Title: college postergasm
Post by: Iron Sulfide on October 22, 2008, 07:12:51 PM
for those of us at a college, there's something i thought of.

(perhaps not your college, but at mine) there is a "registry" requirement for any poster put up. at mine, it's a generic date stamp.

so if you have something similar on your campus, get a clean scan of the stamp, shop it with an appropriate removal date, and post as usual.

should increase the lifespan.

that's all. if anyone has any additional ideas along these lines, post them here:

Work in the department/club that approves posters.

All ready done that.

For extra fun, change the removal date to something, like March 2012, Sep 10 2001, anything before 1500, etc.

"Did you hear?  The library is, like, haunted by a secret society.  There were all these posters up - but here's the weird thing: they had the Student Leadership and Involvement stamp on them.  But the date was like, the end of the world in the Mayan calendar.  :scared:"

(actual testimonial, paraphrased for bad memory)

perhaps there is fun to be had by taking off other posters, scanning them, removing the stamp, and putting back up? (a quick way to do it, would be a black & white photocopy, covering the stamp with a piece of paper)

000: to what end? they just get taken down.

maybe for the "official" fliers that get put up by student body groups that are officially recognized by the school and have paid for their space fairly...but as far as i know, indiscretions are not taken up with the groups that post fliers at all, they're just removed.

NOTE:

If you do invite the student government association to go pranking with you, there's a good chance they'll call the cops on your ass.  Expect them to have "serious concerns."

<= learned this the hard way.

You don't actually need to be involved in the club that approves flyers. Any club will do. There's a really simple trick I used to use all the time before I got too lazy and started using the thousands of pages I had accumulated that I was allowed to print via campus resources to replace every flyer that got torn down with ten or twenty more.

Probably what happens when you get a flyer approved is, you make copies after the stamp has been added, right? So get anything approved, scan it and isolate the stamp. Then add it to any flyer that you want to last. If you're competent with Photoshop, you could pretty easily rearrange the numbers in the date too. When you print the flyers with the forged stamp, it's just going to look like you made copies of a stamped original.

Of course, they'll figure it out eventually, so I would advise that you do this under the cover of darkness.

apparently, i scored bonus points by posting the above:

after i had posted it, two people came along and saw it while waiting for a class. i overheard one of them say that the student body gov't had been found to be using their funds rather grossly- and were being reviewed by the admin. board.

mebbe- but that gives me a whole new angle to work with next semester.

"december 21, 2012"s are going to be in the spring batch, blown up as well
as the exp. date of the poster. hopefully, there will be more than idle talking
as a result.

also posted with those posters: "1-800-AlQ-AEDA" "KRSNA's Answers" and "There is no AlQaeda- declare peace while you still can".

Luckily, my university got rid of the dreaded stamp and now we can post anything anywhere we want!

My second project is the DHS posters and/or CCTV poster. However, I really need to fuck with this group of animal rights activists first. They also are TOTALLY FIGHTING THE MAN, MAN, and happened to spray paint this wall with all kinds of things about being awake, being true humans, etc. I hang out with them on occasion for the lulz and we have several upcoming events. I intend to go sticker their wall with Young Americans for Liberty stickers just to see them spaz.

hahah nice!

You might check out grabbing some quotes from peta.com. We trolled them for a while, and some of their members have craaaazy opinions. Like how slaughterhouses are as bad, if not worse, than the holocaust. Or how in a perfect world, cows, chickens, housecats, and anything that can't survive without being submissive to humans, should be extinct.

I totally saw those posts on peta before finding this forum and subsequent thread. So much more entertaining. I've been with this AR group for months and know their personal craziness. I admit, I like animal welfare, but c'mon, there is a line....We have a shit ton of stuff going on over the next couple weeks so I figure one of these nights I'll take off and sticker the wall.

yeah totally - the movement has it's good stuff about it. But it's like some kind of holy game to pick on people taking this shit waaaayyy too far.  :lulz:

I fully advocate winding up the nuts in any movement, as fundamentalists are fair game.  But especially animal rights nuts because, as you say, there are good things about the movement in general which these idiots ruin.

Did you know:

There are currently, in the USA (and always have been), more animal rights
than child protective rights?

To boot, Animal rights, and the formation of the SPCA were precursors to
the first children's rights laws?

The SPCA in the US was started by one Henry Bergh in 1866. it wasn't until 1874
that he took on a child-abuse case. He had no chance of winning the case, except
that he had to argue that the child was no better than an animal, and as such,
had to be treated at least as well as the cattle, which did have statutes in place for
being beaten.

it wasn't until then that there were any real "rights" for a child in the states.

take that peta.

The "specialty stamps" is a header, you click on one of the speciality stamp types below it. What you're looking for, though, is "custom office stamps":
