Discordian Recipes / Re: the fuck is briping?

i dunno man, i think of it more as a way to smoke a pipe without smoking a pipe.

i kicked cigarettes about 6 yrs ago after smoking 1-2 packs a day for 20 years so i'm not gonna even think about smoking an actual pipe, so this kinda fills that urge.  i would think certain aromatic teas would also be enjoyable, too.

I imagine lots of people just get them to smoke weed, too.   I mean, that's a pretty massive bowl.

i mean - it would be so fun to just walk up to the designated smoking shack at work, and pull this kit out.  all the smokers would be like, "the fuck are you doing?"

"fucking briping, bitches, the fuck are you doing?  smoking?"

it has recently come to my attention that this is a thing.

it's so ridiculously stupid, yet awesome and fun at the same time, I figured some of you folks might get a kick out of it.

here is an entertaining, yet informative review of the product

So these "aliens" finally get their version of the Apollo Project going, and they fly out of their atmosphere (the ocean), and there's all these apes that are responsible for the weird pollution that's been creeping into their world.  Like if it turned out that Romulans were using the Earth as a sanitary landfill.

And they know just by looking at us that if they make contact and ask us to stop, we'll just start flipping garbage barges upside down.
sounds plausible.

I don't know why it doesn't get brought up more, but I think it makes more sense that UFOs are from deep within our own oceans.  They're more often spotted by Navy pilots flying over the ocean and, more importantly, it solves that rather insurmountable problem of every other planet that could harbor life is really fucking far away.

I like this topic, it managed to drag me out of my lurking.

-I practice magic, mostly chaos magic, but other differently labeled shit as well. It works well for me.
-I dont believe time is liner, nor is it the same everywhere. I feel I notice small time fluctuations in various areas, it makes me wonder.
-I will forever believe that the idea of work is utter bullshit and how we treat labor in the US ought to be considered criminal.

What are your thoughts on retrocausality?  That is, future events affecting the present or past.  (Or present events affecting the past, etc)

You know, I haven't thought much in that direction, but it makes some sense. If our subconscious beliefs can have physical manifestations as chaos magic states, then yeah. The things we do now can affect the past by making alterations to what we discover in the future about the past and have us believe that the past events were truth all along.

Makes me wonder if objective Truth is something that can even exist at all or if we just have to choose the truth that best fits our worldview and roll with it, let the psychic censor filter out everything that doesn't fit or rationalize it into something that does fit our version of reality.

I flirted with the idea without realizing it first when learning fourier transforms - that is transforming a mathematical representation of a signal from time domain to frequency domain.  when doing this, half the amplitude of the signal is represented as a positive frequency and the other half as a negative frequency.  i could only make sense of that by interpreting it to mean the signal was flowing both forward and backward in time.

it hit me again when listening to some physicist prattle on about how newton's theories of motion do not take the direction or flow of time into consideration.  they only predict position as a function of time - at any given time.  if time were to flow backwards, the equations work just as well.

the last time was when there was some big hype about something that was supposed to happen in seattle - I believe this was it.  nothing ended up happening, but during the lead up, there was a lot of reference to all the predictive programming leading up to 9/11.  it occurred to me that, maybe 9/11 was such a profound, significant event that it retroactively caused all these predictive events to happen just prior to it.

i'm no physicist and i like to describe myself as a recovering mathematician, but it seems that any calculus based physics is unable to account for the flow of time.  and, really, it is us that are travelling through time - time can be thought of as static - just like the other 3 physical dimensions.  if that is the case then it's perfectly reasonable to say that "a caused b" and "b caused a" are not mutually exclusive.

however - a lot of nature seems better described with recursive mathematics Xn+1 is a function of X1.  That is to say the next X depends on the previous X in the sequence.  The calculations most likely could be reversed to show a non-time dependent relationship.  Until you take chaos theory into account - but, I think the argument there is it boils down to a lack of precision.

Anyhow - I seem to be rambling on.   I think this stuff is fun to think about and I enjoyed getting it all down "on paper"  - it's probably why I made that post about retrocausality a couple weeks ago.

Edit:  I wanted to add that I think maybe a belief in retrocausality could be a useful technique for neuro-linguisting programming.  one could say "in the future, I will be healthy because I am taking care of my body now"  or one could say, "I am taking care of my body now because, in the future, I am healthy"

Most of these fiat-crypto projects are building on etherium. Not sure if the US are planning to go the same route but it wouldn't surprise me if they did something retarded instead

the fastest way to change the landscape is to burn it down but all you're left with is ashes.

you can also chop down trees - but the other trees will hate you for it.

another way is to plant seeds.

it's more work and it takes a lot longer, but the final outcomes are far more interesting.

although technically incorrect, because we are all existing in the same time (at least, i think we are).

I think it may be a better perspective to consider that we are not.  Some people live much farther into the future than others.

It also very much seems like the future is approaching at an ever increasing rate.

so, while a singularity event might not be in our near future, it is in all of our futures.  and it is closer for some than others.

cool stuff - I'd not heard of oculus medium but I am slowly learning Gravity Sketch and I'm absolutely enthralled with it.  I've used it to make a few worlds in Altspace and I can't get over how well it works.

It does seem the healthcare sector is warming up to VR the fastest.  There's a weekly meetup in Altspace (do I maybe spend too much time in altspace, oh probably . . .) on Thursdays called Health Systems chat.  If you haven't been it may be a good networking opportunity for you.

Here's a couple worlds I've made if you're interested in checking them out:

I've got a lot of mates who work in GS. Been meaning to get around to playing with it for long enough but not enough hours in the day right now. For now I'm still doing all my subsurf modelling in flatscreen using Blender but when I get a minute I'll totally be looking at bringing it into my pipeline.

I don't have altspace installed for now. Socialising in VR is something I have to restrict to a bare minimum because it's a fucking time sink. Even more so than all these fucking zoom meetings that sometimes seem to be my entire working day right now. Cheers for the heads up, tho, I'll defo pass the info on to my producer. If she's not part of that scene already she'll defo want in on the action. Unlike me, her entire fucking reason for existing seems to be zoom meetings and other press-the-flesh opportunities. I don't complain, tho, whatever the fuck she's up to keeps the wolves away from my door :D

Medium is a fucking epic piece of software. It's outerface is so far ahead of the game, it's not even playing the same sport at this point. Devs are friendly as hell and actually listen to the community. They've just been bought by Adobe tho so no doubt it'll turn into the same corporate shitfest that all their other warez are. It's free with oculus headset right now or 25 quid or so on the store. I'd get in before it's rolled into fucking CC although, to be fair, I can't see that happening any time soon ;)

Medium must be restricted by country - i doesn't show up at all when I check the oculus store.  I haven't made the leap to developer mode and side loading, but I imagine if I really wanted it, i could get it that way.  but, i'm happy enough with gravity sketch.  you are 100% right that socializing in VR is a major time sink.  altspace is the best bar I've ever been to - cheapest beers in town and you don't have to wear pants.

did a little more research and this has me convinced that bitcoin will be essentially worthless within the next 10 years.

correct me if I'm wrong, but with no machines running the algorithms, bitcoin has no value.

bitcoin halving seems to disincentivise running the algorithms.

this is different than gold in that once you've mined the gold, it exists and continues to exist.

i believe with bitcoin, there will come a time where large stakeholders will be buying computers just to run algorithms in order to maintain the value of their bitcoin.

eventually that will stop being cost effective.
