Like two weeks ago I brought shame upon my family and discovered I actually enjoy Twitch. Specifically, I stumbled into the wide world of live DJ streaming sets, both individuals and clubs. Recently Facebook banned live music streaming and DJing... so its actually legal in Twitch???

I thought in Twitch they were banning people left and right for copyright infringement on music? Or is that just when they use it as background music while playing games?

But according to a six-month investigation published this week by the Tampa Bay Times, the high-tech tool deployed by the Pasco Sheriff's Office didn't lead to a reduction in violent crime — instead, 21 families singled out by the algorithm said they were routinely harassed by deputies, even when there was no evidence of a specific crime.

In September 2019, deputies showed up at 15-year-old Rio Wojtecki's door because the algorithm had determined Rio was one of the county's "Top 5" at risk of committing more crimes, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Before that, Rio had been arrested only one time, a year prior, and was charged with sneaking into a carport and stealing motorized bicycles. Rio had already been assigned a juvenile probation officer — but because of the algorithm, police showed up at Rio's house to question him at least 21 times, beginning with that September visit, Rio's mother told the Tampa Bay Times.

People's criminal records — including charges that were later dropped — were fed into the algorithm to determine potential future offenders. Former employees of the sheriff's office said deputies were instructed to visit the homes of people the algorithm selected, charge them with zoning violations, and make arrests for any reason they could. Those violations and arrests were then fed back into the algorithm, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Thats like the movie Minority Report... there was another one involving with an artificial intelligence "Sphynx" that was similar, wish i could remember.

Thousands of British food businesses could be left without the correct labelling required to continue selling to the European Union and Northern Ireland after the UK government missed an industry deadline to advise them on what new rules they will have to follow.

Britain will leave the EU's trading rules at the end of this year, after which the labels that British food and drink businesses use will no longer be legally recognised on the continent.

UK trade associations repeatedly warned Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government that the end of August was the absolute deadline for issuing guidance that will allow them to produce new labels in time for January 1.

However, with just four months to go, they are still waiting for clarity from the UK government on the labelling rules they will have to follow in 2021.

If the government actually wanted to do it, couldnt they sort it out in a week? How impossibly hard can it be if you hired the required experts?

This just seems like payback against Northern Ireland for not submitting to the Brexit, regardless of their own economical and human loses they will suffer.

What worries me more is the outright glee with which his actions are being defended by the "mainstreamers" of Neo-Nazi bullshit into acceptable rightwing discourse. Most notably Tucker Carlson, of course, but also a whole host of lesser known, if no less influential, online pundits. Once they're able to justify straight-up travelling to murder protestors...well, we know where that leads.

Word in the meme badlands is justifying the murders because "someone threw a molotov at him" so he gunned him down, and that the other two people he killed were in self defense after he tripped and was getting mobbed.

So he's a vigilante hero that was defending his community and private property against the "DidNuffinsWrong" that "want anarchy" and "is ironic they called the police on him, since they want to defund it".

Nevermind the underage illegal possession of a weapon and crossing state lines and the incitement to violence.

I can just see it, trialed as a minor, community service, some sob story, joins the police force as a hero.

Although I get most of my news from memes, it was truly funny that 6 out of 12 speakers had the last name Trump. Nepotism where?
