So an odd pattern Altered and I noticed emerged on Twitter last night.

There'd be about an hour of mostly silence on p much all the hashtags and then a spurt of information. There were three streams last night in DC and then only one by about 10p my time aaaand everything that came out was about the helicopters. No one had any idea what happened to the Philly protestors after they got kettled somewhere until this morning - the only thing *consistently* available was about the explosions, which were apparently people blowing up ATMs and there were no police scanners available to listen to anywhere in Philly (I checked). More or less the same in a lot of other cities.

a discord friend of mine was scouring the internet for DC footage, since they're super close. they had very similar findings, and also saw that twitter was deleting some things. didn't see for myself, but i've known them for a long ass while and they're not the liar liar hyperventilater for hire type. they found some footage posted to instagram finally.

in fact, one of the articles that's linked to about things that cut down on police violence, the first one with the list of cities? tucson is one of two out of a hundred with all the restrictive policies mentioned adopted.

further eta: magnus came to tucson in 2016, which according to the highlighter is when the policies were changed

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2014/06/richmond-california-murder-rate-gun-death/ a very interesting program, but lacking hard data because it was like five ex-felons and one not ex-felon running it

eta, the chris magnus quoted in the above article is the same chris magnus as is TPD's chief of police now. i read the wikipedia article on him, and while there's certainly problematic things from him career in richmond, namely a lot of accusations of racism from other cops who worked under him, aside from that i would cautiously say he seems like an okay police officer and chief

the boi is entering their 'fight me' phase of adolescence. they're not allowed to go play with the neighbor kids, because none of them practice social distancing and none of them wear masks. he flounced out of my room, only to later come back and apologize for calling me stupid. i hadn't heard him in the first place. hearing is going p quick, i guess that'll help me keep my cool in the coming years.

we were well off in may - douchey is absolutely a douche in every way possible, but he secured the poor and recently jobless the extra funds to eat solid meals, plural, every day. i remain skeptical that it was a political move, because when you're hungry, you remember who will hand over a sandwich for nothing for a long, long time, and forgive far more than that sandwich was probably worth in the long run.

there's been Things happening, a new disaster set in the new normal, and my phone somehow became N E T W O R K   L O C K E D at 2am. i don't know if it's the all nighter talking crazy, or if smth gross is afoot.

yeah I'm good! I'm engaged. Stable but bored.

I'm basically like a commercial for acne medication: CLEAN, CLEAR, AND UNDER CONTROL

by Clear I mean that I'm now a 33rd degree Scientologist and would you like to take an e-meter reading? please clench this rod

excellent news, good sir, and congombolations to boot!

This makes horrible sense. The trend of the times is to push an ideology that you don't believe in to sell people on another that you do. From icp to gamer gate to the alt right it's the thing to do to push your shitty message.

What I'm getting at is we should all be joining the republican party.

i'm cackling loudly enough that i'm risking waking up the boi. :lulz:

since (again, second- and thirdhand information that i heard from who the fuck knows where) the testing lab in washington state was firmly told to not test for it until someone did it against the instructions given, i would assume that's why they're pinning that as the first case, and the first day, because it's a verifiable instance and not conjecture. but not being able to do anything with this particular what-if makes sense.

hey. it's ya boi or whatever. was gentled by community of 'spoonies,' and wound up giving a shit about things instead of looking at everything all completely jaded all the time. that's boring as shit anyway.

and for the record, the winner is clearly gin-flavouored piecake.

First COVID case in the US on Jan 21st
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/article/coronavirus-timeline.amp.html

So 125 days since infection began in the US. 125/7=~17 weeks of "COVID season".

what if these numbers are short, timewise? i've heard the first covid case wasn't actually the first covid case, it was just the first one on record, but possibly had been in the US since late last year. i honestly have no idea where i got this information - possibly last week tonight, it's one of the few newsy-type things i ingest.

although, for Some Reason, i can't find any news reports of the last time they did, even though i distinctly remember it happening. Color Me Surprised!
