GASM Command / PlayboyGASM
« on: April 16, 2010, 10:31:24 pm »
At the end of AbbyGASM (where we sent about 50 emails complaining about a non-existent Discordian festival to 10 national advice columnists) we started talking about how we could keep the prank alive and Nigel came up with the idea of marathon meta-meta jake. The idea is to send 1,000 letters to Playboy in which we attempt to connect every known conspiracy theory to a specific Discordian cabal. So who's in?

Principia Discussion / Discordianism Infects The Internet
« on: April 13, 2010, 02:34:20 am »
So I was looking around at Absurdist Literary mags because I wanted to find out how hard it is to get something accepted to one of these folks and I found this.

So either somebody from here cut and posted something from the GASM command board or Discordianism really is taking over the Internet, one site at a time. Has anybody else seen anything like this? Little Discordian name checks or whatever?

So how art thou planning to celebrate this most joyous occasion?

Apple Talk / Just to put my mind at ease...
« on: March 20, 2010, 12:44:36 am »
Lady Gaga is a Discordian right? I just saw that telephone video and it was the most gloriously incomprehensible thing I've ever seen in my life. And I'd hate to go to bed thinking that there was anyone out there doing things like that as a dead ass serious attempt at art.

Principia Discussion / Is Discordianism postmodern?
« on: February 04, 2010, 02:14:29 pm »
Over the years, I've heard Discordianism referred to as a lot of things but until I happened to stroll by Wikipedia's Discordianism entry a few weeks ago, I had never seen it classified as a "postmodern religion". If anything I would say that postmodernism is Discordian. Obviously, some really clever cabal somewhere is responsible for selling academia on this idea, but until the real culprits are found, I guess we'll keep pretending that the official history is true. So anyway...I just thought it'd be interesting to get some opinions on whether or not Discordianism is postmodern.

Principia Discussion / Any Atlanta Discordians here?
« on: January 27, 2010, 03:40:23 am »
So yeah, a friend and I are going to start a cabal and I was wondering if anyone else here is also in Atlanta.

Principia Discussion / From whence cometh catma?
« on: January 20, 2010, 04:34:30 am »
So yeah, I got bored yesterday and randomly decided that I was gonna write something on catma but I got sidetracked into trying to locate the first appearance of the word (since I didn't see it in the PD). Does anybody know where it started? Just wondering.

High Weirdness / Hookers for Jesus
« on: January 05, 2010, 10:42:47 pm »

This is Annie Lobert a former Las Vegas call girl who runs an non-profit called "Hookers for Jesus" which tries to get women out of the sex industry

And this is the cover of "hookers for Jesus" a publication of the Children of God cult concerning their infamous "flirty fishing" practice which involved using sex a recruitment technique.

Literate Chaotic / Have You Ever Had an Epiphany of the Absurd?
« on: January 01, 2010, 10:02:16 am »
Epiphany: an intuitive grasp of reality through something (i.e. an event) that is usually simple and striking.

Absurd: dealing with absurdism.

Absurdism: a philosophy based on the belief that the universe is irrational.

So put it all together and what do you get? An Epiphany of the Absurd (EOTA) is an event that reveals the wildly ridiculous nature of reality. It typically involves something that; is wildly improbable, undeniably true and reveals that reality as a whole (or some small part of it) is Absurd.

Itís like escaping from the Matrix.
Itís like finding out that Santa Claus isnít real.
Itís like uncovering the Conspiracy you know you can't stop .
Itís like a preacher losing his faith in God.
Itís like seeing a dead body rise from the grave and realizing that vampires exist.

So have you ever had a moment like that? If so, what was it and how did it effect your life?
