It tends to be rather rare that I feel any kind on national pride, but that made me smile. You can take the man out of Scotland, but you can't take his desire to attack people with his head.

Perhaps best of all is the total and utter sincerity where he apparently uttered the immortal phrase

""You can't touch me, I'm an MP."

Not seeking re-election is madness. That's a vote winner hands down.

(Yes, yes, obvious injustice, if you or I did it then jail for sure but I'm taking any politician being head butted as a win, however minor)

I have an overwhelming urge to grab people and scream "They're doing it again you stupid fuckers! This is YOUR fault!" at them over and over until they either ask me what I'm talking about or run away.

Actually, I resist these urges all too often, so I'll indulge myself in this time.

The piece reads as a move to exert political pressure, which is a bit of a problem as, well, shit's still going down pretty much everywhere, constantly
Yet, the video is classic posturing - No action off the table, strong emphasis and pauses at all military mentions. It could be the Israel orientated audience, but my "Oh fuck, here we go again soon" sense is tingling.

Calling it now - The president that leads "The War on Terror" into to Pakistan is probably coming. Not today, but at this rate I'd say within the century.

To ensure fulfilment of said prophecy every and all future world leader is about to, and simultaneously likely to, invade Pakistan. They should be worried.

This would partly lead me to think of it as a bout of sabre rattling, but if they've learnt from their mistakes and that analysis holds true it could get rather interesting.

Hells, I can conjecture half a dozen scenarios where if you really fucking wanted them, you'd get them.It all really depends on how much you care about the islanders and the world perception.

If it happened to escalate to any real degree, I'd suspect relatively little support from the EU, more a direct call to the USA. Again, it'd be interesting to see just how that request gets denied.

I also suspect that someone, somewhere, is waiting on a report of "How much oil if any". A bit of horrendous calculating later you get the literal profit of war.
In summary, find the chaps who do those sums. Questions must be asked and righteous beatings must occur.

Which is certainly a concern. Investigation into most police corruption in the UK tends to be rather slow and ineffective. The IPPC could be seen as a bigger joke than the PCC. An important issue also here could be that while everyone acts busy condemning the PCC, the self regulation of police is left unchallenged and unchanged.

At least that seems to be what's occurring. I would imagine it serves media interests to say "we're sorry but we've changed.." speeches. It would leave any untouched sources free to do the same again which I would imagine to be inevitable.

The scale of this entire incident will probably never be truly known. I suppose it goes to show, if you go corrupt - Go BIG.

At this rate I would actually be surprised if it is not every single mainstream paper. Many run remarkably similar stories on the same day, which would indicate to me the information being sold and re-sold. NI may be getting the heat now, but I'm pretty sure everyone else is going to be having a bad time by the end of this.

Apart from Private Eye. Hislop talking to the Levenson Enquiry was a lesson in class and how journalism should be conducted.

To briefly clarify this as it may have caused some confusion.

I do not believe this is currently being pushed for in any country, anywhere. The notion derives from my own feeling that those who seek power are often the least qualified and adept to wield it. To my mind it seems logical to make power a burden, not a privilege.

Yes, yes, there are more problems than solutions, least of which is that it would require current law makers to essentially put themselves in the poor house, at least in the future.

I just like the idea of the world leaders earning minimum wage and living in the ghetto. Combine that with a Maximum wage initiative and I suspect the world would be a better place within a generation or two.

It can be nice to examine the ideal from time to time. The real tends to be pretty constant, the ideal invariably changes.
