Thanks for all that digging Telarus. I just learned a fuckton of things I previously didn't know about Pot. It's pretty crazy that there could be viable evidence that an external application could actually have an effect on cancerous growths.

as for meth- the AMC show "Breaking Bad" has incredibly realistic depictions of both the chemical processes that are used to make meth, and the international/local politics that surround the drug. A rare, horribly good show with a hell of a lot of research.

My understanding of the effects of meth are that clean, laboratory grade meth has a lot less of the physical deleterious effects (premature aging, tooth decay, bone decay, your skin rotting while it's still on your face, etc...), but actually has a much sharper slice of psychological fuck-your-shit-up, and you will go batshit insane...fast.

I wouldn't know about that first or second hand, though, and have no supporting evidence. All the friends and enemies I used to have that did meth were poor as fuck, and usually bought and smoked whatever was cheapest, so I doubt they ever had the "good" stuff.

Maybe not the proper thread for this, but it seemed worthy of mention at some point:

Coincidentally a year or two before the supposed inception of discordia? Right.

Zeus wasn't omniscient, omnipotent, at all benevolent or existing outside of creation... the dude lived up on top of a mountain.

Zeus was omniscient, in the present tense. I don't remember if he could see into the future, but as 'lord of the skies' he could see everything that was happening in the world of men. Of course, he had to actively use that ability.

As for JHVH being omni-benevolent (rabid A/Theists aside), the bible doesn't say he is "all good" from what i remember. It says quite explicitly that he is all things, and their creator. http://bible.cc/isaiah/45-7.htm

as for being omnipotent, the bible has TONNES of things that God can't do, making his a fairly limited Deity. God can't Lie, be wrong, stop existing, duplicate/create "equal" beings, learn, become "not god", force you to speak and all sorts of other biblical things and logical traps.

but things like this are bound to happen. we just can't admit that IF such a thing as God exists, we have no fucking clue what that thing might be, and have no chance to. so why bother? even Middle-of-the-Road is a bias, a human projection.

I believe I'm on holiday at that point.

I may try and create Gorilla Punch, and serve it to strangers.

we use orange juice concentrate and kool-aid. Riot Punch.

I think the energy comes from using the everclear. So many calories...

Mixdown with vocals and the vocals, solo. not really a fan of my own voice, BTW.

There's still time for the chorus.

i'm going with the rap angle. I've got most of the lyrics for two verses. I should be able to record it tomorrow. I'm thinking it's going to need some of that generic hip-hop background filler, like people saying "what what?", only not 'people saying "what what?" '

instead of giving you some of the lyrics, though, i'll just say that it's about "discordian activities"- however you want to populate that category...

And I like the dice idea. I've had a few more ideas for future tracks, if we make it there...i'll bring them up then, though.

Checkers:

First, I assumed this was a parable about how the "teachers" in zen [or cabala] are really only explaining to the student things the student already knows but is too embarrassed to admit. I mean, they're in a "Sacred" room and FFS they're playing checkers. That's like going to college and using nudie mags to study.

Secondly, i assume that the explanation of the rules was the Zaddik using the situation to explain something higher. "You can only move forward" ; "You can only make one move at a time" ; "Once you make it to the other side, you can move anywhere" ...if you remove the context of playing checkers, he could very well be saying something that's deeply profound. Or Not.

Patchwork:

the only thing I can figure for this one is that he was tempted by water, but not food. Even though he only brought the laddle to his lips, and didn't drink, he may as well have. As if he "patched" his way through the temptation. It's an argument I like to make to a  lot of christians, using Issac and Abraham as a corollary: It doesn't matter if God sent a sheep at the last moment, as soon as Abraham raised the knife to sacrifice Issac, Abraham knew that he would kill for God, even his son. His only son. blah blah blah. (i usually present it from the stance of Issac, to avoid the fact that it sounds a lot like the jesus story)

I just like the idea of a Zen Cohen.

lyrics are in progress. i have no chorus, and need to draft it a few times, maybe.
(maybe someone else could write the chorus, not knowing what I'm writing???)

it seems, as more time passes, that I have more to do in my life, and less time to do it with.

i'll be a bit slow to respond myself. But i'm still here, so don't count it as bailing.

done? don't have to be. Hand of Eris, IMO, is just starting to take shape.
I think i might turn it into a rap...

I would like to be prepared for the next one, though. rules suck for many reasons,
but what I like about them is they force one into creative avenues they might otherwise not take.
and agreeing on even the most arbitrary rules can be somewhat time consuming.

but yes, I agree with keeping it one track at a time.
