Everyone who calls themselves "wolf-something" or "something-wolf" almost inevitably turns out to be an irredeemable shitneck.

Or Kill Me / Re: Listening

Good stuff. I was in the bluegrass club at school. We had a jam every Saturday.

I call it listening because with albums you can't just sit and hear, it requires participation. One has to change the albums, gently push the arm when it sticks and make sure the albums are clean.

All real listening requires participation.

Is there something in my profile that screams "If you're old and gross, email me something sexually explicit"?

Possibly the part where you say you're a pervert.

Yep, that's us to a "T". We're just a fucking comic opera . . .

If it makes you feel any better, you're a good comic opera.

There used to be the Flash and Circle, back in the day, and the Celtic Cross is popular in some circles still, but for the most part it's either a Union Jack or a Swastika.

And yes, the irony is not lost on most people, watching guys with Swastikas chanting "go back to India".

At the cafe where I used to work, this dude told me about his time spent in Spain for a foreign exchange program.

He was really enjoying the chicken his host family had prepared for dinner, so he exclaimed, "iMe encanta la polla!"

After that, I bet he was "muy embarazada".

When I was a kid all my parents played through our home sound system was oldies and smooth jazz.
I didn't start to develop my own tastes until high school.

I had been in choral groups since elementary school and later started doing a cappella.
This song, more than any other, taught me that music is sacred.

Subject to constant volcanic eruptions, planet Brotep is unbearably hostile terrain by human standards. Orbiting a magnetar and composed primarily of iron, planet Brotep undergoes periodic surges of electrical activity as a result of the tremendous magnetic flux.

"Life" on planet Brotep has its origins in ferrous crystals, which began to develop into more complex, ambulatory creatures. The dominant life-form is an insectoid lava beetle, which gathers balls of cooling magma to make its nest.

Heh, when I was in college one of my neighbors had a similar article up on his door. It concluded that women should give more blowjobs.

Okay, I see what you're saying and I think we're on the same page.  But I was serious when I said that you can't truthfully argue against the existence of truth itself.  It's axiomatic.

(Unless Beast was simply ignoring the rules, which is about as par for Discordian dialogue as The Capitalization Meme.)
Axiomatic means it is an assumed, unproven premise. Which means you can reject that premise and thus the system built upon it.

Quote from: MMIX on September 19, 2010, 07:58:34 PMthere is always a danger when bright people jam on ideas and vamp around concepts that the nature of "intellectual discussion" [- yeah note those big, bad, scare quotes,] will tend towards privileging the "discussion as game" aspect over the "discussion for enlightenment" thing

This is quite true and endlessly vexing.

I like this.

Great post, Kai. It really captures that sickening feeling that comes up from the pit of your stomach when you realize everyone around you is just shuffling along killing time until time kills them.
