my totally badass title for my combination gamedev/relaxation colouring book, i don't stress out too much about wrong lines or wobbles because chill is more important in that process - i only titled it after the following image starting challenging my brain in ways i didn't like. it took four days of looking at it in different short sessions before the mounting feeling of discomfort and growing fear didn't quickly stress me a headache. and then it struck me that i was looking at the opposite of sacred geometry which makes complexity a calming canvas for infinite interpretations - it isn't symmetrical, tidy.. it didn't make me feel clever because it hinted at a pattern i couldn't quite see.. so no expected dopamine rush..  and just uncomfortable for my brain to deal with.

i still haven't figured out the algorithm, though i figured out today, there must be an algorithm, but my suspicion is that the image stopped hurting my brain i only after new neural connections formed in response to it. which would mean my brain:
a) not only figured it out
b) isn't telling me the answer

ooh, i miss playing with loops! what sort of feedback are you looking for? i listened to a bunch, but my pattern tended to giving the first 20% a try, then skipping to 40-60-80%. most of what i listened to seems like a good fit for live venue/bar/wedding/etc - it can be background, while still amusing those who pay attention. i like how inventive and ranged it is - the acoustic guitar with synth accompaniment took me by surprise

my attention span is shot, so i liked some of the shorts - they made me laugh - but with that in mind i feel that maybe with the single loop deck you might be getting locked into the base layers, which makes a transition/bridge/something to break it up harder

my son is 14 now and likes to shock me. good old non-consensual mind fucks. sometimes it's a tiktok from the "online meth lifestyle" showing someone lighting up, sometimes it's violent images of death, he introduced me to Jack Stauber. last year he asked for a lifesize cardboard cutout of putin as a gift for the holidays - um, sure i think i can arrange that, but.. may i ask why - to watch me sleep

one of his favourite pastimes lately is "old person twitter". um.. ? so apparently kids find it just hilarious how the first dinosaurs of the internet spend a painful chunk of their lives sharing memes of rotary telephones with some shade-infused variety of whine about how young folx don't venerate the obsolete references they choose to still identify by. you know that "typical kid on a bench on a beautiful day, just glued to their phone when they should be... (insert old person perspective)" meme? ya - he's stored a whole collection of that on his phone just for the hypocrisy lulz.

the young are going to eat the skin off our bones. their anger is a righteous rabbit hole sharpened tooth maw of fractillian dimensions - and their love - even more infinite.

but nostalgia is an industry. there's never an end to what will become nostalgic. the dopamine cycle fueled by dollars and common sense.

i think this meme is effective because it is sharp with multiple "wtf" elements to capture attention, while remaining short - and the red flag heroin reference to an audience already tuned into receiving memes about "old people" and "old person drugs" has the potential to hurt because any change has the potential to be unpredictably hurtful, and this i think is a truth most minds mired in nostalgia - the "old person twitter" demographic - have never spent much time considering worth spending much time considering.

and the only truth really is that we dig for ourselves

if it's possible to have empathy at all for trump, i then i allow myself to feel this - there's an entropic poignancy always when measuring yourself against your role models and coming up short - and at least Hitler successfully stole an election
