Well, Game 2 (considered one of the better ones) had 16 people playing. I'm hoping for that, or more. It's a lot more fun if we have 3 spiders and 2 discordians.

I just want to remind everyone signing up that, with the exception of weekends (when I won't be around), everyone needs to be able to post at least once a day, even if it's to say that they won't be able to vote that day. The worst part of the game was waiting for certain people to post and/or vote. The game is about participation, not lurking.
If you're going to go on vacation, or not be around for a few days or whatever, this isn't the game for you.

There will be three Spiders. They will be known collectively as The Spider. Two of the Spiders will know each other, one will not know either. Each round ("round" is defined later), one of the Spiders will choose a Citizen to subsume. If subsumed, the Citizen is out of the game and will become a Teabagger for the Sarah Palin/Rand Paul 2012 campaign. I can't prevent you from posting after you're out, but PLEASE do not offer any advice or assistance; you lost, you're out. If you MUST post, make it funny (for an example, see Semanj's "Zombie" posts during the first Werewolf Game, or Fred's postcards from the Spiders II game).
There will be initially two Discordians. They will not know each other, and no one else will know who they are. Every round, one Discordian can evangelize a Citizen. There will be a 50% chance that the Citizen will convert and become a Discordian. The new Discordian will know who converted him. If not converted, the Citizen will not know who the Discordian is. The Citizens will not know who was converted. The Discordians are allowed to reveal their identities, if they're stupid like that.
If a Spider tries to subsume a Discordian, there will be a 50% chance they will not succeed. If a Discordian is not subsumed, they will be given two names. One will be the Spider that attacked him, and one will be another player. They will not know which is which.
If a Discordian tries to evangelize a Spider, there will be a 50% chance they will be subsumed. If they are not, they will not know they escaped a Spider.
If a Discordian tries to convert another Discordian they did not convert themselves, they will create a CABAL. The CABAL has a 100% chance of converting a Citizen, who will then be part of that CABAL. It will be up to the CABAL if they want to make it public. The CABAL will be broken if all but one of the members are subsumed or Put On A Bus (see below).
If a Spider tries to subsume one of the other Spiders, they will begin to create The Machine™. All three Spiders must be subsumed in order to create The Machine™. Once created, The Machine™ has a 100% chance of crushing both Citizens and Discordians, but only a 50% chance if the Discordian is part of a CABAL. If The Machine™ has not been created, the Spider still has a 50% chance of subsuming a Cabal member. Once created, The Machine™ will continue to exist, even if one of the Spiders is Put On A Bus (see below).
Every round, the Citizens will discuss and choose a fellow Citizen to Put On A Bus (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PutOnABus), where they will be forced to surf TVTropes.com for the remainder of the game, and can not participate. A simple majority (N/2 +1) will choose who to Put On A Bus. If no simple majority is reached, then no one gets Put On A Bus that round. Citizens who are put on a bus can still post in the thread, but please don't act like you weren't just kicked off by a bunch of paranoid freaks. See above regarding posting if you've been kicked out of the game.
A Round will be defined as the length of time it takes for EVERYONE playing the game to make a post. The game will not continue until everyone has posted in that round. If a player hasn't been contributing to the thread very much (i.e. consisting mainly of "this is a post" or "I vote ___"), I may not wait for them to post before moving on. This will be decided on a case by case basis.
Depending on how the game is going, there may or may not be clues in the various narratives as to the identities of the Discordian and the Spider.
The game is over when either all the Spiders have been Put On A Bus, or all Citizens have been Subsumed.
If all Citizens are Discordians at the end of the game, and all Spiders have been Put On A Bus, then the game ends with REVOLUTION.
To Recap:
-At the beginning of the game, no one will know who the Discordians are, even to each other.
-Only two of the three Spiders will know each other.
-A converted Discordian will only know who converted them.
-Each round, there will be a vote for who gets Put On A Bus.
-A Discordian has a chance of not being subsumed by a Spider.
-A Discordian has a chance of converting a Citizen into a Discordian.
-A Discordian can create a CABAL by converting a Discordian they did not convert themselves.
-A Spider can create The Machine™ by subsuming all three Spiders.
-A round is not over until all eligible players have made a post.
-If you're subsumed or Put On A Bus, please act like it.

To me, it seems like they would view it much as villagers might view an attack by werewolves on one side and vampires on the other.
Being subsumed by a Spider means you're kicked out of the game.
Being Put On A Bus means you're out of the game.
Being a Discordian means you're protected (somewhat) from the Spider.
Being part of a CABAL means the more people in your CABAL, the fewer Citizens to suspect of being a Spider (because everyone in the CABAL knows each other), and the better odds you have to pick the right person to Put On A Bus; and the better odds you WON'T be Put On A Bus.
If that doesn't answer your question, you may be mixing up your Game Theory with your Sociology.
And all the evangelism happens in pm's, right? This is only the like 2d or 3rd time I've played one of these games here--I'm sorta still a n00b.
Here's the technical bits:
A TYPICAL ROUND:
1) I narrate the previous day's events (who was Subsumed (or not), who was Put On A Bus, and whether a conversion happened.
2) All remaining citizens post at least once.
3) While that's going on, I PM one of the Discordians, and one of the Spiders, and ask them who they want to subsume/convert.
4) After everyone has posted, voting officially begins. Usually, everyone has already decided, and has posted a vote. KEEP A RUNNING TALLY OF THE VOTES, OR FRED WILL KILL YOU.
5) After everyone has voted, the round is over. GOTO 1.
Be advised - the order of the subsuming/converting is random (coin flip), but the Bussing always comes first. So, it might be Bus -> Convert -> Subsume, or Bus -> Subsume -> Convert. The implications become clear when you think about it.

The squealing of metal on metal signals the beginning of a new work day, as the commuter train rolls into the station. The Citizens of the City file on and off, waiting for the caffeine to kick in, trying not to make too much eye contact. They know that if they play their cards right, they can get that promotion, that raise, that extra day of vacation. One step closer to getting what they want.
But unbeknownst to them, there were already people among them who were getting what they want, at that very moment. They lived without external cajoling or threats, being motivated from their inner will. They were thinking for themselves, and keeping their heads down. But individually, they were making plans to spread the word of Discordia.
But behind the ads on the subway walls, inside the radio waves of talk radio, wrapped around every pre-packaged breakfast treat was The Spider; not content to let people live the lives they were guided into by their parents and their own survival and comfort needs, The Spider wanted to control everything, to suck the last drop of life from the Citizens, until there was nothing left but rote mechanical behavior, preprogrammed to give The Spider everything it needed and wanted. It was Time.

Jenne, it's a move dictated by the clumsy rules I wrote. You're supposed to post, then vote. If you don't want to vote for anyone, you still have to say something. So "abstain" means "I do not want to put anyone on a bus right now."
I will flip a coin and roll a d10 to determine my vote. Tails=0-9, Heads=10-14. Any result over 14 will be rerolled.
EDIT: And the result is 2. I vote to put Blight on the bus.

Randomly choosing thins out the citizen pool, with little chance of nailing a spider and a chance of killing off the Discordians. The thing to do is wait for the discordians to get information or - better yet - form a cabal, which allows them to start vacuuming up citizens faster than the spiders can.
Once the Discordians trip across a spider, or vice-versa, you have actual data to work with. Even if you have to put two people on a bus to get a spider, the math is in your favor.
So you kind of have to be patient for 1-2 rounds.
also, it seems to be a good idea to kyfms in the beginning, too.

Bob shuffled off the train, eyes bleary from the lack of sleep. He'd been working on a spreadsheet until about 1:00 AM, and his dreams were a kaleidoscope of cells, formulas, and numbers. And eyes. Sharp, beady eyes seemed to be peering from the dark corners where the figures from the spreadsheet never went. In his dream, Bob kept trying to push the speadsheets aside to find out what was watching him, but his wrist kept getting caught up in the cord from his computer's mouse. He had woken up to the piercing alarm with a thin film of cold sweat across his skin, and that clammy feeling stayed with him, even after his morning shower.
Bob pushed open the heavy front doors to his building, climbed the three flights to get to his desk. He dropped his jacket and bag, and automatically did a 180 towards the break room. He could smell the acrid odor of burnt coffee halfway down the hall, and it made his heart jump and his step quicken. Bob all but leapt through the threshold of the break room to get at the coffee maker. It sat there, smugly, with a carafe of black liquid steaming gently in its cradled arms. Bob grabbed his mug off the adjacent shelf and quickly poured himself a cup of the tar-black fluid. It burned his lips, his tongue, his throat; but it offered the energy he needed to get through the day.
"Ah, Mr. Iptuous. You're going to have to stay late, you know."
The voice behind him made Bob jump. "GAH! What the—" he spun around, splashing some coffee on the floor. Standing in the doorway was Kevin, his boss, arms folded. "Sir, sorry, I... didn't see you there."
"Of course. Anyway, the Peterson report needs to be finished and on my desk by 7:00 AM tomorrow."
"But I thought we had another week!"
"You thought wrong." Kevin took a step towards Bob, and his stride was erratic. Bob watched Kevin lurch slightly to the left, then steady himself, as if he was balancing on a ledge, or standing on one leg. Bob stepped forward himself, arm outstretched. "Are you all right?"
"I'm—fine." Kevin grabbed Bob's hand and held on tight. "You're going to stay here, and finish the report. And when you're finished with that, there are plenty more reports to complete."
"But, I was going to go on vacation after this project was over."
Kevin laughed. "You think that everything stops because you want it to? No, Mr. Iptuous. You will stay. You will stay tonight, and you will stay tomorrow, and you will never want to leave." Kevin grunted, and lowered the rest of his legs. "Not while

Bob woke up at his desk, next to a stack of unfinished reports and a fresh mug of coffee. He sat up with a groan as his eyes drifted to the computer screen, with the ubiquitous spreadsheet. His hands moved to the keyboard on their own, and he began typing. He never noticed the black, beady eyes peering at him from under his desk; nor did he feel the thick, sticky strands that had been tied around his waist, securing him firmly to the chair. He needed to finish these reports. The Company was counting on him.

There was a place where a large swath of construction workers went when the day was done, called The Re-Bar. I vote to put Phox on the bus again. She voted against Iptuous, and when that failed, she took matters into her own hands. I think this was because, although he didn't target her or her allies, he did display a clarity of thought beyond what anyone else had. He was the one who took the initiative to keep track of who was voting against who. This makes it easier for us to clearly see what's going on, and thus make a successful deduction of the Spiders' identities.
Who said the Spider never uses confusion to its own ends?
EDIT: Oh, and I have to compliment you on your writing, LMNO. Great stuff. Do you mind if I incorporate elements of your vision of the Spiders universe into a tabletop RPG setting that I'm working on? I think it would work really well with the Cyberpunk/Cosmic Horror thing that I have going on at this stage of development.

I know, but she had a really, really flimsy reason. Also, she was the only one to vote on someone who had already been voted against. I know it's not much of a justification, but she's the only one that has presented a reason to vote against her, as far as I can tell. That being said, I will change my vote if someone else presents reason for suspicion. I'm not entirely happy with my own reasoning here. It's just a gut feeling. Probably something to do with the memetic influence of her avatar.

Unqualified, I said before my vote that for the first few rounds, I personally prefer to spread the vote thin around than to abstain. I think it makes things more interesting and there's a slight chance it'll provoke a discussion.

He grabbed two more beers, and threw himself down on the couch. He struggled briefly with his (somewhat) universal remote, and then the blare of HDTV filled the room. Gerald took a pull off his beer, and tried to forget about everything. The Initiative, his moronic contractors, the latest tragedy happening in London, another five homeless men found torn apart in the Themes—

I killed a spider in my bathroom a few days ago. Tiny little thing, but that doesn't mean anything in the desert. In fact, the smaller the size, the more dangerous they are.
I'm just glad I'm not out in Sahuarita anymore. Found three, maybe four black widows in three months, two of them with egg sacks. :x

Phox heard them before she had even turned the corner in front of her apartment. Big engines, commotion, the incessant beep-beep-beep of something backing up. What she saw after taking the left on Martin St was a mess of flashing lights, flatbed trucks, moving vans, and police. She slowed down a bit, then approached one of the police officers. "What's going on?"
"I'm sorry miss, you're going to have to keep moving. City business."
"Wait, I live here."
"Oh? Ah. I thought we got everyone." He handed her a yellow piece of paper. "You're being evicted. Eminent domain."
"What?"
"Yeah, the City Council voted that it would be in the public interest to build a WalMart here. So everyone has to move."
"How is this legal?"
The officer eyed her suspiciously. "Because it's the government. They make the laws. You sound like you don't believe in democracy."
"I—that is to say, um... Of course not. But why is this the first we've heard about it?"
"Lady, you ask a lot of questions. Here, where are you from?"

"No, what country were you born? Can I see some identification?"

PHOX IS OUT OF THE GAME. SHE WAS NOT A SPIDER, NOR A DISCORDIAN.
Ned decided to take a day off of work, and found himself in the City park. The weather gods had finally smiled on the City, evidenced by the rays of sunshine that would occasionally break through the cloud cover and offer patches of warmth and comfort to those lucky enough to be standing in the right place.
One of those beams of light caught a reflection, took a sharp left, and bounced off of Ned's retina. Looking for the source, he saw a man kneeling at the base of a lightpost, desperately working at the base of it with a screwdriver, glancing around furtively. Curious, Ned sauntered over casually, and asked, in a completely causal tone of voice, "What'cha doin', pal?"
The man leapt back, looked around frantically, and started spluttering, "Uh! Ah! Um. Yeah. I. Uh. HeygottagosomethingIneedtobedoing—"

Chuck's paused, startled, and then quickly reached into the bag and pulled out the device, kneeling next to Ned. "Yeah, I got this. Shouldn't take too long, now."
"I'll keep watch." Ned stood, folded his arms, and leaned against the post as Chuck worked. "You know," he said, "that gizmo could very easily block the signals from any security cameras set up here. You know that?"
Chuck stood, brushing off his hands. "Yeah... I thought about that. I figured it's kind of a bonus."
"Or the entire point. Come on, let me buy you a drink. I think we should talk about this some more."
DISCORDIAN CONVERSION: SUCCESSFUL.
Darrell sat at his kitchen table, reading the morning paper, mouth agape. He couldn't believe all the things that were going wrong in the world, the country, his own City, even. When were people going to take responsibility for anything?
He threw the paper down with disgust, and turned on the radio.
A dark flash of movement, behind the fridge.

This was making sense. This sounds like a way out.

"Ah, Ned. Have a seat." Ned sat. "So, everything going well? Feeling ok?"
"Sure, fine. Never felt better. What's this all about?"
"Well Ned, you see... We've been noticing you've been acting... strangely. Erratic."

"You've been nodding to yourself while you work, as if you were wearing headphones, which is prohibited. We know," he held up his hand as Ned tried to interrupt, "that you're not wearing any, otherwise the cameras would have picked them up. So we must consider the possibility it's a nervous spasm."
"I can assure you, I'm not feeling nervous."
"Let us determine that, yes? An objective opinion would be much more accurate as I'm sure you'll agree, which is why we have Dr. Spindelwulf here. We've also noticed the smile you've been wearing lately."

"Well, grinning would be more accurate, yes? Not a friendly grin. Shows a bit of mania, possibly. But the main reason is the items you've been taking home with you."
Ned's face hardened. How much did they know? "You can't steal trash, sir."
"Well, that's just it, isn't it? You're stuffing your pockets full of bits of wire, a gear here and there, even a collection of broken switches. That's just not normal, Ned."
Dr. Spindelwulf leaned forward. "We'd like to help you." His voice was oily and sharp, like a newly cleaned knife. In his right hand he held a small plastic pill bottle. In his left were three small yellow pills. "This will help."
"What the hell is that?"
Mr. Green shook his head. "Now Ned, there's no use for that kind of language. Your choices are simple. You will not be let back onto the jobsite unless you take these pills."
"There's nothing physiologically wrong with you. Your problems seem entirely stress related," said Dr. Spindelwulf as he placed the pills on the desk in front of Ned. "You just take the pills, and everything will be all right."
"That's it?"
"Yes, Ned. That's it."
He looked at the pills, and did a fast calculation. He couldn't get the supplies to Chuck if he quit, and he certainly couldn't afford his rent if he wasn't working. What the hell. He reached out, grabbed the pills and jammed them in his mouth, swallowing them dry. "You happy?"
"Yes, Ned," muttered Dr. Spindelwulf, whose teeth suddenly looked very, very sharp. "Quite."
THE PILLS GAVE ROGER A POUCH LIKE KANGAROOS HAVE, AND HE PUTS HIS SCREAMS IN IT. HE HAS BEEN SUBSUMED BY THE SPIDER. HE WAS A DISCORDIAN.

That night at the Re-Bar, Larry was getting a pint when he noticed a familiar face at the other end of the room. He walked over, and cocked his head. "Hey, aren't you the kid who was talking to Ned?"
Paul looked up, startled. "You mean that guy from a few nights ago? I guess. Didn't catch his name. Uh, I wasn't hitting on him or anything."
"I know. You taught him a new word. You seen him around? I've been looking for him."
"Never saw him again after that night. Thought he wasn't interesting in what I was saying."
"Let me tell you, he certainly was. He just couldn't figure out what you were talking about. I'm Larry."
"Paul."
"Well let me tell ya, Paul, once Ned figured it out in his head, he wasn't letting it go."
"How'd he figure it out?"
"I gave him some hints. I've got a sneaking suspicion you and I are on the same page, here. Hey, grab that booth, I want to sketch something out for you."
The next thing Paul knew, it was last call, and both he and Larry had dozens of bar napkins covered in scrawled diagrams, notes, and bullet points. It was just the beginning stages, but it was most certainly a plan.
TWO DISCORDIANS HAVE FOUND EACH OTHER, AND HAVE FORMED A CABAL.

The CABAL has a 100% chance of converting a Citizen, who will then be part of that CABAL. It will be up to the CABAL if they want to make it public. The CABAL will be broken if all but one of the members are subsumed or Put On A Bus. The CABAL can name itself, which will be used in the narration.
If a Spider tries to subsume one of the other Spiders, they will begin to create The Machine™. All three Spiders must be subsumed in order to create The Machine™. Once created, The Machine™ has a 100% chance of crushing both Citizens and Discordians, but only a 50% chance if the Discordian is part of a CABAL. If The Machine™ has not been created, the Spider still has a 50% chance of subsuming a Cabal member.
Currently, only the two Discordians "Larry" and "Paul" are in the CABAL. If another Discordian wants to join them, they must choose one of them to convert. The CABAL does not follow the string of conversions.
For example, we start with D1 and D2.
D1 -> D3 -> D4. Then, D2 -> D4.
D2 and D4 are in the CABAL, but D1 and D3 are not, even if they all know each other. They can join if they spend a turn converting D2 or D4.
Round 5 has begun.

Well, obviously we know that BDS is a Discordian now. Roger's subsuming proves that. I'm reluctant to vote for anyone because that's the only thing I'm sure of, and I don't want to vote off another Discordian. I would recommend that if BDS is in the cabal they should take advantage of the 100% conversion rate while they have it, and if they find another Discordian, awesome. If it's the non-cabal Discordian's turn to convert, they should try to convert BDS so they can join the cabal, unless of course it's BDS. If BDS is not in the cabal, I recommend that the cabal doesn't try to add him- the Spiders will be after him next and they can make a bunch of other people Discordians while they're at it and safely not known by the Spiders. I guess that's my long-winded way of saying "Abstain"

You can make them look as cute and fuzzy as you want, they are still scary as hell to me. That little dime sized spider is the size of a fucking saucer in my brain. Even though I know it isn't my brain will not listen to me.
I blame the gigantor tarantulas they had in Texas and Nevada when I was a kid and Dad was stationed there. I swear to this day one chased me. Of course I was maybe 4, but it is a clear and terrifying memory for me.

Harold liked to walk around the block a few times during his lunch hour, if the weather wasn't too bad. Stretch the legs, clear the head, get rid of the office drama for a bit, break up the routine of the day. To day the elevator seemed to be going to every floor but his. He tapped his foot impatiently. Finally, the door opened to a crush of people standing shoulder to shoulder. The frowned when the saw him, but shuffled a bit to make a little more room for him.
They might have been pushing the weight limit for the elevator, because as it reached the ground floor, the whole thing lurched, tossing everyone around like dice in a craps game. Harold lost his balance completely and had a sickening moment where he was surely going to smash face first into the floor. At that moment however, a strong hand shot out and grabbed his arm above the elbow, yanking him back to his feet. He tried to turn to look at his rescuer, but the doors sprang open at that moment, and everyone spilled out into the lobby.
Wincing at his wrenched shoulder, Harold made his way outside.
Damn, that hurts. he rubbed his arm, and noticed his shirt was torn, and his arm had a shallow scratch across his bicep.
How the hell did I get scratched? Fuck, that itches. Better go get a new shirt. Blinking in the sunlight, he made his way over to the first men's store he could find. He walked in with a determined look on his face, set on finding a standard white dress shirt, nothing fancy. Then he stopped short.
There, in front of him, was a
shirt. The cut was perfect. The buttons, tiny silver accents in a field of navy. High collar, French cuffs, the works. He
had to have that shirt. He reached out, touched it. It was like a spark jumped between the fabric and his skin. Then, off to the left, he caught a glimpse of Madras. He'd never been a fan, but these pants were really speaking to him right now. They were saying, "Buy me. You can put it on your card." He couldn't resist, and began walking over to them when a flash of orange sprang into view.
That was a tie to be proud of. You know what would go well with that? A new pair of Italian leather shoes...
Three hours later, Harold found himself at the cash register with four large bags at his feet, and the cashier saying "... most kind, sir. Thank you for shopping with us today." She had the most striking eyes, almost solid black, as if they could see into your heart. He'd have to come back tomorrow. There might be a sale.

Well, there's really not much I can say to make myself look like one thing or the other. I would just think that since I put out advice that made the cabal stronger it would point to me not being a spider. Whether that makes me a citizen or Discordian is up to your guess. Further more, it would not be in my best interest, if I were a spider, to make the cabal stronger. It just doesn't make sense.
Also, since it seemed like Khara would be next on the block after Requia, it follows that she would try to misdirect to someone else who tried to help the Discordians. A very spidery activity. I have a stronger feeling about Khara than anyone else at this point.

I think this is how it's gone so far this round.
Actually, looking at the list I just realized that I am the only citizen left. If the cabal chooses to believe me, then they will know exactly who the spiders are, since there are only 3 Discordians, 3 Spiders, 1 citizen.
The cabal can safely take a gamble that it's not me. This probably means I will be subsumed this round, but I'd appreciate it if you tried to convert me first. 4 against 3.

I'd also like to point out at this point the following:
Both Khara and Jenne voted for BDS after it was proven that he was a Discordian. They can claim suspicion of Roger if they want, except that even at the time the Spiders didn't find each other, but in that round a Discordian was converted. Roger suddenly changed his tune and said BDS is definitely not a spider. That all but gave both of them away as Discordians. They can also claim missing it if they wanted, but basically knowing who a Discordian is at that point is pretty damn important and you would make damn sure that you weren't voting off a Discordian. They then retracted there votes each time Roger pointed it out.
EoC tried to help the Cabal, and got subsumed.
I gave some pretty solid advice to the cabal, and now Khara wants to get rid of me.
Going back on the thread, there has been nothing that Khara has said to help the Discordians, only to cast suspicion in the wrong places.
I'm going to call my suspicions now. It's Khara and Jenne. The third spider at that point becomes obvious to the cabal.
Khara can say I protest too much, and I'm sure she will, but why the hell would I basically guarantee a loss for the spiders if I was one? So, fuck yeah I'm protesting too much, I want you goddamn spiders out of my goddamn city.

If my logic is sound, you're one of the bad guys, but we'll worry about that later. Right now the proof is between Khara and Villager. If BDS confirms that one of them is the good guys, then that means the other one is one of the bad guys.
Also, this round is going to play out in the following possible ways:
I get put on a bus. End result, the Discordians no longer have enough votes to vote off a Spider. The Spiders form the Machine, and crush the Discordians one by one. Game over in 4 rounds.
A spider gets put on the bus, and the Discordians now out number the Spiders, and vote them off one by one. Game ends in Revolution, game over in 3 rounds.
Either way it will be a first. Hoping for the Revolution. Seems like something not likely to happen again for a long time, and I want to see the narration for it.
It's Khara. Or it's YOU, Blight! But I suspect Khara a little more. If that was a ploy on your part, congratulations.
I'm voting for Khara, and I would urge everybody else to change.

Logic/guesswork/total fucking luck. In general, somebody will post a theory on who they suspect, and everybody sort of follows that. Of course, you don't know about the motives of the person who posted a theory, so it gets tricky.
It wouldn't be a particularly good ploy on my part if it were one. If I were a spider I wouldn't bother helping you guys get your number 3 in. Withholding my vote until any necessary votes have been changed.

Ah, well, logically, BDS would have to be a Discordian. Roger thought he was suspicious, a Discordian was converted and then Roger was vehement about it not being BDS. Roger gets subsumed and it is revealed that Roger was a Discordian. How to explain Roger's behavior? BDS converted Roger. Roger then converted someone else told them to convert BDS, and then that someone in turn created the cabal.

"Need your help on a project, Larry. We have to get Q3 numbers by next week." Larry stood there for a moment, looking at Ned, and his tired, dead eyes. It was unsettling.
"Why would we need Q3 numbers? More importantly, why ask me? I work on the site, not behind a desk."
"Priority Reorg, Larry," said one of the suits. "You have valuable resources we can leverage into mission critical solutions."
Ned slid a small lump of plastic across the table. "You'll need this. It's your blackberry. Keep it on, and keep it with you. We'll need to be able to reach you at any time of day."
"Larry," said the other suit. "How much do you know about our production levels?"
"Uh... I guess they've been good. Haven't noticed any slacking."
"But do you know?"
"...Not specifically."
"Great. That's where we'll begin. Have a seat." As Larry took a chair at the table, he noticed a stack of boxes against the back wall. The first suit grabbed the top box off the stack, and put it in the middle of the table. Written in small, delicate script were the words 'Week One Input/Output Ratios (Aa – Ar)'. He opened it up, reached in, and passed the top sheet to Larry. "Aaronofsky. What can you tell us about his schedule for the first third of his shift?"
BDS IS IN A MEETING. INDEFINITELY. HE HAS BEEN SUBSUMED BY THE SPIDER. HE WAS A DISCORDIAN. THE CABAL STILL EXISTS.

They had been having good luck finding the spare pieces of electronics they needed from Ned, but after he stopped coming around, they thought about ordering online. Larry advised against it though. He pointed out how easy it was to track someone's ordering history on the Net. His advice was to pay cash at some dinky shop that didn't keep very good records.
"Should we wait for Larry?"
"I haven't heard from him since this morning. Let's take some initiative. Come on." Paul approached the counter, where a young man was working on a circuit board with a soldering iron.
"Help ya?" he asked without looking up.
"Oh. Yeah. We need a common-emitter transistor. Something that can boost to near maximum gain."
"Common collector?"
"Nope."
The man finally looked up. "Why not?"
"I... can't tell you."
"Can't, or won't?"
"Maybe both."
The man stroked the stubble on his chin. "You don't get much of a request for that, these days. Most people are asking for integrated circuits. Sure, there are a lot of reasons for wanting one, but still... You guys been down the park recently?"
Larry and Chuck looked at each other. "Sure, I guess."
"You tried using your cell phone while you were there?"

OK so... help me understand the game better. How could the Discordians have lost?
In the last few rounds? Only if they were misled or silly.
With 2 spiders and 3 discordians, it COULD have been possible for the Discordians to choose to convert Spider1, while it was Spider2's turn to attack. In that case, there could have been 2 spider subsumations, leading to 2 Spiders and 1 Discordian. But the Discordians chose not to convert, and with the Bussing of one of the Spiders, there was no logical way for the spiders to win.
It was neck and neck for awhile. If Khara and Freeky could have converted Jenne (or Nigel, but by then it was pretty late), the MACHINE would have done considerable damage if the CABAL wasn't formed yet.
All in all, a good game.
We sure as hell tried our best. Damn good game and some of the best writing you've ever done LMNO!!!

And Nigel, you should join in on the next one. It makes a lot more sense from the beginning, and it's a lot more fun if there are more people involved. This was a particularly good game I thought because I was damn unsure of anyone (minus BDS) up until last night. Plus you get to shoot accusations at your friends as a necessary part of game play, which is fun in and of its self.
Also, I never, ever expected a Spiders game to end in Revolution. It just seemed to statistically unlikely. But then again, I took stats at a community college. Either way, I was glad to be a part of a really unexpected ending.
Out of curiosity, which two spiders knew of each other?

Thanks to all the other players for making this a really good one. This was even more enjoyable than Spiders II where Roger and I butted heads for, I think a solid 32 hours.
Also, we gotta get that spag Trip Zip on Spiders V. If he's going to vote he might as well be part of the game. I suggest a peer pressure campaign.

Luna and BDS were the first Discordians.
Khara and Freeky were the Spiders that knew each other.
Jenne (later Nigel) was the lone Spider.
It was very interesting when all the Spiders were women. They played it very well.

Citizens are 100% vulnerable, so there's a better chance to pick of a citizen or find another Spider than stumbling on a Discordian. Even then, there's a 50% chance of killing them and if you don't, they only have a 50% chance of properly identifying you.

Yeah, I didn't like to abstain, but I didn't have any info to go on. Real good crop of spiders. Ironic, since that was partially what lead to a Revolution outcome.

I figured I was a goner if the Discordians lost the initiative the round before.
Once the CABAL is formed, that means automatic conversions of citizens. When Villager got on board, the tables turned.

Also interesting side note, I suspected her until BDS said otherwise (I definitely suspected Khara more earlier that round), and she suspected me until the conversion was successful. It was a mutual gamble on our parts.

Yeah, I'm hoping that if I ever end up a Spider, Villager ends up being one in the same game. I wouldn't be able to pull it off I don't think.
I partly really didn't know what the hell was going on, and partly knew that the situation was extremely precarious and that I was best off playing as dumb as possible.
This was the best game and not just because I got to be evil. I think everyone played really well.
We discussed Jenne and said nah it's her first game but when Nigel replaced her we knew but by then it was too late.

A simple majority out of 11 is 6 or greater. 6+5 = 11. 6>5. Maybe your grade school teacher taught you that x.5 rounds to (x+1), but she didn't know any better; the real world isn't nearly so unambiguous. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least six distinct (and equally valid) ways to round a floating-point number to an integer, and LMNO is using one of the situationally appropriate ones to determine a majority, at least in the examples you posted.
