No, that's just daylight reflecting off the company president's buttocks, as he moons us while he prances off to exercise his stock options.

I believe that it is a matter of flawed perspective.

The light at the end of the tunnel IS sunshine, but you're seeing it from the bottom of a well.

Quote from: Pergamos on August 16, 2024, 08:05:44 PMYes, that's exactly my point.  We've got two options, both of which support genocide, to the point of arming the folks committing it, and sending troops to help make it happen.

I gotta ask, who promised you good choices?  :lulz:

Or Kill Me / Re: Breaking Point
Last post by Majeh - October 04, 2024, 04:57:57 AM
The massive problem with collective action in today's world is the massive oversight that the FBI, NSA, and CIA have over our lives. Since the 70's we have been subtly and not so subtly been bombarded with propaganda and a slow tightening of the leash in the area of surveillance and what can be done to us legally.

We are little more than slaves, albeit our chains are financial, those behind bars are literally forced into chattel slavery. It's a damning take on 1984, at least in the US. Anti-union propaganda have been so effective that most will either vote against their best interest or be too afraid of repercussions to act.

Still, I see the need for community movement that you espouse, maybe some sort of anti-capitalist armed movement would be enough to bring about some change. Getting the momentum to get something like that off the ground though...maybe in socialist, anarchist, and communist circles it could be done. The stark demonization of those ideas will cause the average person some pause to add to it, however.

Or Kill Me / Don't worry, we will all die
Last post by Majeh - October 04, 2024, 04:27:32 AM
Take solace in that statement.

There is no point in fear, instead rejoice! Nothing we do matters and we are a very small and pointless part of 8+ billion people making a race to see who sets off the next big extinction event.

Stop worrying about your job and climbing the ladder, stop worrying about the oncoming wars, stop worrying about the widespread economic collapse that will leave all but the richest wallowing in the mud as little more than slaves to the powers that be. Nothing can be done about that anymore.

Let me say it again for those at the back with their fingers in their ears: NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT THE END ANYMORE!

In a way, it's freeing to know that you have no future, and when it all becomes too much to bare, suicide is always there to catch you. Fuck the repercussions, drink the beer, do the drugs, break the law so long as you can get away with it. We have made it so that there will not be any backtracking from the brink this time, we are fucked and, thus, free!

Maybe we can get some satisfaction if we murder these rich fucks, but even that will not help, not for the real problems. If we wanted to stop all this, we should have started 20-30 years ago. Now it is too late and we are all too short in our respective monetary systems.

Embrace the entropy and the world wide race to making this planet unable to support human life. That isn't to say that there will be nothing after us, but we are cooked.

Lets just enjoy the death we have chosen, shall we?

Aneristic Illusions / Re: The Republicult™ On Parade

Drama Queen Greene gifted us with some more political performance art yesterday. Here's one of the better reviews:

"Marjorie Taylor-Greene Begs For Her Socialist Biden Bucks"

"These MAGA creeps scream about federal agencies every single say and demand we get rid of them all until they need something."

As per this review:

"Georgia Klan Mom Marjorie Taylor Greene told Real America's Voice Monday that she's demanding to get her fair share of socialist dollars from the federal government to help the people of Georgia after the damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

It's the height of hypocrisy when these creeps scream about defunding or eliminating all federal agencies every single say until they need something.

Then they come begging. Or they take credit for Democratic legislation that helps their districts and states, but hide that they voted against it."

It appears to me that evoluition has firmly encoded 'hypocrisy' into the The Republicult's™ DNA, as they unashamedly display more than their fair share of that trait. I would be more optimistic about the situation, if I believed is was actually a 'nurture vs. nature' thing. But ...

Whatever is happening in the state of Texas these days?

I mean, this is the place where Mexico welcomed immigrants from 'Merica, and gave them free land. But, those ungrateful southern 'Mericans rebelled anyway, because Mexico was a free country. And, of course, those ambitions 'Merican immigrants knew they couldn't really prosper without imprisoning a lot of slaves to do their work for them. And then, after becoming the 28th state of the United States of 'Merica, they rebelled yet again, because, of course, slavery.

"The State Fair of Texas opens with a new gun ban after courts reject challenge"

As per this article:

"DALLAS -- The State Fair of Texas opened Friday under a new firearms ban, having withstood weeks of pressure from Republicans who had charged into a public rift with one of the state's most beloved institutions and have spent years championing looser gun laws.

Organizers put the ban in place following a shooting last year that injured three people and sent some fairgoers running and climbing over barriers to flee. By the time thousands of visitors began streaming through the gates in Dallas on Friday — greeted by a roughly five-story tall cowboy statue known as "Big Tex" — the state's highest court had rejected a last-minute appeal from the the state's GOP attorney general, who argued the ban violated Texas' permissive gun rights."

And, of course, this one will be going to 'Merica's Supreme Court, but probably not in time to allow all of those gun-fondling Texans to strap on a hogleg, or two, to swagger around with at the fair.

Project meeting today:

Sally (NOT her real name):  "Okay, Hamish, nice work on the bottleneck on the rescue drone.  I'm moving you onto the new program."

Me:  "Okay."

Sally:  "No weaponizing it."

Me:  *gas face*

Sally:  "Seriously.  Also, I don't think this CAN be weaponized."

Me:  "Is that a fucking challenge?"

Sally:  "No.  Anyway, we're using the old Boston Dynamics 'dog' chassis as a search and rescue bot.  The idea is to use 6 of them, which will most efficiently search in a pattern in a given area of wilderness for the missing subject."

Me:  "Unnnnnnng"

Sally:  "Are you okay?"

Incompetence Coordinator Phil:  "He doesn't look okay."

Me:  "unnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng"

Sally:  "Hamish! Snap out of it."

Me:  "Sorry.  It's just that you told me to not weaponize what is already the best weapons system since the toilet drone."

Sally:  "The WHAT?"

Me:  "Ask yourself if you're better off knowing about that."

Sally:  "..."

Me:  "This is all normal, Sally."

Sally:  "What?  No it is..."

Me"  "Shhh.  It's robot doggie pack time."
