Hi all!!

As you all have noticed if you keep up with the discordian calendar, the #aftermath has begun. I've made up two videos calling out for action - obviously doing them is most for fun, because they don't *actually* make you wanna act, and I don't know if I have the imagination or cinematographic resources to do so in a video, but anyway, here they are:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7JAR3RJGGM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASsb441o888

(The first video says in the end "First Aftermath Tournament", and then "from Aftermath 1 to 50"; "It was just a paper boat. What will you sink?". The second is a bit ambiguous in translation and might mean "It's about time!" as well as "It has already begun!". I actually meant slighty more the second interpretation. Also, the second clock in the video is a saint-discordian clock, in which the day has 10 hours instead of 24. I believe I've posted this here, haven't I?)

But I believe that perhaps what is needed is an actual first mindfuck to start off. Well, there is one too!!!!! It comes from a city in the south of Brazil called Florianópolis (I understand this is potentially complex to pronounce if you're not a Portuguese-speaking person; the city is widely known as Floripa, which sounds a bit better I guess) - and this is the city I live in. There were three of us in the streets and our intentions were actually very different in terms of what to do; but not to worry, we'll keep on trying to do better things in days to come...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxfHa2l-vmw

In this video, I show photographs of some things we did in a big supermarket (the title of the video is "Fun in the Supermarket") and when I mean big please think proportionally; Floripa is not even half the size of São Paulo, which probably is not half the size of New York or something.. Lucifer certified "The Secret" book (and told the buyer "see you soon"). And in the video bit, I've declared Rev. Schneider Knight of Avignon (which is a micronation Rev. Beraldo created when he declared his apartment independence from Brazil) in presence of the glorious.. Max Steel knights. Also, the message with the blue dog (Alysson), which is not readable in the video, said "Alysson is a dog in seek of freedom. Can you help him?" - he was actually among boxes of policemen toy.

It is also important to note we're not suppose to take photos inside the supermarket. Or record videos. Or do anything besides buying, I guess...

Hey hey hey!!

The guys from Bulgaria answered the message - twice - and they said:

QuoteSounds fun. I'll try to get some bulgarians in it :)

Later:

QuoteUhm, by-the-way, I maintain the bulgarian site, but currently I live in Denmark. Do I need to contact some fellow flappers from Denmark, or just go flap with the other bulgarian dude (or two, or free maybe, hope to find five)

So we'll perhaps have bulgarian and danish people playing!! =D

Hi!

as Aftermath 1st approaches, there's still one thing left to consider: how could we possibly do some kind of opening ceremony? We could hold parties around the world (here in the south of Brazil we have a Oktoberfest as well and we're planning on going there) or we could have any other idea.. For example, we could light up some flares (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flare_%28pyrotechnic%29) at the same time.. Well, I don't know, we need ideas =)

Also, I've translated the post about the inner workings of the games:

http://jogos.deliriocoletivo.org/2009/09/18/aftermath-explanations-and-categories-english-version/

I'm also notifying them (http://discordia.inchaos.org/) and them (http://dyskordia.org/contact.php) about it =)

Hello! I'm back!

Meanwhile I've created a blog about #aftermath. It's in portuguese, but you can access it here:

http://jogos.deliriocoletivo.org/

In this particular post we're organising ideas for categories and etc:

http://jogos.deliriocoletivo.org/2009/08/16/olimpiadas-de-pos-matematica-quando-o-que-cuma/

I'm going to translate the ideas so far, and if you have anything to say just post it here and I will translate there =) Orr, if you want to, you can comment directly there.

The date:

Starting at Aftermath 1st and ending at Aftermath 50th

Basic System of Competition:

1) Mindfuck is done and documented using Photos or Videos - except in specific cases listed below.
2) The blog is notified about the mf with links to its content in Youtube, vimeo, flickr, picasa, whatever.
3) A post is created about it and
4) The winner in a category is that one which causes enough impact to win by unanimity.

Categories:

Classic Mindfuck - plain simple uncategorized mindfuck
Auto-Mindfuck (or should I say Self-Mindfuck?)
Artistic Mindfuck - involving art in some way
Politics Mindfuck - involving politics
Religious Mindfuck - about mainstream religions
Unreligious Mindfuck - about underground religions, like ours! =)
Cacophony Mindfuck - a cacophony gathering
Psychogeography Mindfuck - a story about a "psyhogeographistic" - definition of psychogeography: the art of getting lost in a city or urban area by wandering around & trying to find out new places, choosing which way to go based on intuition and feelings.
Happy Something Day - Invent something unusual to celebrate on a day and celebrate it.

These categories are special ones because have specific criteria to determine the winner:

Hoaxes - (idea inspired by this PDforum thread, btw) create and disseminate a hoax. The most famous wins (and yes, there is already talks about this being an exception; we could make this collaborative and create a crossing-borders hoax)
Sink - The biggest thing to be sinked
23 #1 - The biggest quantity of 23's in a single photo.
23 #x - The largest collection of photos including the number 23
Puns - the biggest quantity of 'newish' puns
Sign In the Petition! - Try and convince people (not by the internet, however! Real signatures!) to sign in agreeing on something absurd. The winner is the one who has more signatures.

Any other idea? Any idea to further improve those? =)

not sure about other languages, but I've compiled a list of Discordian websites and communities here:

http://discordia.wikia.com/wiki/Discordian_Websites_and_Communities

Thanks, I'll have a look =)

Does anyone know other discordian forums and/or "places to interact with discordians" in other languages, such as italian, french, german, spanish, russian ones?

Humm Yeah, I got your point, but I think there're a few differences between the two projects;

First, the teams are naturally divided: each one represents its city, and there's a thing that happens here (at least) which is: if you find a discordian in your city, then it's fun to meet and hang out, so usually people know the others nearby, which makes the part of teaming up less complicated.

Also, the fact that Rio de Janeiro team or Sao Paulo team may have more people than my city or others such as Salvador, Vitória, putyourcityhere doesn't necessarily mean disadvantage. Sometimes they don't find much time to do things, and also a good idea doesn't need a big group to breed.

Furthermore, we don't mean this to be public, hit the media or anything; for us it'll be a great success if lots of people come in and play - and international if lots of people from different countries come and play EAHeahaeHaehae =)

Sorry for the misspelling too - olympics =)

Poor bastard has yet to discover that people who spend a lot of time on the internet are unwilling to make a lot of irl effort.

It's quite sad that you think like that...

It's quite sad that it's the truth.

Since when there is such a thing as THE truth? =)

Yes, individuals are invited, anyone is invited to play - play as they can. We (I believe most of us) have, unfortunately, other things to do which take us time, we cannot dedicate ourselves entirely to this like people who play sports in the olimpics, but we have weekends and free times and holidays and stuff, so we can still have some fun =D

Also important: for those who have twitter, I'm posting about this with the #aftermath tag =)

ATTENTION, DISCORDIANS ALL OVER THE WORLD!

Hello! For those who don't remember I am Peterson, a discordian from Brazil. We were in a chat room yesterday and had an idea: why don't we create the first discordian olimpic games? It would be a competition, but not about sports - it's all about MINDFUCKS!!

The idea - for now - is to have a worldwide competition by city: a group (or even an individual) representing the city where it lives. The competition would have categories - like the ancient game "sink", a mindfuck involving music, whatever - and there's a new system to define the winner (if there's meant to be one).

The system works like this: There is a group in A city, a group in B city and a group living at city C. Then the A group does a mindfuck - and of course, provides a way to prove it, like photos or videos - and then the other competitors check it out. Then the B group does another thing - but although they were good, in order for a mindfuck to actually win, it has to be FUCKING GOOD - let's suppose C group does something REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY fantastic. What is considered to be really fantastic? That one thing which makes A and B look and think "ok, I admit: C group won" - that's the spirit: when all the competitors agree that one group won the competition, it has won the competition.

The date thought to be the start of everything would be October 20th - this is because this day is actually the 1st of Aftermath, and that's why the name - right now, but that could also change if we have a really really nicer idea - is The Aftermath Games + it's variations, so we get to celebrate the end of Bureucracy. But hey, what do I mean by "variations?" - I mean that the name is changeable to anything that resembles it - and in any other language, like The Aftermath Tournament, Jogos da Pós-Matemática or The Pós-Математика Games!

All of this is a brainstorm: nothing is really concrete and we'd like to know if you are excited about this; we still have to have ideas about the categories and stuff, but that's quite an skeleton, innit?

OH YES, and that's IMPORTANT: Everyone is invited. Many of us are discordians so we hanged around the mithology but everybody can get in the ride. Subgenii, shimonians, it doesn't matter at all - no limits to fun =)

So, what do you think?

No, definitely it's not allowed to set one's girl on fire after she cheated on him in Brazil =D

Hey guy.

That's nice.

I've heard about the Discordia Brasilis in somewhere. I don't know exactly, but it doesn't matter.

Well, in my facebook I have a brazilian friend who calls Timoteo. He looks like very nice.

Wow, i wrote a lot. I hope you success with this project. Can you traduce the Discordia Brasilis in English to us?

Hail Eris. Or?

Yeah, Timoteo is cool =D. His actual nickname is Wodouvhaox, because Timoteo is the brazilian version of Luther Blisset =)

About the translation, I'm sorry but it actually would be very difficult. I'm involved in a lot of (actually not a lot, but they still take time) projects and, since we're looking forward to DB #2, it would be hard =/

Finally!!!!!

Heeey everybody, someone managed to convert the .doc file to .pdf file successfully! Now we're ready to spread it on the internet, print it, whatever. I know that you won't understand portuguese, but, if you wanna check it out, download it here:

Your interview is the last article and, since no text is new, you make up the most important thing in this edition. Thanks for the answers and for your patience too, haehea.
