Was it Sci-Fi or the Comedy Channel that had MST3000?
Both.

Also, MST3K ftw.

I think the writers of that show have and still are engaging in 3 other "shows" based on the exact same premise tho.

Mike Nelson and whoever it was who was Tom Servo have this thing they are doing online that was pretty much the same premise but with A movies like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc.,  So they riff on a movie while they are watching it and put it into MP3 format.  So you download the audio and play it along with the movie, since obviously they'd get in deep shit if they put the two together themselves.

Oh I remember now it's RiffTrax  www.rifftrax.com  an interesting idea.

Really? Awesome idea! I'll have to bookmark that for later. I was wondering what those guys were up to.

I'm down. Can you give us some background on this place?

Roger posted a bunch of links of hijinks going down there, right?

dude and further props for you for being able to speak whatever language it is they speak over there.

I don't know what happened. I used to be a regular poster at 23ae, and then I just sort of got bored with it. Now I go back and I can't make heads or tails of what they're saying. The comments on the OMGASM posts are a good example.

NICE! thx - we should start fabric shopping this week. Hopefully we can bust out 10 or so mantles before the Feb 10th event.

Also: I dig the dress, esp the shading. The necklace is very interesting, especially the strands of pearl necklace dripping off it. And truth be told, I never thought of combining an eye patch with a dildo, so props on the clever idea. It really brings "skull fucking" to a whole new level.

It looks good, but the dildo looks kind of unrealistic.

Romney tries relate to black youth culture.

hahahahahah

QuoteIn his dress shirt and tie, and with his unwavering smile, he walked over and posed for photographs with a group of black youngsters. Putting his arm around a teenage girl, he waved to the cameras and offered, "Who let the dogs out?" He added a tepid "woof woof."...

Later, Mr. Romney admired a child's gold necklace and said, "Oh, you've got some bling-bling here."

I flat out didn't believe this until I saw the video.

This reminds me of that scene in Borat (and numerous other movies) where the white guy asks the black kids to teach him how to talk like them. Then in the next scene he utters some sharply uncool street slang.

You hit the nail on the head with your post at 23ae. A bit longwinded, but it encapsulates the point most eloquently.

those are pretty good. I'd kill to see that stuff in print.

Hard to read though. Could you edit it and add line breaks?

I will repost my original Colbert letter, maybe slightly modified and another for Stewart. Should I post it here, at the Wiki or in its own thread?

Wiki it up, but post a link here.

RATATOSK, you have the torch. Now RUN!

I'm mailing Colbert a copy of Syn's version of the Principia Discordia after I finish some work today.

Awesome, what address are you using?

QuoteAlso, how do we make our project look like it already has people participating?

Well in terms of Postergasm, I might register some alternate accounts on Flickr and upload some more poster shots - without my face in them, of course.

Another alternative is to flood 23ae and other Discordian hangouts with people saying "I'm doing this. Are you guys playing too? Everybody's doing it!"

QuoteDiscordia concors - harmonious discord or unity through combining conflicting elements.

I've always found angry, but intelligent discourse one of the most entertaining things (NO WAI, rite?) but there are no magazines like that. There's op-eds but you know the funniest letters never get published. So the magazine would essentially be a topic answered in approximately 200-300 words from a sampling of perspectives from the splintered world of discordia.

And that's about as far as I've thought about it. Halp pls!

With some creative editng, you could take any flamewar and morph it into a very entertaining magazine article.

That's not really a GASM though, unless you have some way for Discordians across the world to participate.

thought:

Printed text carries with it a great deal of authority. The type of Discordians that we're targeting with project OMGASM (activist types) are also the kind who might spend a buck or two on a black and white magazine just because it's DISCORDIANTM in nature. (count many of us in on that) Obvious correlary: Anyone who would read and be interested in a Discordian magazine is probably interested in getting involved.

If you ran an ad or article on OMGASM, including maybe a blurb or sidebar on each of the different active GASMS, it would do a lot to boost our project's credibility. Especially if you have any luck in distribuing this thing.

I bumped into him at 23ae where he was talking about some of the jakes he pulls at his office.
