yeah, but it's pointless to try to change them. One day they'll wake up to find their streets running with blood, and hopefully they won't have totally forgotten all the relevant things thay may have learned. Or they'll just be slowly reabsorbed by the Machine(tm) without ever even noticing it. As long as you and I make sure to look out for you and I, we'll come out OK no matter what happens.

No, they won't.  Slowly, but surely, their streets will fill up with marching boots.

"Activities" like pie and cookies will be smiled upon by the powers that be, as harmless and distracting.

yes, I imagine your choice in careers is indicative of your paralyzing inability to deal head on with conflict. Just remember, when we rebuild, people who hid in the sewers during the bloodshed won't be welcome.

Unless they're hot girls, of course.

BS,
wonders if you really thought you could just make personal attacks on me and then pretend it didn't happen

I will refuse to fight their way, and instead confuse them into paralysis with pie and ponies and accordion music and whatever else I need to do to make them snap out of it. Because you know, when it all comes crashing down, it's going to be hella hard to find a functioning hospital should I need limbs re-attached.

At the end of the day, posting on a forum results in posts on a forum...and not much else.  It's recreation.  His obsession with "winning" arguments can't be healthy.

I don't usualy post this way, but:

Scribe:  What do you have against Pie and Cookies and how many times do we have to have this argument?  If you want to talk about something else, start a thread that does not include the phrase, "pie and cookies"

Bathory's Sainthood:  How are you going to make the streets run with blood?  You couldn't even cover your own ass while taking down the Mirror.  You broke all your own rules about covert ops.  You made it such an overt op that the rest of us may not be able to even lurk, let alone post or try another take down  :?

Ghost In The Machine:  Yes, we will distract them with baked goods while the real work goes on hidden.

Bathory's Sainthood: Shitty jobs often pay well because no one wants to do them.  Especially the necessary ones.  Get your head out of your ass.

Man:  This is the first Discordian post on this thread 8)

AC as usual is my hero, thanks for being one of the best Discordians here.  Keep up the good work.   8)

just sayin.

persoanlly i think cookies and pie is more valid than whining about what's already in mainstream newspapers across the world, on a disocrdian forum that's not necessarily a poltical forum. people's hatred of bush is stupider than his pronounciation of nuklear, and less funny than soemthing that is totally not funny. it was old in '03, it lost your fool dems the fool election, and those of us who don't live in your america don't necessarily care. why dont' we talk abotu candian politics? or english ones? let's talk abotu the tony blair sex scandal, or how the ad scam pres. guy collapsed on the stand yesterday, or about how american grain companies have huge surprluses of food, but watch small children in african antions die from starvaton? if you want to talk serious, there are tonnes more important things than your stoopid motherfucking bush to talk about, mroe important than your stoopid motherfucking american politics. you wanna talk about how the republican neocons are poised to tear apart pristine wilderness? the lets talk about how your precious democrats started it in the clinton era. you wanna talk abotu economic collpase? let's talk about when enron ceo's learned to cook books an dwhen the .com bubble burst thanks to coporate freindly democratic laws. politiics is by far stoopider than motherfuckin cookies and pie.

I like pies and cookies, too. I fucking hate unicorns and pink fluffy clouds and ponies, etc. But I like to eat sweet things like cake and pie and cookies. So what? I'll talk about whatever I want whenever I want and sarcasm is wasted on me in my current state of mind.

I think this board normally maintains a pretty good balance. There are times when everyone is talking only fluff and that drives me up the wall, but there are other times when it's all serious and that also makes me nuts. So what? It doesn't matter if I like it or not and it all evens out again eventually.

Jeez, I really need to go work out or something. Those assholes at the mirror have totally pissed me off.

Oh bloody hell, this again?

Team A likes cookies and pie. And being subversivly nice. But not Unicorns. That's good.

Team B likes social discord and political chaos. And bringing the system down from within. And streets running with blood. And teaching sewer workers about the "with us or against us" communistic discordian mentality. Peachy.

Somewhere in the middle lies most of us, using both tactics where needed and keeping on and trying to duck the flung shit that surrounds this place.

And every once in awhile (like all the farking time), the two teams turn to each other and snipe. And nit pick. And spout nonesense.

It's very simple. Here's what it boils down to.

People here know their choices. They've made them. Don't. Fucking. Judge. Your. Friends. If they like cookies and pie, fine! That doesn't hurt you any, now does it? They're still your friends, right? You're not really shallow enough to burn your bridges with them over this, are you?

If you went to an X-tian forum and saw posts titled "You're not real christians because you don't do missions", you'd laugh your arse off and in between chocking gasps of laughter mutter something about "Thou shalt not judge."

Why's it different in this case? As the old saying goes, you can bring a cookie and pie discordian to read political rants, but you can't make him wade in the blood of the unjust.

etc, etc, etc, I need a nap.

Don't let the anti-pie fascism of team B get to you. Deep down both sides are all just cuddly pink marshmallow bunnies with really bad attention spans.

And whether people admit it or not, there's room for all points of view here if you're willing to be stubborn about them and back them up.

Sure.  It's just sad to watch this forum descend into the same bickering and hatefulness you see on every other forum on the internet.

IMO, Roger, BS, and Horab need to chill out.  And the rest of us need to stop fueling the fire.  Here's an idea; we all ignore the hateful posts, and let them wither on the vine.  If we don't encourage that kind of post, the people responsible might just start posting something interesting to gain attention.

They will, believe me. I've seen it time and time again. A certain amount of tension builds, and people have to let off some steam before things get back to normal. That includes the people who fan the flames. They're all a part of it as a whole. Different cast, same thing. Human nature.

Things will go bakc to normal for a time, and then the cycle begins anew. It's the price you pay for having so many stubborn and witty and cantankarous and bright people all jammed together.

Although sometimes it gets more serious (like this time) and there're personal feelings and vendettas involved. I try not to get too involved, because I know that there's more going on behind the scenes than we realize.

You have to understand that many of the people here know each other IRL. If you got caught in the cross fire, then I for one will apologize and hope you don't think that we're usually this rude to bystanders.

But I get the sense that you're a lurker or previous poster, so I might be stating the obvious here.

I'm sorry to hear that. You're missing out.

Or you will be soon. You'll see.

Hey, are one of the lurkers that refused my calling out game? I'll have to tax you for that. It's a rule

Scribe, I think part of the problem is that it isn't just a forum to some. We meet people from here, interact with them in other ways... so when someone posts something rude on this board, it goes from the realm of words on a screen to become a personal violation with repercussions. I think that this time it went too far on a personal note, but what can you do? Things will work themselves out how they will, and hopefully no one burns their bridges for good.

Yeah...my boss says the same thing.

Besides, don't you have to say it five times to actually invoke anything?

(Um, sorry, that should've gone in the "Things you don't want to hear a Chaos Magician say" thread. :D)

Sure, and I'll even use small words:

This thread was a waste of time.  From now on, I'll just scan the icons and make sure I'm not reading posts made by anyone that I already know has nothing worthwhile to say.

"Worthwhile" wasn't too big a word, was it?  I mean, I know it has a lot of letters and stuff...

EraPassing,

Where've you been?  I've engaged in several debates on this board.  I haven't had much to say lately, of course, but that's because there's been nothing to say.  I totally empathize with Rog's pie and cookie rant.

Lately I've been refraining from talking much on the board because there's nothing to say.  Except today, when I got fed up.
And guess what?  As you've pointed out to me in the past, it's an open forum.  That means I get to make whatever comments I want to and there's dick-all you can do about it.  Same as everyone else on this board.

I think you missed Hoshi's point.  Correct me if I am wrong Hoshi, but I think you meant that Era argues a lot, debates a lot, but does not necessarily have any great insights, even though she thinks she does.  Era, I have seen you argue for days about something, never adding anything new, just to argue.  To me, cookies and pies for the sake of fun is better than arguing for the sake of arguing.  After everyone has made their point, it doesn't make sense to keep saying the same things over and over

PS I wasn't going to say anything, I was going to let it go, but I had to answer out in the open, I have seen how nasty you get when you think people are talking about you behind your back

Post by: Hoshiko on March 22, 2005, 09:30:21 PM
I like cookies a lot, thanks.

You've engaged in several debates. Bully for you. Engaging in debates is not the same thing as writing things of substence and value and putting your views out there in the form of original posts. Commenting is easier than originating. I'm well aware that I tend to fall into the "will debate for cred" category if I'm not careful, so I try to avoid criticizing those who have the guts to write rants, epistles, original thoughts, etc.

And if I do, I make damn sure I have a good reason for doing so beyond a sense of entitlement and boredom.

Quotethat's because there's been nothing to say. I totally empathize with Rog's pie and cookie rant.

Not true. We've all managed to say quite a bit without your imput. I'm sorry if it's not quite up to your lofty standards.

We've BEEN through the cookie and pie thing. Roger's rant was repetitive. He might feel that it's not the right path for him, but he (and others) keep using it as an excuse to attack people and I'm getting damn sick of it. I thought his recent cookie and pie persona was amusing and I got the intent behind it. I've seen a lot of improvement lately in how people approach this debate and I was liking the progress, until certain people feel the need to go over the same hashed-over ground again and again.

If there's a reason this board is deteriorating (which is yet to be proven to my satisfaction), it's because of people being LAZY and using cookie and pie rants as an excuse to nitpick and sit on their asses. Don't like cookie and pie? Drown it out with substence. But pointless bitching over the same, tired points gets us nowhere, and it's a million times worse than what you're railing against.

QuoteAs you've pointed out to me in the past, it's an open forum. That means I get to make whatever comments I want to and there's dick-all you can do about it. Same as everyone else on this board.

Oh, I know that. I wouldn't have it any other way. But your comment was a direct insult to me and those who posted to this thread, most of which have contributed more in the past 3 months than I've seen you contribute in a year. I had no beef with you prior to this, and I don't know why you insist on acting as though we're all against you. You only hurt yourself.

I think I've been very patient and nice about this in the past, and I don't talk shit for fun. But it's posts like yours that hurt this board more than cookies and pie ever will.

Do you need a hug? Is that what this is?
