I don't dislike you, Cram, it's just that your business methods are unscrupulous, and you teach people that it's okay to have an MBA.

I wish you'd stop harassing people about their Micro Ball Awards though. The institute has been trying to comfort these people by giving them awards. They have nothing else but their tiny, tiny, award winning balls.

Literate Chaotic / Chao Te Ching cited in book about HERESY
« on: April 16, 2021, 03:42:25 pm »
Hey LMNO & Friends, check this out:

A recent academic paper, Immanent eschaton, Discordian and Deleuzian dissimulations of the Goddess, by Benjamin J. Austin, cites our very own Chao Te Ching.

The paper is published in the book Heresy and Borders in the Twentieth Century (Routledge Studies in Religion)

The paper contains this section:

the citation:

placid dingo is cited too! Citation #30:

I've attached the paper itself, in case anyone is curious

Hey, I'm new. Well, I've lurked here on and off for a while, but new to saying anything (not that I'm likely to say very much, I suspect).
I found discordia five or six years ago, thought it was funny, and kept coming back to it for some reason. I have trouble expressing why it seems important, maybe I'm just scared of never doing anything that matters.
At the moment I'm into theoretical computer science and stories that are wholly metaphorical, but part of why I'm here (other than probably needing to get some social interaction somewhere) is that I keep running into the same ideas and it seems like being here might make it harder to let myself get stuck.

As far as recipes go, all I've really got to share is my housemate's halloween drink, consisting of lemon juice, sugar, peach schnapps, green food colouring and as much shredded mint as will fit in the bottle.

welcome!

you say you keep coming back to Discordia, but why? what's next? what's it leading you to?
you're right that it's more than just a ha-ha --- but what else? we desperately need new popes to tell us

Welcome to the time sump.  There's a ton of short fiction, a novel or two, enough recipes to give you gout, and we have a Cramulus issue.

you have a cramulus issue, old man  :argh!:

I have a Cramulus SOLUTION

I asked Drill - he said that HTML is the preference.

Thanks Rog!

Posted on behalf of Drill, one of the r/Discordian collective:

Calling all creative spags, again!
We're putting together an Intermittens (a web-published magazine of Eristic a-musings), and we could use your help to do it!

The theme this time is road trips and travel, both literal and metaphorical.  We're taking a pilgrimage to a holy site that may or may not exist yet.  The hope is this will be a more contemplative counterpart to the previous edition's hellraising.

Send submissions to me over DM,
intermittens.submissions@protonmail.com or find us on discord: https://discord.gg/fyD675ZEb7

Submission deadline is 50 Discord 3187 (3 May 2021). Late submissions may be accepted, but don't count on it!

All work must be released under a CC-BY-SA 4.0 license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/).

Please keep submissions to at most five pages, unless you want to send us a collection of junk to pick and choose from like a hotel breakfast buffet

Discordian Recipes / Re: the fuck is briping?

I love the idea of brewing a single mouthful of coffee at a time. And you have to drink it through a straw, so there's a great chance you're going to burn your mouth on that first sip.

it's so much work and patience... for basically no payoff.

really, a perfect 2021 hobby

Hey newcomer.

Since you mentioned Zen Without Zen Masters, I wanted to mention -- I've got a discordian cabal that meets on Discord, and next Wednesday (April 21) we're going to meet at 8PM EST to discuss Zen Without Zen Masters.

We're all going to try one or two meditations from the book and then discuss our experiences. We've been doing these biweekly "potluck club" meetings where we each bring our perspective and research about a topic, and try to jam it together until we've figured something out.

hit me up via PM if you want an invite (that goes for anyone!)

It was, as a friend put it, the polar opposite of the Apollo program.

Hey Gav! I think I'm overdue for getting some of this stuff.

What's the difference between the Apple of Discord Enamel and the Apple of Discord Gold Enamel pins?

is the 'gold enamel' the one on the right?

Literally like 90% of what you stated is why I love classic World of Darkness stuff. I always love it when an ST lets the players hold-my-beer their talents and skills through wildly out-of-context situations. Three points in Drive, you can PROBABLY bullshit your way through flying a helicopter if you’re real fucking lucky and can drop some “seems legit” details for bonus dice (my old circles shamelessly stole Exalted stunt dice for the purpose).

I've got this tabletop called Troika! that I can't wait to run. A lot of that game seems to be about bullshitting your skills. Like, you're trying to get into this cave, but a giant is sitting on the ground completely blocking the path, sucking his thumb. How do you get past him? Your skills are:

-A "Beer goggles" style spell that makes the world seem chill and cool
-The ability to summon birds
-Advanced Accounting

figure it out!
