Pretty fucking neat!

http://www.10000yearclock.net/learnmore.html

This is where I feel the need to point out that "Oh shit, we're starting to make millennia-scale problems that our descendants will have to deal with for centuries, we'd better build a giant eternal clock thing that future generations can use to remind them of the cycle of life and sustainability" is pretty much the death keen of every civilization that has ever existed.

That and genetically engineered bright turquoise agave.

End times.

It's like humanity is genetically pre-disposed to have each civilization set its own egg-timer of doom. But hey, this clock has a different chime pattern for every one of 10,000 days. And special anniversary chambers. That's a twist.

Phrase of the day!

It's full of Romney supporters who also work in public education (which is oxymoronic, but don't let that stop them). My job is to take the blame for any technical issues.

This is going to be a fun day for me.

My suggestion? Out snoot them. Be more Romney than them. Make them think that Mitt may have experimented with Marx in college.

Possible outcomes:

1. The realize you are mocking them, especially coming off their bitter defeat on Tuesday.
2. They think you are the Republican messiah and will ask if you ever thought of running for office.

The bottom line of it all is this - when you consider how much money was spent on the campaigns, added to the amount of tax revenues not being collected from major companies and then coupled with the enormous waste perpetrated by the same companies* you realize that America can quite easily afford decent healthcare, education & infrastructure for everyone.

*Eg: Halliburton during the Iraq war racked up all sorts of interesting invoices. $45 for a 6 pack of coke. $100 per bag of laundry. $7000 pm for a lease on an ordinary car. The empty convoys they ran. The trucks they had the army destroy when they broke down. Change an oil filter? No, blow that fucker up and request a new one for $80k. Not to mention that they got a $1billion tax REBATEthis year.

Or there's tech companies like Apple & Google who fucking LOVE LOVE LOVE the loopholes. Apple kindly paid less than 2% tax on all their foreign sales.

But no. America is broke. We just can't figure out how to make Social Security work anymore.

BUT MOST OF HIS EMPLOYEES ARE HISPANIC AND THERE IS A TSUNAMI COMING AND HE HAS TO FEED HIS FAMILY

Oh, well...no worrying about the 22 families affected by the lay offs, jerkwad.

You have to fire 22 people to feed your family? HOW MUCH FUCKING FOOD DO YOU EAT!!????

So, he hires mostly Hispanic workers and won't explain what kind of business he has. Whut?

Actually, my math was way off because I'm wicked tired, and it would actually be a buck twenty-five.

But still! THAT'S A CUPPA COFFEE PER AMERICAN!

:argh!: Damn you arithmetic! I made the same error because I went to bed at 2:30am Wed morning and then tried to post here after a long ass, soul draining client.

Still, when you figure that Rove spent 365 million, Linda 'Why does no one love me?' McMahon spent 76. The casino guy, Adelson gave 70 million. That's just three obvious ones off the top of my head aside from all the Super PAC money. Can you imagine having so much money that when you fork out 70 million for NOTHING, you actually don't miss it?

Ohhh....now wait a minute...

"More than that, Mr. Romney had spent so much money winning the nomination that he was low on cash; aides, seeing the problem taking shape, had once considered accepting federal financing for the campaign rather than rely on private donations."

So the 'successful businessman' representing that party that constantly reminds us of how bad the govt is and how it hurts free enterprise, considered getting funding from the uhh....federal government.

Well, if someone can constantly twist themselves into so many ideological positions, perhaps Mr Romney can find work as a yoga teacher?

Mrs Mang had the whole 'You can't vote Obama if you're a Christian' insanity thrown at her recently. Many moons ago, Mrs M (as a teen) went to a Baptist church....but she got better.

Anyways, a new woman working in her office went to that same church some time ago, so there are people they both know in common. The mistake this woman made was assuming that:

a) Mrs Mang was a Christian.
b) That her political views were 'traditional' if we use the word traditional is the sense of 'divinely sanctioned racism & homophobia'.

So, new girl kept bringing up politics and the election and Mrs Mang kept dodging the issue. I told her that, if she didn't shut this woman down, she will believe you are a 'project' to get you back into church. Well, Mrs Mang kept her cool for a good while but the office noob was unable to decode her non-committal responses as a polite way of saying STFU.

Last week, Mrs Mang exploded epically    Every time the woman would try to object, Mrs Mang was 'nope, shut up, I'm still talking' swatting Baptist memes out of the air like King Kong and the biplanes. It was a glorious combination of frustration and logic that stunned this woman into silence.

QuoteAl-Qaeda would hate Crowley for sometimes sexing guys

Here's an irony for you: when the Taliban ruled Afghanistan, they banned the frankly despicable "dancing boy" or bacha bazi practice, whereby young boys would be kept for the purposes of sex and entertainment by older men.  It was essentially culturally permitted paedophilia.

Now that the Taliban are gone, the practice is thriving again in Afghanistan.

Always a topic of uncomfortable discussion:  'Good things the Taliban did'   :x

Ahh...someone always brings up Karma. What I love about that is that the people who make those posts show not even the slightest inkling of Hindu or Buddhist notions on the subject. They then compound the hilarity with:

"If X person does something I don't like/understand, I hope karma fucks them up the ass and gives them cancer."

:golfclap: Congratulations, you have taken a philosophical question about cause & effect relationships, welded it to a vengeful monotheistic deity that karmic religions lack and then invoked aforementioned phantom to destroy your enemy. Theologically sound and very healthy I'm sure.

Oh yes, for sure.  But I doubt Cameron telling them it's not connected is going to have the desired effect.

NO ONE THINK OF A SPIDER!! STOP THINKING ABOUT SPIDERS!!

I'm going to have to give this some more thought in a while but, here's how I perceive people's perceptions. (Woo..how meta!)

(a) Some people think that Homosexual = Paedophile. They seem certain that it's older males attracted to younger males exclusively. The classic meme for this being the dodgy Priest or the sketchy Boyscout leader.

(b) Older males abusing younger females is frowned upon for the most part. But then there's 'barely legal' porn, and the extensive sexualization of children, especially girls. There was a woman on a talk show here recently (think it was Anderson Cooper). She was getting verbally bitchslapped by an angry audience. Apparently, she couldn't see the problem with dressing up her little girl as Julia Roberts from "Pretty Woman" or like the biker chicks you see in magazines or garage calendars. And god forbid we even mention child beauty pageants. [shudder]. Seems like society is saying that abusing little girls is bad but getting them to dress, move or act like sexually mature adults is ok.....at least it's not GHEY, right??

(c) The discussion of women sexually abusing children of either sex is almost never discussed. [Unless a 20 something female teacher beds one of her teen something charges. Otherwise, this is invisible.]

(d) The predatory paedophile, while obviously a problem, has become like the serial killer in popular crime shows & movies. Fact is, most people don't get killed by serial killers. They usually get murdered by people they know and much child abuse occurs in the same manner. When people think of paedophiles, they tend to think of a man in a white van abducting little kids. Makes for great headlines, but victims of sexual abuse that I've met never suffered it under soapy, Hollywood like conditions. The evil was much more banal.

So far as we've heard, he only targeted girls.

I'm fairly sure Cameron was being sincere...but then, if he was, wouldn't have the Cabinet Office Behavioural Team warned him that linking paedophilia and homosexuality, if only to deny the connection, would in fact perversely reinfornce the linkage?

Of course, I am assuming all Cameron's public appearances are carefully scripted, because I'm fairly sure the Operating Thetans that control him would not be able to cope with the complexities of an unscripted reality.

Ahh...this is the same disease that Karl Rove, Bill O'Reilly & co are suffering from.

It is true though that there can be a tendency for people to link Homosexuality & Paedohillia. There's some very weird, dark, psychological nuance in that.
