I posted it in an Atheist group in response to that "When you're trying to make a joke without offending anyone" meme with the guy trying to crawl through a room full of laser beams, and it shut that thread right down. Definitely going in my permanent arsenal.
You know what? I wasn't going to engage with this bullshit but here you go.
You seem to be trying to let me know, right now, during the week of Finals, in the most passive-aggressive way possible, that I am failing to live up to your expectations in some undefined way. Because what I really need is to have it reinforced that I'm just not measuring up.
I am not doing very well in my classes because I'm overextended, and that's extra stressful because if I don't maintain my GPA I can't finish the Honors program.
Which means not graduating on time and not going to grad school in the fall.
Also I have already extended my scholarship and I am out of all aid at the end of summer.
So I HAVE to do well enough to stay in Honors, and I HAVE to graduate on time.
I don't need any passive-aggressive temper tantrums or demands for time and attention right now. I HAVE a 12-year-old at home, and she doesn't pull this shit. There is no reason to tolerate it from someone who is supposed to be a friend. Maybe you have reasons to be paranoid, but there is no excuse whatsoever for taking that paranoia out on me when what I need to be doing is focusing my energy on my life, my career, and the future economic security of my family.

It occurred to me, then, what's going on at PD. In its glory days, PD was a place where people tried to see what was real, as oppose to what they wanted to be real.

each other, while making small talk in lieu of having Linkin Park or Nightwish on the speakers.
I find myself at the lowest point of my entire life, walking in for my cutting. And I find that I don't particularly want cutting.
So this ain't a slam at you, Nigel, or I wouldn't have bothered explaining. This is just me finally giving up on all that is Discordian. It's become a sick cult demanding sick fucking behavior, and I'm fucking leaving. See you around FB, I suppose.

I know I'm a Bernie supporter, and I'm going to vote for him in the primaries, but I never once thought Nigel was calling me a racist. Or Roger for that matter.
I mean, I know a lot of his supporters can be, in that "Northern Tacit Racist" kind of way, and some might have their heads pretty far up their privileged asses to even notice what they're doing, but I'm fairly confident I don't fit that profile. Much. Or at least I try.

And I'm not screeching mad, at Nigel or anyone else, because I've done similar shit myself. I'm just saying this shit ain't healthy, especially for me. I don't intend to walk away from people here when I run into them elsewhere, ALL I am saying is that I'm finished with Discordia. It had value, but like the psycho letters, that value passed. At this point, I think I've stated my case.
I got little to say other than that I think Roger's plan really could revitalize the board if earnest effort is put in and that I understand his decision to cut the Discordia. For my part I figure that I've still got stuff to say and learn, but it's not for Discordianism in itself that I stay. I just don't really feel any sense of belonging when I look to other paradigms. I feel like I'm still in a transition of belief, but have no idea to what ultimately. The terrible not knowing has me in the very arms of Eris for now and I know nothing of the future.
1. It was a joke. It says so right in the title. A joke specifically designed to needle people who don't like to look at the ugly side of whatever tribe they've joined, and are compelled to dig in and screech if someone tilts at their sacred cow.
2. I posted it here because this is a Discordian forum, and that is, in fact, what Discordia in general and this forum in particular, does. It tilts at sacred cows.
3. If you cannot handle having your particular sacred cows tilted at, then indeed, Discordia is probably not for you.
4. I don't give a fuck about your persistent and predictable efforts to create drama whenever I'm too busy to pay attention to you because of important things going on in my life that impact my career and my future. You have lied to me about all kinds of shit for YEARS, which I am perfectly willing to forgive, but I am not willing to forgive your bullshit drama-stirring attention-whoring nonsense. Of COURSE you're having a crisis right now: you have a crisis every three fucking months when I have finals and am too busy to pay attention to you.

Amazingly enough, I encounter Bernie Bros in the wild almost daily. I find them fascinating. At this point most of the remaining Bernie Bros I encounter are full-blown conspiracy theorists, as well, so something about the Bernie-as-savior trope must deeply appeal to people who are prone to belief in conspiracy theories. They lean heavily toward the paternalistic Liberal brand of racism and misogyny; the idea that those wimminz and black people just don't know what's best, because they can't think right.
