Title: getting my own
Post by: valentine on August 22, 2012, 01:28:30 AM
Just ordered my own copy of the principa discordia. Couldn't find it in a book store mostly because they're all going out of business, I don't understand electronic books I'm more into something solid. Anyways found a reasonable price on Amazon for a new book. Not a big deal but worth sharing I think.

I believe it's the original version though I could be wrong. It's a bright ass yellow book with a hypnotic swill on the front cover.

Cool.

I have the Steve Jackson Games black edition as well as the sexy, newer, hardcover version.

I'm guessing that's the one with the red letters and yellow apple of discord. What's the difference between the two versions?

The SJG version has extra content that was more or less generated by the SJG fan base.  He, Steve Jackson, even hints in that version at creating a whole new tome of reader generated material but of course it never happened.  He gets really pissy when you ask him about it.

But, honestly, you won't miss anything.  With a couple of exceptions, the extra content is pretty mediocre.

I really wish they would have put that in the book disruption, but it's the internet what you gonna do? I'll be honest I mostly chose the yellow book because it had a really cool style. I mean I hate the color yellow yet still like the style. I read as much of the book online as I could but the computer screen puts a lot of strain on my eyes so I look forward to reading the rest of it. By the way did your duck send you your earth money yet?

That new collection exists, it's just been put together by Dr John Swabey not SJ.

Screw the Principia, you should totally buy The Chao te Ching (http://www.lulu.com/shop/omar-khayyam-ravenhurst/the-chao-te-ching/paperback/product-18759432.html).

I think that is the Loopmanic's 4th edition.  It's the easiest one to get hold of.  I've only ever seen the first, second and third editions in digital format.

Didn't they stop making them in general? I read somwhere the place that printed those versions went out of business or something.

Some guy saying he's from 'third mind publishing' is saying they might be releasing a new Lommpanics cover. I think.

Oh, thanks for reminding me that I wanted to get this. I've been buying too many books lately (if that's such a thing) but I could use one more too many.
