Title: ZOMBIELAND
Post by: Suu on October 02, 2009, 02:48:18 PM
 :fap:

It was all I ever wanted in a zombie movie and MORE. I order my Principality and their allies to go see this movie, immediately.

The Providence Journal gave it 5 stars. That's surprising, because they hate movies.

All advance screenings do it. It's so we don't film it and put it on the interwebs. Typically they make us leave our purses and phones outside, but they let us bring them in this time. Instead, the men in the black suits and Blueteeth walked around up and down the aisles looking for idiots who were filming. Fortunately, no one in Providence is smart enough to film movies.

but screeners really suck anyway! even the good ones. often, after having seen a screener, I'm even more likely to watch the movie for real in better quality* than I was before.

(*read: wait for the DVDRip)

but seriously (putting on my "respect4copyrights" hat), it still shows the contempt big corps have for the consumer. there's (IMO) no way such an invasion of privacy weighs up against their potential loss of revenue. Only one reasonably watchable screener has to reach the torrent sites and all that wanding, inconveniencing people that actually contribute to their revenue, will have been for nothing. Even given that it's forbidden to do, they just don't understand the economics of the information age.

hell I even wonder if they add it all up, how can it be even worth it for them? the screeners will get on the net anyway, so isn't all this security theater just throwing away money?

.. or creating jobs, if you wanna be optimistic :-P

well, same reasoning goes for all the airport bullshit of course.

From what I understand, it's the production company that does the security measures for screeners, god only knows that the Providence Place Mall Cinemas could give 2 shits. If it wasn't for those stupid cunts going through my purse I could have snuck in candy.  :argh!:

When I used to work as an usher at a theater the management used to lean on me heavily to walk in during movies and look for cameras...

but,
if it didn't have to do with sitting on my ass and eating popcorn all day, it didn't get done.

This movie looks hilarious--I can't wait to see it.  And I've never been wanded or searched...and I smuggle candy in all the time.

In fact, it's a testament to how lax the security in our theaters is when I plainly walked in on 2 teens having oral sex (well, a gf giving her bf a bj) with my sis-in-law before we saw a girlie movie a couple of weeks ago.

The Loew's theater in this area lets you bring in your own food/drink now. Of course the tickets are $10 each now, so I tend to say fuck that anyway unless we're really desperate to see a movie (rarely) or if someone gave us movie passes. Chunky's is sometimes good cuz the tickets are cheaper than everywhere else around here and they serve actual food (and booze!) to have while you watch the movie. Plus, if you wanna go and not eat you pay at least $3 less a ticket than most places around here. Only problem is their weird hours and sometimes getting good or new movies and other times getting crappy movies, since the one near me only has 3 theaters. The other branches might be better tho.

I'm hoping we can see Zombieland soon, if not, it'll be the wait til DVD

I liked it better than Shaun.  Maybe I just identified with the characters more, or something.  I think the existence of a male in a father-like role was a nice touch; maybe I'm watching the wrong movies but men always seem to be either hard guys or eligible bachelors.

You need to watch girlier movies, because in girlie movies guys are A: the doting (or overly protective) fathers of pretty young brides/teenagers, B: the handsome bachelor who finds himself mentoring some hapless waif and then falls in love with its mother, or C: the struggling-yet-keeping-it-together single dad who is too busy to date so the children concoct a hilarious plan to make him fall in love with the pretty lady at the (fill in the blank) shop.

The main theme of these movies, in order:

Dad learns that his precious angel is grown and it's time to let her go

Bachelor with knack for parenting rescues single mom

Spinster with a knack for parenting rescues single dad

Rescuing is big with girls, it would seem. One way or another. God knows there's nothing I like more than a hot mess.

you forget to mention that invariably, somewhere around 2/3rds of the movie everything seems just great, and then some misunderstanding occurs that could have been prevented if they'd let eachother finish talking, or if she had picked up the phone, or if he had believed "this is not what it seems" etc etc etc and then they're all angry and then something hilariously complicated happens and everything turns out for the best.

nope I do my movie browsing based soly upon the top 100 section of torrent sites.

Something I've not seen before that zooms in with millions of seeds 6 times out of ten is something watchable.

Here's a tip:

Get up, turn your computer off.

Put pants on.

Yes, that's right, one leg at a time...take off the sock first. No no, you know what sock I'm talking about.

Go upstairs from the basement and out of the house, you may need sunscreen for your translucent skin, I know, it hurts...

Pick up a printed newspaper.

Read movie reviews.

Go to your local theatre.

Enjoy something that you read a review of to your liking and support the film company by doing so.

You're linking to an unauthorized copy of a movie that is illegally posted on the internet and suggesting that people view it on a public forum.

No, that's not bad, at all.
Title: Re: ZOMBIELAND
Post by: Shit on November 01, 2009, 09:52:44 PM
I'm not so sure it's illegal. It shouldn't be illegal, in any case.  There's several places to find those kinds of movies on the net, and they aren't entirely free, or illegal.  The website I linked only lets you watch like 1 and a half movies before they ask you to pay not to be interupted.  The internet is growing, and so are the laws and customs.  Whatever the case, I didn't do anything wrong.  Except for caring about the Discordians enough to post that link.  Freaking spagblisters.
Title: Re: ZOMBIELAND
Post by: Triple Zero on November 01, 2009, 10:08:31 PM
Well the question is not if it's illegal (it's not), but whether you can get sued for it, which you can, kind of. However, so far the only successful cases against the mere act of linking to copyrighted intellectual property were only successful because it could be proven that the purpose of the site was in fact to facilitate users to search a huge database of links to copyrighted material. Such as the Pirate Bay (torrent files, containing no copyrighted data themselves, were considered as links for the purposes of this lawsuit).

In other words, the occasional link on a forum to some rapidshit or megavidelyo isn't going to post much of a threat.

Hxxp'ing the link, just to be sure, wouldn't hurt though.

(but neither would it accomplish much, cause the only thing you prevent is from showing up in the target site's referral logs, a site which was doing illegal stuff in the first place, so I don't think they will report their referral logs much)

I'm not not very comfortable with it either way, In ireland they are currently making examples of people who host materials. I know its linked but the law on that isn't tested yet here, and I'd rather not be the test case. I hope this doesn't make me seem like too much of a dick, but its just my view that there's no need to link it here, you can find it in seconds if you go to one of the big file sharing sites like projectw or something.

won't happen again.

so does this mean that ALL uk / eire based internet traffic is being snooped for keywords now?

'd have hours of fun mis-labeling links, flies etc if I lived there still. :P

I watch our top traffic coming from google,
occasionally "Insert film name" +"rapidshare" will rise to the top of our searches from google, at which point I get rid of the links.
but yeah mislabeling links of those to go to the fish would be a fun idea.
we could actually have a file sharing thread like the worst forum on the internet thread with nothing but goatse links and the like.

So Space Cowboy and I saw Zombieland on Sunday. Neither of us liked it that much, and I love zombie movies. He described it as "Basically a two-hour music video" and I can't disagree, plus the romance subplot irritated me, the "people doing obviously stupid things" element irritated me, and the whole Bill Murray sequence just made me uncomfortable.

I loved Woody Harrelson, though.

I think I would have liked it better if I'd paid three dollars for it instead of ten.

Yeah, seriously! That evening was OK, but fuck sake, we EACH spent $60. Dinner, movie, ONE drink at a bar. $120, just like that, and we've had just as much or more fun spending $10 at the Red Fox, eating leftovers, and watching a Netflix.
