Alec Baldwin could be the next US actor to enter politics after saying he was giving "serious thought" to running for Congress.
The film and TV star told Playboy magazine that he was determined to run for office, but a lot depended on whether he'd be given the opportunity.
He said: "The desire is there; that's one component. The other component is opportunity."
In his blog for political website The Huffington Post, Alec denied speculation that he was preparing to run against former vice presidential candidate Joe Lieberman.
He told the magazine that he would love to run against Mr Lieberman, but added that at this stage it was "all fantasy".

Does this mean the terrorists win?

A new study showed that the number of Southern Baptists will be less than half what it is now in roughly 40 years. That's a huge chunk of their voting bloc right there. The Republican party will either implode with a whimper or find a way to appeal to Hispanics.

That's because 70% of southern baptists will be dead within the next 20 years, along with almost all the other baby boomers.

Oh, there's no shortage of Baptists in the generation following the boomers (ie, mine). 

That's surprising, considering the looney bin of a southern baptist convention church I was "raised" in maintained maybe 3 of the younger members through the years. All the others got smart, or got arrested.

Palin is and was nothing more than a revival tent preacher.  She preaches to the converted, and does so in a way that alienates everyone else.  

She's the "anti-Reagan".

Fair enough, but I was honestly afraid of her just for the sake most of the standard conservatives I associate on an every day basis with through work/school went from normal nutjobs to almost cult like behavior regarding her.

Example, my boss used to say to me, "I don't understand what you have against Palin, I think she's dreamy". That's fucking scary.

Perhaps charisma was a bad choice of words. What I was really trying to say was "could effectively mobilize the religious right into bombing some abortion clinics and gay clubs better than previous candidates."

Bullshit.  Her "charisma" consisted of saying what the base wanted to hear.  She was incapable of anything else.  That's why McCain lost the election.

I'm just speaking of what I saw in the reaction of this red state. All the fundies thought she was the new messiah, the ideal conservative christian candidate.

They even forgave having the knocked up daughter, assuming it was just the typical baptist shotgun wedding scenario.

Well, Da6s, the GOP tolerates no failure.  Well, they do, they just wait 10 years and bring you back (see Gingrich, Newt).

Yeah, I'm just surprised they're already doing this. Despite being a fucking psycho, she had the most charisma of any potential candidate they've had since Reagan.
