yeah i think i'll download it and mess around with the free account thing they're offering now and see if it's worth investing time or effort into.

yeah it's real time chat. you walk around in a 3d world so you could be sitting in a cafe type building in the game talking to the other people there, for example. You can just go wherever you want in the world and talk to whoever you find. There are tons of major cities and then also more remote areas and such.

it's on online virtual world where you create a character and do stuff. like a huge 3d chatroom but you can create your own content with 3d modelling and C/Java style scripting. you can buy/sell land, etc. you can covert real money to/from in game currency, there are people with businesses in game that end up turning real life profits.

people make all sorts of things from mini arcade style games to strip clubs to nascar style racing simulations in the game.

it's been getting more press lately, lots of people are starting to take it seriously. intel occasionally gives press releases inside of second life, i heard the swedish government opened up an office there, etc.

you can play it for free or pay $10 which nets you the privelage of owning property and gives you a weekly allowance of ingame cash.

lots of people think it'll be the new wave of the future or something, a world where people can come together and chat or do whatever. think there's any potential for some erisian evangelism or whatever you want to call it?

has anyone here done anything with second life? it's getting pretty popular, governments and politicians and major corporations are setting up offices in second life and holding press conferences and Q&A sessions and such.

So what?  The world is overpopulated anyway.  And anarchy doesn't imply violence, except to the close minded.

I didn't say sit and contemplate for hours, but the young ones(and often the older ones as well) have a tendency to not think at all then act in ways that causes them to feel guilty later.  Think just long enough to be sure you won't beat yourself up later, but not so long that your opponent will beat you up now

heh that's interesting because a clan i game with just came to this same reallization last night when we all reallized there was a lot of flaming going on between members in the forum. so now we have two peaceful forums (at least it seems more peaceful here than it was).

seems he was mad at me because i exposed gitmo's troll alt, while not exposing others. he accused me of playing favorites and using gonzales style US justice on the forums and all that jazz, and in the end i decided that i probably shouldn't have done it so i dropped out of St Trinian's Circle. ah well. live and learn.

I think you felt like you were attacked and reacted without thinking.  Think of this as a lesson.  When you feel attacked, stop and think

1  Am I being attacked, am I paranoid, or both.

2  If I am being attacked, wtf is up.

3  Revenge is a dish best served cold.  Take note of the offense and wait for the right time to get even.  It's more fun and more effective.

4  If you react too fast, just chill out and let it go.

5  You knew there would be 5, right?

yeh roger really pissed me off, i felt like i was attacked, and my reaction was stupid. thanks for pointing it out to me. retrospectively, i reallize that roger was more right than i let myself reallize.

cookie dough + milk is an awesome combination. almost as good as a banana + american cheese (just wrap the cheese around the banana, mr rogers taught me that one).

forget the machinery. who needs cookies when you can eat the dough instead. it's delicious, but if you eat too much, the eggs can GET YOU.
