That was an extreme exaggeration, which has been a thing in these parts for a very long time from what I know. Apologies that I wasn't entirely clear that that wasn't a literal statement of my beliefs.

EDIT: I am genuinely pretty alarmed that this was mistaken for a serious statement, thinking it over. I cannot understand how the mistake was made, considering that it's completely inconsistent with all of the values outlined in the post itself and with those I've espoused prior. The only sort of person who could seriously say such a thing is an absolute monster by any sane standards.

The only moral option given these election results is to burn the entire US and hope the next people to arrive do a better job. A lot of innocent people are going to be caught in the inferno, but there seems to be no hope for them anyway given the country isn't entirely disgusted by and unwilling to put up with the party of children in cages, legislating people to death, and monetizing human suffering. Maybe Belgium can fund the escape of everyone with a conscience or something.

This particular Bad Future is very close to home for me, because I currently live in the Killeen, TX area. I was, for a time, fearlessly walking the two miles to the nearest gas station on a semi regular basis. Now I'm genuinely scared to walk too far down the street.

Note that I walked through gang territory in Pittsburgh, the bad part of town in Butler, etc, for most of my life without fear. I was mugged only once, ever. 2AM, on foot, in the wrong side of the tracks was generally a good night for me, and that's not some kind of comparative statement.

White southern suburbia terrifies me in a way that the gang territories and the projects never, ever did. And you put the finger on precisely why.

There is a nowhere Podunk town of maybe 3,000 people near me. After 9/11 people were patrolling the streets armed on horseback to protect the town from a possible Al Qaeda attack. I'm sure they were all having the time of their lives, and there there are plenty of people around here who would love to make that a permanent thing.

Combination of general attitude (a kid was sent death threats by adults for being trans) and the nearest other town being Fort Hood. I get along with vets most of the time, but I am finding more and more reason to fear the military and those in it when I bump shoulders with them daily.

This isn't concerning one bit. The timing is entirely innocent, as is just about everything to do with it. There is no way in hell anyone could get the idea that there's a state of combat readiness in the neo-Nazi community. This is absolutely a re-enactment plane and in no way would ever potentially be used for any other purposes.

Put bluntly, the truth is way less concerning to me than the appearance is. I know what's realistic, and I know what is going to create more fucking terror in a country where significant minorities already feel a loaded gun to the back of their head.
