You and me both, kid. I've lived here in RI for 8.5 years now and I've never seen a winter like this. I think I just missed the last La Nina rotation or something.

I've just been up here since 2006.  Closest thing to winter I had seen for 20 years, it got down to freezing twice I think the whole time I lived in the south.  Since I've been here, fuck it's been cold, but this winter, dear lord I don't think we've gotten above freezing this winter.

Many names have passed in between.  I can't remember them all, I blame the alcohol.

I ummm, well, it's completely humiliating to admit, but I've never fucked while being shot at, while shooting at others, or while others were being shot at around me..... 

I did not realize this was something that happened on the regular...

This is unfortunately incorrect.  History has shown that people fuck faster than you can shoot them.

Do you remember during the "Gulf Conflict" when you would drive around and people had yellow ribbons tied to everything in sight? 

That didn't do much, either.  We were far more impressed by "any soldier" letters, and by nice care packages.  Nothing says "we love you" like a few packs of smokes and some cookies.  Not being facetious, here.

But it turned out that we weren't actually at a war.  We were at a trade show.

So despite the awfully nice things people did for us, it all slid back into the river of shit, again.

No I just meant that was the last time I remember the people actually giving a shit.  Or giving a good impression of giving a shit.

No matter the outcome it's fucking impressive.  People actually got out and fucking DID something.  You don't see stuff like this in the US.  We just bitch and moan and put a one line rant as our facebook status.

It's because we are worried about the important things.

It's a multi-tasking world, where people walking and texting or listening to an iPod are everywhere.

Sara Freund loves listening to her iPod while she runs errands, but New York State Senator Carl Kruger wants her to turn it off - at least while she's going places. Kruger has proposed legislation about distracted walking that would ban texting, talking or using iPods while walking or running.
