What are you spags doing for Moosemas 2010?
Is anybody else celebrating this wonderful Erisian Christmas holiday thing?
I'm celebrating on Dec 19th. Anybody who wants to come is invited, but be warned - party starts early! we serve moosemosas at 10 AM. and waffles!
Oooh... that is a super-hardcore "maybe". My finals should be all over by then, and it's just early enough before Christmas that my family won't punch me in the face.
so my odds are looking like 60-75% right now
Isn't that the day Tron is out?

Yeah, but that movie is guranteed to suck so you might as well skip it and proceed directly to Moosemas.
I believe I will make a gallon of Caribou and get Mooseblasted with whatever buddies are around.
Incidentally:
Caribou- a fortified wine drink attributed to the Quebecois. Consisting of:
1 gallon strong red wine (burgundy or similar)
1 fifth (750 ml) Canadian whiskey
Maple syrup
Mix, (exact portions currently under research), and let settle for a week to a month.

So glad we uncovered that ancient tome!!!
I believe I'm on holiday at that point.
I may try and create Gorilla Punch (http://www.righteouswarriortemple.org/New%20Folder/gorri.htm), and serve it to strangers.
I'll spend that weekend boozing with some friends near a (probably frozen) lake in Friesland, as well as doing the Sinterklaas presents thing (which is officially Dec 5th, but nobody minds).
I definitely have to moose it up that weekend!
Come to think of it, if the weather keeps freezing like this, I'm going to have to bring my iceskates! SWEEEET I LOVE ICESKATING :D :D Especially on natural ice, it's the best. Scenery, white, grey, coldness, gigantic open space ...
That sounds awesome, 000.
Still no more solid plans than usual myself, really ought to get on that.
Hmmm... A Moosemas celebration might be a good opportunity to spread aroound some Discordian ideas to my non-Discordian friends....

okay
my friends have been talking about this for two days now and we need you to settle something
Is this for real?
We suspect this is actually a j
oke about the Quebecois and not something people would really drink. It makes much more sense as a joke!
Do you spags actually drink that concoction?? if so - what's it like?
I can see the sweet canadian whiskey and a rich burgundy coming together, if you use the wine as a fucked up vermouth in the style of an Old Fashioned, with a touch of maple to take the place of the simple syrup.
I still wouldn't drink it, though.

Doesn't seem too unreasonable to me, kinda like a Glug with a Canadian twist.

I've drank it before, it is definitely legit. If you like Glug, liek Rat mentioned, Sangria, or other heavy sweetened drinks, you may like this stuff. Personally, I love it.
Our buddy from fencing, Enzo, made a gallon of it a month ago. He needed the jug to start another homebrew experiment so we had to drain it. That was a fun night. His was made with leftover sangria wine, and still had a few grapes in it.
I still haven't found a really exact recipe, online sources are few. Kind of thinking 3 parts wine, 1 part whiskey, 1/2 cup REAL maple syrup.
Edit: The proportions are correct for wine and whiskey. REAL syrup is required, don't even try the fake shiz. As far as syrup to wine+whiskey, you want about 1/2 to a full cup for every gallon of finished drink roughly. Adjust to taste. Serve cold out of a snowbank.
We need a date for Providence Moosemas. I think the 19th will work...I leave for Florida on the 20th.
That weekend definitely. Hopefully we've recovered from Bridge Birthday by then.

I think the energy comes from using the everclear. So many calories...
The most dangerous mix with everclear I had was "Quick Mead" which was Everclear mixed liberally with honey until it covered the Everclear flavor.
I woke up the next day at home...
in the basement...
on a couch...
no clothes...
covered in newspapers.

Seems this one has won out over the old definition!
I think we're celebrating Moosemas on the 25th, since we don't have anything else going on that day. The current plan is to eat some acid.

My buddy used to have one of these things. It's a wooden moose, and you can load it up with M&Ms or other small candies. And when you lift it's tail, it poops out 2 or 3 M&Ms into your hand.
THE ORIGINAL ALASKAN POOP MOOSE
I... just... don't understand. WHY? :?
Have a chicken that does the same thing, its good way to keep small bits of candy hidden from the misses
MOOSEMAS AT THE MONASTERY:
Saturday 1PMish
1 Gallon of Caribou
1 apartment full of movies
1 assortment of worthwhile games
...and a whole hill covered in restraunts we can visit and spag up while we sober up!
I think I've already informed most of the local spags, but others are welcome. Just shoot me a PM or call if you intend to show up.
Contributions of snack food or a 6 pack appreciated.

Is Herbert aware of this? If so, tell him to have that fat blonde airhead over. It's high time she meets us.
ALL OF US.
Also: The Tack™, and other ornaments, will be reclaimed by the Sovereign Princess, formerly of the Suucasa Keep, now known as the Monastery, in a ritual that should involve a pineapple.
This is my bidding.
The General and I will also be arriving fashionably late, but hopefully already a little drunk.
Awesome you can ditch the tree dicking in tiem to join us!
Herb knows I'm throwing a shindig, and will likely be at work, please pre-arrange any ornament retrieval with him, I'm not invovled in this.
Pinapple will happen if I have time to get one.
The Tack™ is a family heirloom. He is no longer family as of October 12th, 2010. I am merely reclaiming what is righteously mine, and it is coming to Florida with me to rejoin it's kin.
anybody else making egg nog?
We make a ton of this stuff so we like the simple recipes, the ones that don't require lots of heating and then chilling it overnight or whatever.
Here's our typical nog:
(and truth be told we usually just use rum instead of rum and brandy)
Eggnog
6 eggs
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3/4 cup brandy
1/3 cup dark rum (Captain Morgan for best flavor, but Myers is fine)
2 cups whipping cream
2 cups milk
All liquids should be very cold. Refrigerate in advance.
Beat the eggs for 2 or 3 minutes with an electric mixer at medium speed until very frothy. Gradually beat in the sugar, vanilla and nutmeg. Turn the mixer off and stir in the cold brandy, rum, whipping cream and milk Chill before serving. Sprinkle individual servings with more nutmeg.
Makes about 2-1/2 quarts.
btw Cram,
Having done all manner of complex navigational calculations involving the use of a sextant and several messenger pigeons, I have determined that I probably won't be able to make it any earlier than 11:00 AM, and probably more like 11:30 AM. Just a heads-up. :)
that's fine, I figure most people probably won't get there till 11 either

oh my god Moosemas is the best holiday ever
check in:
end of moosemas day, dec 19 2010 -
started drinking at 10 AM today
had last beer @ 12:50 AM. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
best day ever
we discovered that if you pour funfetti cake mix into a waffle iron, you get a waffle with the consistency / flavor of cupcake
made us wonder what else you can cook in a waffle iron -- ground beef?
decorations included the first 50 images I printed from the google image searches "Moose", "Moosemas", "Moose cartoon", and "Moose comic". Some ridiculous stuff.
so many delicious things were consumed today
bagels & coffee
mimoosas
sparkling bubbles (champagne + sparkling cider)
moosenog from scratch
hot mulled cider
waffles from scratch
waffles from cupcake stuff
coffee cake
cheese and crackers
great beers and vodkas and rums and brandies
bloody mooseys
chinese food
biggest moosemas ever this year - easily 30 or 40 people over the course of the day. They came in waves.
we were visited by jolly old st. nicklemoose
cainad gave me a set of diabetic socks :argh!:
for some reason people began throwing the principia discordia at each other's faces. One guy got cut a little. He bled in the name of Eris.
it was a moosemas miracle!
a great time was had by all
That whole "using the waffle iron for other than its intended purpose" thing is totally awesome. Also try corn muffin mix, and sandwiches.
:mittens:
Providence Saturday Moosemas was success.
Leln, Suu, GS, EOC, and D the Fencer attended.
I had all these games and ideas ready to go, but everyone was cool with drinks, BS, and harassing movies. (Un Chien Andalou, Zardoz, The Hobbit, 13th Warrior) We also had to tree-scavenge for "The Tack", which was photographed for ransom purposes, and sent with Suu. The HORRIBLE HOLIDAY ARMADILLO of discord is now in circulation too.
Leln brought homemade fruitcake. REAL fruitcake. Compressed fruit soaked in rum for 6 months, soaked in rum and garnished with rum.
Everyone else brought beer, which we tore into after having a sacremental belt of caribou.
Many hours of booze and lampooning flicks later we staggered out for a buttload of italian food, and called it a night.
