Quote from: Mandelbrot Slapper on Yesterday at 10:31:50 PMOh I'm sure he's sacrificed some underling. He's not averse to throwing anyone under the bus to save his own saggy arse. Made a career out of it. Well out of that & nicking..Well ... given the quotation in the title of the following article, I wouldn't bet the farm on the POSOTUS aiming his catchphrase at a "staffer" today:
Trump won't apologize for sharing since-deleted racist video depicting Obamas as apes on Truth Social
As per this article:
"President Donald Trump refused to apologize Friday after posting and then deleting a racist video depicting former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as apes in a jungle, insisting he hadn't seen the final frames containing the offensive content and blaming a staffer for the mistake"
And, as per further along in this article:
"Trump said after he watched the first section of the video, he passed it on to a staffer, who he said should have watched it to the end.
"Somebody slipped and missed a very small part," he said.
But when asked directly whether he would apologize amid GOP calls to do so, he declined.
"No," he said. "I didn't make a mistake.""
Now, U.S. President Harry S. Truman kept a sign on his desk that read "The BUCK STOPS here!" But, the POSOTUS has little in common with "Give 'em Hell, Harry!" (My father, a Democrat, liked to refer to him as "High tax Harry.")
Quote from: Mandelbrot Slapper on Yesterday at 10:31:50 PMNow I think at this time, as the foundations are laid for rise of The Turd Reich, everyone should read a fabulous early 20th century novel called The Berlin of Sally Bowles by Christopher Isherwood.I'm not familiar with any of the works of Christopher Isherwood. But, I'll put your recommendation on my future reading list.
Lovely depiction of what happens to a dying imperial power's society when the rabble is hungry enough to be thoroughly roused.
There was quite a good Broadway show of it as well. But do read the book.
