time to involve themselves in this? Not to mention the fucking Supreme Court looked at the case not once but twice?

I'm sure that I'm preaching to the choir on this, but what the fuck is the Federal Government doing intruding on what is by definition a State-issue? Sure, Michael Schiavo was a complete fucktard, and I'm sure he just wanted to off his wife, so he could spend her cash and marry his longtime girlfriend.

Unfortunately, being a complete dick does not vacate your marital rights, and thus this whole issue should have been resolved years ago. Instead, Terri's family were given special privledge to continue this battle up to the Supreme Court (again), and in my opinion only managed to prolong her suffering. Maybe they did it for the right reasons, or maybe they just wanted to get control of her money. Who knows?

The point is, I go to watch some news today (for the first time in probably months), and all I see is Terri Schiavo and/or Michael Jackson. Fox News actually had a helicopter showing the coroner's van delivering her body to the morgue, as though this were some freaking 100+ mph police-chase!

The media is really pissing me off, in regards to this. Don't they have anything better to do, than report on this woman's death (who probably lived 14.5 years longer than she should have in the first place)? I'm sure there are many Bushie abuses of power that are just waiting to be exposed, but that would be asking too much of our media, wouldn't it? They are all about 'entertainment' and bootlicking now, not real reporting.

In closing, let me point out some entertainment venues which might serve you better than watching the tripe that calls itself TV today:

1) Go to the resting places of the Founding Fathers, and watch their tombs shake as they spin in their collective graves.

2) Go find a sock-puppet and... well... you get the idea. It would certainly be more newsworthy than anything the cable news networks spew out anymore!

As for me, I'm going back to my MMORPGs. They're a damn sight more interesting than the world I actually live in!

Not a bad location (NoCal) to choose, especially considering that a short trip south to SoCal, or north to Oregon, let alone east to Nevada, provides ample opportunities for mindfuck-fun. Personally, I think the denizens of southern Oregon make the best targets for this activity, but I used to live in that inbred morass of sub-humanity, so it holds an especially-dark place in my heart.

But that's neither here nor there.

No offense, Zurtok, but you are in Utah. What the fuck did you expect from these people? I'm in Oregon, and although it has been many a year since I walked a college campus, I understand your frustration. Maybe it is the same everywhere, but it seems as though the western US is full of mindless sheep, even in places where you'd expect to see them the least.

Quit whining and try stepping up to the plate, Bucko. Or do you consider the folks you listed above to be here merely for your fucking entertainment?

I think he did.  Look at the Night Shift thread.
Actually, he said a good rant. I read the Night Shift "rant", and wasn't mightily impressed with it. As a night worker myself, I know enough to avoid the giant rats, and get a job where I get paid well to do absolutely nothing of worth. We watch a lot of movies on the companies' dime.

As to the lack of Rants here lately, I have noticed this, and should probably step up myself to attempt to make some drivel into a relatively coherant post. Alas, I find that much of my vitriol is wasted on the conservatards at Internet Messiah Forums, stirring those fuckers up (especially VoT). Seems the only things really pissing me off of late is political bullshit, and as I recall, the last time I tried to stir that pot here, I was derided for that.

... Then again, I did pretty much also call the folks here a bunch of Eunuchs, so I guess the derision was deserved...

Point is, when something really gets me going, I'll post a Rant. Otherwise, the effort is wasted, because what would come out would pretty much suck.

Or Kill Me / the DMV: being stuck in the mud
February 16, 2005, 04:38:51 PM
Hmmm... The last time I went to the local DMV office, I found they had stationed a clerk at a desk by the door, in addition to the normal clerks in their usual positions. This special door-clerk was there solely to collect forms from people who think ahead and do all of the paperwork they need done ahead of time, and to tell everyone else where they can shove their incomplete paperwork.

I handed her my completed accident report, she stamped it and actually smiled at me. I was probably the first person she'd actually been able to assist properly all day. The clerk told me "Have a nice day!", and I thanked her and left.

Total time in the building: 20 seconds.

Or Kill Me / NAFR Jihad Sermon Eight
February 04, 2005, 01:46:25 AM
My co-worker escaped from Utah about a year ago... She has some interesting stories to tell about that place.

Now, when I think of Utah, I think of a wide expanse full of desert, Mormons and polygamy. Turns out that isn't so. Yes, they have a lot of Mormons, but it isn't just a huge desert... and as for the guys with multiple wives, if you really want to see some of that action, you need to go to Northern Arizona.

 <--- That's how I looked, when I first heard the term "Sister-Wife"

I'm glad that works for you, but it would never fly with my nieces and nephews. Demon children, for the most part. I refuse to babysit any of those kids, simply because they won't listen at all. You are forced to either stick 'em in a corner or (last resort) swat 'em on the hind-end.

Yes, my family is evil on a genetic level. I'm just glad I don't have to raise a "Little Me", like my brethren do.
