I certainly enjoyed meeting Roger on the other side of the screen.  Hearing the actual laugh added context, made the online absurdity that much deeper, richer.  I haven't been very good at keeping up any sort of connection, but I've watched exciting adventures with companies that might end the world, or just make it considerably worse, and I definitely wish him the best.

We have the techmology.

"Poopspotting: How AI and satellites can detect illegal manure spreading in Wisconsin"

As per this article:

"After a fresh February snow, a satellite about the size of a shoebox, busy snapping photographs as it circuited the planet at 17,000 miles per hour, captured something dark in Wisconsin.

About 56 tons of livestock bedding and manure had been spread atop Mark Zinke's frozen alfalfa field.

The image, beamed down to the surface, eventually appeared on the computers of Stanford University researchers, who relayed it to the offices of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

A staff member looked it over. He decided it was noteworthy and passed along the information to another employee in a nearby city.

Zinke, a Brownsville dairy farmer who cares for a herd of more than 1,300 cows, had forgotten about the whole thing until he later heard from the agency."

So, that's what all of those billions of dollars spent on the Space Race, and AI Development was all about! Now we have the techmology to see illegally dumped manure from outer space, clearly identify it, and report it to a meat-based intelligence unit (MBIU) who then reports it to the local authorized manure police department (MPD).

I wonder how long it will be before the MBIU, an obvious weak link, is replaced by AI.

Time's basically up. I've been trying, but I hit a wall and tonight I realized I was woefully optimistic. Hilariously optimistic.

I have a week to go and nowhere to jump to next.

I'll just copy-paste my retrospective on the life I have lived from elsewhere. This world doesn't deserve more effort from me.

Copy-paste begins below.

It's done. I'd say it's been good, but this life has been miserable for me. Everything I ever interacted with went to shit before my very eyes. I was forced to struggle for barebones animal survival from adulthood to death. I will be dead at half the age someone like me should. I saw a lot of things, fell in love with ideas and people, and watched everyone i care about suffer and wither away. And now I get to watch the precious few I have left mourn me before I'm even gone. The world is in shambles and has been in freefall since as early as I remember. I had joy, only to have it repeatedly stolen from me. I got partners, and they all left or died or ended up being pieces of shit (not my most recent ex, but a much earlier one). I got HRT and then lost healthcare after just long enough to see the start of the changes. I went through police violence and sexual assault. I have experienced so much medical suffering. I had more smear campaigns launched against me than anyone with my kind of profile ever should.

People have asked me for years now why I'm so bitter, angry, why I lash out, why I hate so much of this world and why I can't just shut the fuck up.

Look at the legacy of my life: an endless parade of trauma, abandonment, disappointment and suffering, capped by one last hurrah for unrewarded sacrifice, ableism and The Free Fucking Market.

If you can say you wouldn't be mad, I wish you the worst.

Techmology and Scientism / Re: The Infinity Burial Suit T...

I'm not enthusiastic about this "approved" alternative burial method.

"Human composting as alternative to burial and cremation gets final approval by Delaware lawmakers"

As per this article:

"Senate sponsor Laura Sturgeon said natural organic reduction is a "sophisticated process" that uses cutting-edge technology and engineering to accelerate the process of turning a human body into soil.

"This choice may not be for everyone, but we can respect those who wish to turn their bodies into soil by allowing this sustainable death care option to be available in Delaware," Sturgeon said.

If the bill is enacted into law, state officials would have up to a year to develop specific regulations.

The organic reduction process involves putting a body into a large tank that also holds straw, wood chips or other natural materials for about 30 days. The human remains and organic materials would mix with warm air and be periodically turned until the body is reduced to a soil-like material that can then be given to the dead person's family."

Actually, this "approved" burial method creeps me out. It strikes me as being way to close to what I'd expect to happen in a Soylent Green Processing Facility. But, that's just me.

I'm in Tucson.  ALL WE HAVE ARE CRYPTIDS.

Like the tarantula hawk.  Don't google that.

Or naegleria fowleri.  Absolutely do not google that.  Nothing but horror there.

And that's the stuff that you have to go looking for.  There's plenty of other shit that comes looking for you.

Aneristic Illusions / Re: The Republicult™ On Parade

Tennessee was only the beginning! The Republicult's™ Chemtrail Conspiracy Theory has spread like a virus to Pennsylvania!

"Mastriano proposes bill to combat 'chemtrails' rooted in conspiracy theory and climate science"

"Pennsylvania requires those seeking to modify the weather to get a license, but no one has ever applied"

As per this article:

"A state senator who was the 2022 GOP nominee for Pennsylvania governor has proposed legislation to outlaw experimental weather modification techniques falsely associated with the "chemtrail" conspiracy theory.

The false belief that condensation trails left by high flying aircraft are actually trails of chemicals released by the government for nefarious reasons has become conflated with techniques being explored to reduce the amount of solar radiation absorbed by the atmosphere.

In a memo seeking support for his bill, Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-Franklin) said new technology and a proliferation of weather modification patents "owned by a combination of Federal Government Agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations, and large multinational corporations" have brought forward the need to update Pennsylvania's law."

So, how long will it be before the Chemtrail Conspiracy Theory becomes a "plank" in the Republicult's™ party platform? Oh, wait ... the Republicult™ doesn't have an actual platform. Silly me.
