High Weirdness / Dracula May Have Wept Blood

"Dracula may have wept blood on tear-stained letters, chemical analysis reveals"

I bookmarked this article last month, but hadn't had time to read it until today. Anyway, as per the article:

"New research published this month in the journal Analytical Chemistry details how an innovative protein analysis technique has uncovered a rich bevvy of biochemical evidence about the life and health of the most famous (alleged) vampire in history — indeed, the inspiration for Count Dracula himself.

His sweating fist cantering across the surface of Romanian rag paper in swooping lines of 15th Century Latin as steadily as his armies swept through the Carpathian mountains, we know for certain that Vlad Drăculea — merciless defender of Wallachia, harbinger of an estimated 80,000 deaths — wept and bled into the very ink of his hand-written letters. But now it seems that Vlad the Impaler, namesake of Bram Stoker's 1897 epistolary horror, may have even wept literal tears of blood, as described in the oldest stories about him."

"House Republicans aren’t done slashing food assistance and fighting over social issues"

As per the article:

"After clamping down on food stamps in the debt ceiling deal, House Republicans now want to take a whack at WIC, the food assistance program for low-income women, infants and young children.
GOP lawmakers have proposed curtailing funding for WIC in the chamber’s version of the US Department of Agriculture’s annual spending bill. The legislation could force some families to wait for aid for the first time in years, as well as limit their ability to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.

It’s among the party’s latest efforts to cut federal spending by limiting benefits, reducing enrollment and adding work requirements to the nation’s safety net."

Nothing more clearly shows The Republiculttm is the willing tool of the oligarchs than this type of legislation. Tax cuts are more important to THEM than feeding poor women and their children.

Here's the link:

This doesn't have anything to do with tax cuts, making sure poor people starve is important to their agenda, tax cuts are too, and they will sometimes pretend starving poor people is to make them possible.

Some of the low and mid-level MAGAt cultists I have the misfortune of knowing are into this type of intentional cruelty. I suspect the oligarchs make good use of those members inclinations, when selling their tax cuts to The Republicult™. Then again, the oligarchs don't really need to make much of a sales pitch to the cultists when it comes to tax cuts. So, that really does make the intentional cruelty a feature of the cult.

It sucks seeing family sucked into this cult. God dammit, why couldn't you be a part of something cool, like a sex cult?

It occurred to me that if it were based upon the behavior of their adored leader, a Republicult™ sex cult would condone nonconsensual sex, and much of the consensual sex would be quite expensive.

I just started reading The Hero With a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell. I've had the book lying around for quite some time, and finally decided to see what's inside.

In one of the book's early chapters, the author brings up C. G. Jung's "trickster" archetype. This reminded me of St. Gulik/Hermes in our Sacred Principia Discordia, as he has long been identified as a trickster god, as is Loki in the heathen Asatru faith. I then realized Our Blessed Goddess Eris is also a trickster. And, since St. Gulik/Hermes is the messenger of Our Blessed Goddess, it is actually Eris who is the apex trickster in the Greek pantheon.

I'm sure many longer practicing Discordian ecclesiastics already know this to be true. But, steps in illumination and enlightenment come to us when we are ready.

Hail Eris!

"Illinois fights gun lobby to ban marketing guns to little kids"

This article is an introduction to a video segment from Rachel Maddow's show on Monday night.

As per the article:

"Rachel Maddow takes a look at the "JR-15," a small, lightweight gun designed for use by small children, and company's effort to appeal to little kids with their marketing. Illinois is hoping to ban such marketing over the objections of gun lobbyists, Rachel Maddow reports."

Immediately after watching Rachel Maddow's show on Monday night, I went on the internet to find the website of Wee1 Tactical, the manufacturer of the JR-15. But, their website was down.

My search did, however, find the article on the Snopes website that completely confirmed Rachel Maddow's report.

Then, Tuesday evening, I attempted to again view the Wee1 Tactical website. This time around the website was up, and what I found is quite interesting. It now appears that Wee1 Tactical has revised their marketing strategy, as the "skull and crossbones-style logos, with what appeared to be a little boy skull wearing a mohawk and with an eyepatch and green pacifier, and a little girl skull with pigtails, eyepatch, and pink pacifier" are completely gone.

It's amazing what Rachel Maddow's national exposure of this excrement accomplished.

Here's the link to the Maddow article and video clip:

"Trump lawyers claim Biden's 'Dark Brandon' mug was 'thinly-veiled' effort to taunt client over prosecution"

As per the article:

"Former President Donald Trump's legal team filed a response on Monday afternoon to special counsel Jack Smith's request for a protective order that would limit what the former president can say about the criminal trial against him. They broadly oppose the order, attacking it as an attempt to limit Trump's political speech.

But one bizarre claim in particular made it into the filing: That President Joe Biden used a mug to taunt Trump about the charges against him.

"President Biden has ... capitalized on the indictment, posting a thinly veiled reference to his administration's prosecution of President Trump just hours before arraignment," said the filing."

I checked and, sure enough, an image from Biden's YouTube video is right there on page 3 of the formal "RESPONSE IN OPPOSITION TO GOVERNMENT’S MOTION FOR PROTECTIVE ORDER." So, if the the lawyers who prepared this "formal response" are the best TFG could hire, perhaps he really should consider switching to an insanity defense.
