Monster ideas for the mad emperor's palace:

Eaten Ones:  Corporeal undead caused by people being eaten by any acidic ooze.  Partial skeleton covered in acid that floats around.

5 magic warriors:  Emperor's bodyguard, each attuned to an element (air, earth, fire, water, void).  Level bosses (one per level, fire first).

wizard shades:  Basically shadows with spellcasting ability.  Replace Str drain with Int drain.

Evil pixies that attack and damage on Dex.  (weapon finesse, weapon focus, fencer's grace)

chaos-infused ghasts.

Insane dwarves with one level of stalwart defender.

ELECTRICAL DARK MANTLES!

The rag mage.  Shaman (slums).  May or may not be hostile.

The bill is already in motion.  Well, it's been introduced into committee.

Hey, about that "not having a better policy" thing.

Trump just nominated Sebastian Gorka for a senior national security post.   :lulz:
Gorka said about the Gazan conflict:

Quote"Kill every single one of them. God bless Israel. God bless Judeo-Christian civilization."

So there you go Permagos.  You really showed us, didn't you?  :lulz:

Quote from: Faust on November 27, 2024, 07:59:08 AMWhile I wouldn't trade Ireland for the US under any circumstances, Ireland is far from perfect, we have an awful housing shortage that started about 6 years ago and has gotten worse and worse, new home to buy costs are extortionate, and trying to find an over priced place to rent is incredibly difficult.

If you have someone to stay with you'll be fine, but you'll be facing a hard time trying to get anywhere otherwise.

Politically we are more stable, health care is cheaper than the USA but you still generally want to have insurance, there's plenty of work going round, but every country has its problems, just do your research is all I'm saying

There are towns in Italy that will move you into a house for a dollar right now.

No worries.

Personally, I wouldn't miss the next few years for the world.

Quote from: Brother Mythos on November 11, 2024, 08:17:21 PMSo, I have two (2) questions for you, as follows:

1. How many votes did TSF lose over his own unconditional support for Israel?

2. In the end, what difference did the lose of those votes actually make?

1. looks like about 2 Million

2. It didn't make any difference, because Harris didn't have a better policy.

That's absolute bullshit.  Her policy was restraint.  Rubio, under the Trump administration is "Kill everyone in Hamas, collateral damage notwithstanding."

But progs gonna be progs and the slightest impurity is as bad as the worst offender.

Yes.

QuoteAnd I can't agree about the Guardian - though I believe the US version is slightly different than ours.

You have not seen enough of the pandering fools that comprise American media.  I just watched Joe Scarborough and his sidekick wossname crawl into Mar A Lago to kiss Trump's spotty arse.

QuoteHey, d'ya want a laugh? Guess who started to come off anti-depressants after 50 glorious years on the day of the Presidential debate? My partner says she can tell I'm off them because I am getting increasingly snippy. I honestly can't think why . . .

Because we've all heard this joke before?  Or at least our grandparents did.

"US Muslims Who Voted For Trump Now Upset With His Pro-Israel Cabinet"

"We are very disappointed. It seems like this administration has been packed entirely with neoconservatives and extremely pro-Israel, pro-war people."

I'm really tempted to make more fun of them for the choice they made. But, they were far from being the only group who made that exact same choice, and have already come to regret it.

Here's the link to this article:      US Muslims Who Voted for TSF Now Upset

The Resistance 2.0 is going to have to make contact with, and enlist these people in our cause. And, I don't foresee it being very long before they're ready to disavow the "Dark Side." My hope is that the Democratic Party doesn't simply use them, and then abandon them again.

Of course it will, and it will do the same to you.  If you think the Democrats are a resistance you aren't at all serious about resisting.

I agree with you, but I gotta ask:  Who do you see as the most effective kernel of resistance?

mutual aid, localism, taking care of your neighbors and building in person connections.  That absolutely can include local politicians, but anyone above a municipal or county level is too big to be worth considering.

So, "hunkering down and hoping you're not a target."

Along with work to help for when you inevitably become one

That's not resistance.  That's cowering.

But I have to ask:  What work to help will do any good when they scoop you up coming out of the grocery store?

Problem is, liberals don't tend to watch or listen to that sort of structured program.

If they would, they'd be right wing.

Every single attempt at left wing programming has failed due to low ratings, and either went under or went "centrist".

Has the term "resistance" undergone this much semantic drift?  Not that surviving isn't a reasonable goal to have, mais ce n'est pas la résistance.

If your resistance doesn't include molotov cocktails, industrial sabotage, and the occasional drive-by egging, I think you're Doing it Wrong.

It's been eight years since Trump was elected the first time, and nothing anyone said or did in that interval stopped him from getting a second turn.  But I guess you all just weren't pointing out the issues with his presidency hard enough.  So let's all band together and talk about everything Trump is doing wrong, and how the people who voted for him were mistaken.  That'll stop him.

This is so people can pretend that they're fighting fascism.

By hiding from it.
