Title: "Black Iron Prison - Anyone know what they're talking about?"
Post by: Cramulus on April 16, 2010, 11:48:56 PM
I'm going to collect some links where people on the web have referenced the BIP

I know there's at least two threads of this stuff already but I can't find them for the life of me.

http://www.babylonproject.org/mission.html

Quote-The Babylon Project is a conspiracy to create a psychological Joy-virus with which to infect Babylon's reality tunnel, by presenting it with something it can neither ignore nor integrate, at least without unraveling permanently, thereby contributing to the global shift in consciousness.
-We define the Empire, Babylon, as a global way of apprehending the world and our place in it, which pervades the social systems on this planet breeding alienation, intolerance, fear, greed, violence, exploitation and sheer misery. We therefore define Babylon as a reality tunnel because it is a network of relations, a socially constructed restrictive mental matrix. It isn't a totalitarian system forced on us from without. It's something we do to ourselves, the immature doings of Homo ignoramus. And definitely not something you can attack with guns (we are, we hasten to add, not in the violence business).

-The project aims to liberate as many minds from incarceration in the Black Iron Prison that is Babylon, restoring their creative control on reality (or total lack thereof, each to his or her own) and to provide us all with a communal creative outlet.

this wikipedia user (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ian.thomson) identifies as a discordian.

QuoteI am a Discordian Pope, even though I am not a Discordian. I will excommunicate any Discordian that says this is not possible, de-excommunicate those excommunicated for accepting this as so, re-excommunicate those de-excommunicated for saying this is not possible, re-re-excommunicate those de-excommunicated that I previously excommunicated, re-de-excommunicate and de-re-excommunicate those excommunicated for being de-excommunicated by me, and on and on. I also call no-excommuncation-back-sies, nyany nyany boo boo. Fried hallibut.

great line here:

QuoteIt must not be fought because fighting against that Black Iron Prison only makes you a guard in it.

QuoteDiscordian Library Now Online!

For those who might be interested, I've just put most of the contents of my Discordian library up online for download. You can find it at http://sockmonkeycabal.info/?page_id=35. If you haven't read any of them before, I would suggest starting with Principia Discordia, if you've read that, then use your best judgement for what order you read the rest in. I also highly recommend The Black Iron Prison. Enjoy!

Hm, you know, this makes me think. Whenever a n00b signs on and talks about the BIP, it's criticism. Could it be that the people that like it just feel like they don't have much to add and therefore not come over here to talk about it?

It's refreshing to hear some positive sounds about it, anyway,.
