Meanwhile John Gibson's new book is called "How the Left Swiftboated America: The Liberal Media Conspiracy to Make You Think George W. Bush Was the Worst President in History."  I wish I was joking.

http://firedoglake.com/2009/12/08/john-gibsons-new-book-the-media-brainwashed-america-into-hating-george-w-bush/

For some reason, I misread that title as:

How the Left Swiftboated America: I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you preside, but George Bush had the worst Presidency of all time!

It's not funny if you have to explain it.

The audience's response determines the funniness.

To continue the metaphor, showing up to the game with a bazooka may get you some disaproving glares, or offhand comments about impropriety with explosives, but by and large a "THAT WAS FUCKING COOL!", will be the repsonse.

I see no bazooka.  I see a bicycle helmet with stickers and a donated "Mickey Mouse" sweatshirt with drool on it.

I aint got no stinkin bazooka! Just a 9 hidden under the helmet and a bottle of gasoline tied to the bike frame with det. cord. Wanna see what happens when i hit the bell?

I'm starting to reconsider my fondness of you. If you're gonna front like this, at least be funny about it.

We could always show them how a real War God(dess) does things.

Eris is not a war goddess. War takes strategy and planning and that's not very chaotic. Eris is the goddess of pink clouds and fluffy bunnies! Now that's Chaos!

Who said " the beauty of brevity is that it only allows the repitition of conventional ideas"

I don't need a windows-y gui to get things done.

This. You are biased by your own familiarity.

I've been using linux on the desktop for ten years. And on the lap-top. When people say things like "it isn't ready for the desktop" that's typically code for "it doesn't have Microsoft in the name so I didn't actually try running it".

Enki,
is still pissed off about all the distros whose sole audience is people dual-booting with windows in order to claim they are leet

I used Debian GNU/Linux for approx 3 years. Never once got X11 working. Did they ever replace that huge steaming hunk of shit?

Shh... If people realize that Linux isn't actually any more difficult to use than any other consumer OSes,

It ain't easier, either.
