Literate Chaotic / The Worst Dark Lord Ever

Stephen King's Crimson King character in the his final Dark Tower novel was a huge disappointment. I kept imagining Tim the Sorcerer from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Of course this was a huge improvement over Tolkien's Suaron who never actually appears in the Lord of the Rings except as an abstract. As bad as Jordan's Wheel of Time is at least his Dark Lord presents a real danger to the protagonists.
