Surly waiters deserve whatever they get.  Like a tray of food spilled down their shorts and assurances that the establishment will cover it.

..and why in HELL is everything a BAR now?  Wine bars, steak bars, oyster bars - If I wanted everything shoveled at my face from a two dimesional frontage I'd go a wholesaler fer fucksake

Definitely gone funny in young college lady's head.  I think there's also a strain of getting spooked by encountering actual grit there.  It's one thing to see the idea of it on a screen, very different animal to meet in person.

Yeah, its been made clear to me that most young people these days have never seen a proper horrible beating.

I can see how it might leave an impression.  And I wasn't doing it to hero, I was doing it for reasons of my own.

Still.

Reasons are irrelevant, it was a display of the horrible for something OTHER than sex/resource/prestige.  You showed her someone being more idea than human.  Kind of terrifying to those not prepped for it

He once met something NICE, loved by all, coming out of a pub late one eve.  He was drunk, of course.  He was off duty.  He was still the consumate professional.  He hurled into Johnathan Coulton's lap in his shiny convertible.

Fucker.

The MBTA is a fine system.  Sure it may be eclipsed by the NY or London Metro in efficiency, but it has CHARM.

"Fall asleep and wake up to your train traversing the howling void with cube shaped cages of damned souls flying the other way"  Charm.

there's the scheduled underperformance, abuse, and mismanagement, but that's just to keep the locals from being mad about anything REAL

I once took a philosphy class, and tried to sharpen feminism to the same angle as Nietzsche.  The result was hovercat.

Tumblr is not a file.

I was confused by the similar properties of abrasiveness, frequent misuse, and never being able to find EXACTLY the one you're looking for.

I can, and will con any ship up to 50 ft. in length.  On the high sees there are only so many things to sharpen, and I can relax.  While keeping my head on a swivel, my nose on the weather, and my hearing pointed everywhere at once.  It's been even more secure since we updated salt to be sharper.  Don't try to sharpen a while, by the way.  They get excited and crap.  Imagine the effects of one 'Doktor" Howl, should his emmanations be allowed to take an Exon Valdes style distribution.

As for the MBTA, that's how I became a Non-Prophet, a story which all Richterran scholars know well.

Found my old Asus EeeePC. Installing Linux. I feel dirty.

I found mine in a corner of the t-shirt drawer.  Flogged that thing around public transit until the battery crapped and it no longer made sounds.  Tempted to see if I can get it running again...

Like MSY, plus some grit.  This is western that makes you remember why westerns are a desirable genre.  Like the dollars trilogy, just plus a hundred and change years and a Tim.

Look up a fellow named Bob Healey from the last RI governor's race.  Ran a campaign on about $40.  No major party, gave actual answers in each debate, and when he inevitably lost shrugge and went off to start another liquor venture.

Is there a bad side?  Somewhere, always, yes, but still fits my idea of a "discordian" candidate.  My idea means as much as my personal neon hot dog joint jesus to anyone not in my head.

This is somewhere between nostalgia and screaming.

Also, standing by my previous comment.  This crap happening to the people it happens to has a certain level of satisfaction to it.  THe sort that used to be called just, when justice was handed out by consumptive dentists who were jsut looking for a clean poker game
