so, i'm getting really big into alternative ways to grow crops n shit, because while my fiancee really wants to go a traditional farm that uses horse technology route, i think the reality is just really going to be way too onerous for the two of us alone to produce the majority of our food for, what, minimum of five people at this point, two of those have dedicated incomes from outside sources (bee is one of them), two of us are severely impaired by chronic illness (i'm one of them), and then boi is gonna be a teen so probably not real hot on unpaid labor, which is totally fair i feel.

i really like the idea of going with grow bags and sack farming, because you can grow so fucking much food in a square meter cube, it's ridiculous.

how much space do you have?

none, at the moment. they're working their student debt off, and i'm waiting for SSI hearings. we're hoping for at least a couple acres of property, but who knows honestly when we'll even be ready. ideally, a property with ten or more acres, which isn't impossible in some states, but we might have to settle, which is fine tbh! sack farming would do us well, and i've done a lot of research into how to feasibly do aquaponics and hydroponics.

One of those insipid sci-fi cautionary tales about new technology and not playing god (ie. things like "Frankenstein", "Jurassic Park", "Event Horizon", "The Lazarus Effect", "Forbidden Planet", and any movie where a sentient AI computer takes control of the world's nukes), except about some already existing and well established and more-or-less uncontroversial technology (such as air travel, or blood transfusions, or motion pictures) that everyone already knows to have no such issues, but which is presented as having serious and omnipervasive moral and safety issues of a highly dubious nature. A recipient of a blood transfusion might start exhibiting all of the donor's negative personality traits for example, or an airplane might somehow leave the atmosphere and drift off helplessly into space, or somethong like that.

I think there's a desire for extreme change immediately considering what we've been dealing with the past four years (to start). I also think that gets caught up in the reality of incremental change over time, constitutional deadlocks and so on. Provided a person's intentions are to work within the system for change, the long game is, unfortunately (maybe),  the way it works.
