I can kill it again.

But I won't, because I'm lazy and we deserve the hell we've made ourselves.
Anyone can kill PD, a slight breeze could kill PD. Its amazing the server is still online, we can only assume the truck in kazakstan it is sitting on still has it powered on while they examine the hard drive for any bitcoin Trix might have once stored there.

I mean, yeah. It's just more impressive if I act like I'm special.

I have no doubt the US systems and UK have issues for Trans or mental disability patients and is on a downward trajectory: that is fact

Also, while I have it in mind; here you just named the two largest exporters of culture to Canada, US through cultural hegemony and UK through Commonwealth stuff.

No, that's a misreading. My point is that it could be used that way and nothing in the system uniquely prevents it from going the route of the USA. In fact, I specifically pointed out that Canada is picking up a lot of US right wing crazy lately, and even gave examples.

I said on multiple occasions that it probably isn't being used that way yet. I showed how it could be, pointed out that medical professionals have a history of acting with impunity to vulnerable people, pointed out Canada already gets rid of "themuns" (indigenous people, specifically) in much the same way the USA does to Black people, and pointed out that Canada is not somehow uniquely culturally immune to being awful, or at least that if it does that immunity is waning.

It's not about There Is Definitely Active Genocide In Canada Aimed At Trans People. It's about Canada has been genociding its indigenous people without so much as a fucking "huh whats up with this" for decades, it's getting infected with USA far-right conspiracy madness, and the system has a tool that can be used to beat the minorities to death with.

It is, in short, about RISK FACTORS. Which I think I've shown are pretty fucking reasonable in this instance, fucking thank you.

Sounds like hysteria, and heres why: A doctor potentially ending their high paid, lucrative career just to suggest euthanasia to vulnerable people is the stretch, its not realistic.

They problem is as you describe, they don't care about you, they wont offer the real support any more then they would offer the most visible and highly scrutinised option.
My experience is and has always been: doctors will offer you the easiest option FOR THEM, the golden rule of medicine is not "first do no  harm" it is "first, cover your ass"

And as I said in that very post, my experience is that "plenty of doctors will break the law because they know you can't do shit". I'm not alone, either, I know lots of people have stories like this. Very common amongst disabled AFAB people, because, funny enough, doctors think they're being "hysterical". And medical racism is so common that they have quantified the average amount that doctors undermedicate Black patients for pain. Almost never are there consequences for any of this. One of the more gruesome cases is that of Tyra Hunter. The ER staff who mocked her while she died in front of them were never even disciplined. And this one was, in part, transphobia, so it's real close to home for me.

Is it hysteria if it's already happening? In fact, evidence suggests that it happens all the goddamn time, just like cops shooting Black people in the street and walking free.

Oh, and last thing: when you remember that if you're poor enough there is basically no recourse for you because where the fuck are you gonna find the money for a lawyer, it suddenly becomes a lot more likely for doctors to just straight up break the rules. They've done it to me. Multiple times after explaining my medical history, I have been told "That is literally illegal," by qualified professionals who would know, and they're probably right. But what can I do about it? I beg for grocery money on Twitter, talking to a legal professional just isn't happening.

So do keep in mind that some doctors will absolutely coerce their vulnerable patients even though it's against the rules, because there is basically no chance anyone cares even if they get caught.

And FTR, the "cis guy has social safety net access still, so he's got better chances" thing correlates to identity. It's not a confounding factor, it's directly connected.

I'm in hell because I'm queer and crazy, not because of sheer dumb luck. I'm like this because society has the freedom to fuck me over however they please and what am I gonna do? I'm a crazy homeless person ranting about the gubmint hates them and is ruining their life, there's thousands more like me in just my zip code, who the fuck cares?

Queer people have a higher suicide rate than the general population. They're more likely to experience homelessness, predation and violence. They are more disabled than average because of bigotry, including bigotry in healthcare. They, in short, get fucked up. The identity and the horror are connected.

My argument is basically this:

If you're crazy, disabled but not seriously (say, an unmedicatible sleep disorder) and chronically homeless, and you're depressed unto suicide only because of how you basically cannot survive without access to social safety nets and maybe (like me) the last of those has ejected you, right? Like, let's start with "basically Altered".

You can't be coerced, but maybe your healthcare provider mentions it as an option. Right?

Then take someone who is basically all the above, but they have social safety net access still and, let's see, they're a cis dude. And maybe the provider doesn't mention it as an option.

The basically-me ends up at least CONSIDERING it, the other guy might not even realize it's an option, depending how much of a hermit he is.

Because doctors are even allowed to bring it up unprompted, it creates an imbalance that is able to be put to the use of eugenics. A shitty doctor could get away with soft-balling the option at patients they think Aren't Good Enough and maybe being reluctant to patients they see as Their Kind, forever. And maybe you have 90% of the people it's brought up to say no -- you still have a 10% imbalance aimed at the targets of doctoral bigotry. And bigotry isn't uniform, it doesn't fall everywhere equally. In Canada especially, that's going to come down on indigenous people hard.

Now, for the trans thing.

It's not that it IS targeting trans people. It's that there is a concerted effort to normalize calling LGBT identities mental illness in the US, and Canada (much as they would like to believe otherwise) seems to have a bad habit of picking up our right-wing crazy lately. So this goes through in March, and then the bigots find a way to push LGBT identity onto mental illness lists. And now LGBT people who are vulnerable (which is more common there then in the general population) have doctors recommending MAID to them. Again, say 90% say no -- that's, again, still a 10% imbalance and a SIGNIFICANT impact to the self-worth of the survivors. It still averages out to eugenics.

MAID could be implemented in a way where the patient has to request the information first. That would be much better than this, because this is inevitably subject to societal biases.

You have tiny assassins, I have a pair of mecha cities locked in an eternal series of wargames. It's Operation Jade Helm in the occipital lobe every day for me, except instead of bored grunts lugging dummy mortar rounds you have the blessings of absent extradimensional demon-titans whispered into the ports of autonomous mechanical weapons sent to destroy, well, any goddamn thing they can find, really.

It all gets reset to zero when we wake up from our nightly rest anyway, and if either side does achieve a victory before then it doesn't count because conditions favored solar-powered mutant cyborgs this day and the personification of oxidation and corruption the next. It's a scam, like any other power struggle.

I think they're just bored and obsessed to the point of singlemindedness. Then again we have political bullshit on the moon (the second moon) and a ratfucking sabotage back-and-forth between senile faeries who love astrophotography and hunchbacked light-worshipping vampires, so what even is the truth?

It could be the human condition is to Cause Problems On Purpose and we're manifesting it inside out, but I'm going to be real with you: I think it's because all our human fell out somewhere along the line and there's nothing you can replace that with. Now we're locked in a struggle against the void coming to core us like a fucking apple, and if peace is entropy, life must be war.

And yeah, you're absolutely right. You can't trust our kind.

Seriously. I get up to weird ass sci-fi shit in my head on a regular basis, and it's not even "being creative", it's "my brain is so broken that I'm time-sharing a body with a giant roundworm anthropologist and an industrial automation robot's user agent".

Whatever you're selling, I got better.

/reserves everything.

Hey did you all know that the limbic system - the emotional brain of the mind - is the portal to the Brahman, which is the quantum, which is God, or 'might as well be'?

And if you destroy your own limbic system, you can force the download of a kundalini backup, complete with Goddess manifestations, quantum cognitive function, and uhhhhh...other...things?  Like, cats like you extra, now?  That's the best powerup.

I'm not sure why I'm posting this if I'm just going to talk to myself again, but you know sometimes I have some great things to say so why not.

Oui, has anyone seen the Kalki's white horse laying around?  Fucking thing where is it...

I hope all of me is having a lovely evening out there.

You came to the wrong part of samsara, brother.

Also, starting in March, if I lived in Canada I'd be on the short-list of people who they'd like to just die already.

I have 198 other sentient beings in my head, most of whom would reject the word "people" and some of whom are, oh so scary, violently antisocial. Yeah, actually properly antisocial. (They don't want to hang in meatspace, it literally isn't a problem.) I'm also autistic and have BPD, so I'll never Be Normal and/or have fulfilling relationships with people who aren't as fucking insane as me.

I'm already treated like a fucking sideshow freak by half the people I meet just as a default setting, and doctors are fucking awful to their patients often enough that I wouldn't want any of those fuckers to even be able to say The Word to me unless I could dome them on the fucking spot.

Now imagine this LGBT fascist elimination project spreads over the border (and it ABSOLUTELY can, who remembers the stupid fucking trucker caravans) and some bright spark decides to reclassify LGBT identities as mental illness and boy howdy, Canada is overnight damn near Chechnya-bad for queers.

MAID is already, IIRC (and my memory is very bad), being suggested to people who can't meaningfully work. They can live rich and valuable lives, but they can't help produce capital, so why not die instead?

Even if I am remembering that wrong and it's not being wielded in the service of capitalist eugenics projects, the system is SET UP for it to be used as eugenics. Like I'm all for assisted suicide as a concept, but it has to be firmly a process FULLY in the control of the person who will die from it, from the beginning to the end. Right now, it's not. It's recommended to. It's signed off on.

So long as outside forces have the first OR the last say, it will always disproportionately have an impact on the people who ACTUALLY could be living well but no, fuck them, we don't want THOSE types.

Be careful about choosing where you go, if you do. There's a lot of places that are a bad day from as bad off as or worse than the UK.

Not to mention infrastructure.

Any city older than a century has infrastructural chaos on a scale you couldn't imagine if you were shown it. Everything looks nice and neat shown in isolation, but you add a single other datapoint and it's over for your conceived notions of shit making sense. The water mains were laid in before electrification, and in some cases before sewage. None of the three have anything to do with each other, except when they do, and system failures in those areas are spectacular. Transit infrastructure was built wherever the fuck it fit and/or they could buy out black people's property and flatten it. In cities like NYC, there's extra special infrastructure for things like heating skyscrapers without relying on resistive heat, and this was usually built after water, sewage and electrification, but before communications networks. Most cities have at least one area with a lot of maintenance tunnels and these map to almost nothing sensible either. They did when they were BUILT, mind you, but that was in the 1930s and things are different now.

The newer cities are worse, because everything is neat and orderly in one place and eroding into madness in another in a patchwork that maps to pretty much nothing, not even income level. The rich people want to move away from the poor people so they get new construction that isn't laid out in anything resembling a sensible fashion so as to eliminate walkability and thus poor people, the poor people want to live in the city center near their jobs but get priced out by gentrified tenements, you have just a seething fucking foam of alternating horror and sanity.

Infrastructure being considered orderly betrays a hilarious degree of optimism as regards the human species' ability to do a goddamn thing right.
