OMG! Did I neglect to pass this one out?

For ease of transportation, etc... http://www.scribd.com/doc/27611396/Principia-Discordia-1st-Edition

The http://www.poee.co.uk downloads area is currently being repaired. there's a ton of shit in there too.

Hi St. Syn, I've been browsing around PD forums and noticed the so-called 1st version listed above. However, it's not anywhere close to the first edition, although it contains some excerpts from the 1st PD. The second part, The Appendix Discordia are materials Jon Swabey posted for me back in the day and bear no relation, really, to PD1...Greg Hill's archives were passed on to me a couple years back and I've been busy readying parts of the archives for various book projects, one of which will be a facsimile of the fabled 1st edition...what you posted only muddies the waters, unfortunately...it's really just a mish mash of things, some of which have been modified, it appears...but of course I know the Goddess works in mysterious ways!

Ok... I can change the titles of them for my mirror of the library,

So the file first edition should be called?

And the fourth edition should be 6th right?

Well, I'm not sure how you would title the faux first edition. It is basically some excerpts from the 1st edition, and  other stuff mixed in, some of which has been modified. The second half of the book, the appendix, are materials that were lifted from the site Jon Swabey and I put together, without any attribution or notification. That's why it's a bit frustrating and perplexing to see how this all got mashed together and is now being presented as the 1st PD. I wouldn't begin to know what to call it.

As for the publication history of the PD, here is an excerpt from my forthcoming book on the History of Discordianism. It explains more about the fourth edition:

1st edition, subtitled Or How The West Was Lost, published in New Orleans, 1965, consisting of five copies.

2nd edition, 100 copies, Los Angeles, 1969

3rd edition, 500 copies, Tampa, 1969

4th edition, San Francisco, March 1970

5th Edition, subtitled A Caterpillar's Praise To The Butterfly, Or Final Statement of Malaclypse The Younger -- which consisted of a cover page, and a Western Union telegram page filled with the letter M -- inserted into the 4th edition PD as an addendum.

   Other later, and notable, editions...

   * Loompanics Unlimited edition

Two different versions of the Loompanics edition were published. The first, with a white cover, in September 1978

A second edition, published in 1980, featured a yellow cover, with a different cover illustration than the 1978 edition, and included an introduction by Robert Anton Wilson. Greg Hill oversaw the production of these two editions which, in essence, were reproductions of the 4th edition PD, but with different covers.

Hello all!

I am fairly new here and intro'd myself in the Introduction thread on this board. I have made a new website which I have links to a bunch of Discordian Texts which I have found from info on this site and others. However it seems to require javascript which I was not aware of. So I am providing the links to all the books below and I will continually modify this post to reflect any additions to the list.

There will also be some miscellaneous documents as well but right now it is just a bunch of books and a couple pamphlets. I don't believe anything here is violating copyright but if so I apologize in advance. Just let me know which are problematic and I will remove the link from this post. In any case, all the links work as far as I know and you can download to your hearts content. All files are PDF's or JPG's.

If for some reason something doesn't work or if you know of a book you want me to add, please let me know and I will remedy/add it asap.

Thank you to hirley0 for helping me fix the links and the suggestion of including the file size next to each. Sorry I didn't think of that before.  :fnord:

Principia Discordia 1st edition (4.6 MB)
Principia Discordia 4th Edition (9.2 MB)

(Edited to sticky - Dok)

Hi folks, just for the record that is not the 1st edition of the Principia listed. The first part displays about a quarter of the material actually in PD 1. The second part, the appendix, is material lifted from a short lived site that Jon Swabey put together with me. It would be much appreciated, by your humbler author, that the appendix not be published in this manner, as it  includes some of the materials that will appear in my forthcoming Discordianism History project...other than that, I'm not gonna make a big beef about it, as I understand how our boys (Mal and Omar) were into Kopyleft...my concern is that it is unfortunately presented in a manner not consistent with when the materials originally appeared, and that none of it is explained or put into context. Hail Eris, I guess.

And technically, that's not the fourth edition, either... I'm currently working with two different publishers to bring out facsimiles of the 1st and 4th editions, and I also have the original pasteups Greg Hill made for the 4th edition, which we are currently figuring out how to display to the public.

The Loompanics edition is really the 6th edition. It gets a little complicated, but will all be explained in my Discordian History book project.

Turns out Syn put a PDF version of the PD1 on Scribd

http://www.scribd.com/doc/27611396/Principia-Discordia-1st-Edition

I still don't understand how there can be a twelve in the ODD#, though.

Hi folks,

I have a copy of the 1st edition of The Principia Discordia. It was Greg Hill's copy that was passed on to me, and it is nothing like what is posted at the above link, which is kind of a smattering of a few things from the 1st edition, mixed up with some other archival Discordian material Dr. Jon posted back in the day, and then later I asked him to do me a favor and take it down, which he did, as it will be among of the material in the History of Discordianism book I am working on...my reason for having the material taken down is that I didn't want to have it coopted and then presented in a form that was not in context with how the material was originally presented ...anywho, the numbering system was NOT in place during the first edition, except on a couple pages in the back of the book....

oh and thanks for the props, Cramulus.

well,I think I have a line on the 2nd and 3rd....but pose a question to Discordians: I should have known better....But all seriousness aside, if anyone has anything of substance on 2 and 3, let me know, just trying to confirm a few things....re:contents, cover, etc....

Greg Hill was quite real. More details to follow in a book one of these days. I've seen multiple pics. 2 are in my Prankster book. I know many people who knew and loved him. So there.

Does any one have any details on the 2rd and 3rd edition of the Principia?
