QuoteUpdated 5:01 p.m. - Republicans in the House voted Thursday to cite Attorney General Eric Holder for contempt of Congress in a politically-charged vote stemming from an investigation into alleged gun-running by the U.S. government.
The House voted 255-67, with one member voting "present," to cite Holder for criminal contempt. Most Democrats, led by the Congressional Black Caucus, abstained from the vote and staged a walk-out. But 17 conservative moderate and Democrats voted in favor of the resolution; two Republicans broke ranks to oppose it.
THAT'LL TEACH 'EM!
Knocking off work early- how your congressman gets shit done.
Im convinced that politicians are high schoolers with high paying part time jobs.

I'm convinced that the democratic party is that fat kid in high school that gets his ass kicked every day, and never lifts a finger to defend himself...Telling himself that pacifism is the "moral" thing to do, when in fact, he just helplessly gets his ass kicked.
Sounds about right. The party is useless.

Yep. There won't be an iota of retaliation for this. Hell, 17 democrats voted in FAVOR of it.
Between this and Obama's refusal to even CONSIDER prosecuting people for torture (they were only "following orders", if you recall), Obama gets the coveted Mike Dukakis Award For Being A Great Big Pussy.

side note dukakis can apparently be seen wandering boston picking up litter from time to time. Ive heard this from a few different people. Its an interesting passtime for a former governor.
Most of my co-workers are registered Democrats. When we were riding to the capital yesterday I took the opportunity to educate them on the error of their ways citing shit exactly like what TGRR posted. They are completely worthless and only serve to make things worse. It is precisely because of the stupid Democrats that I have to suffer Governor AssFace in my Blaine House.
But the Democratic Party does exactly what they say they will do: nothing. They're a Centrist party, not a "Liberal" one. Just because they're the closest thing we have to a liberal party doesn't mean it's their fault when they fail to live up to liberals' hopes. It's still the fault of the Actual Left for not forming and promoting an Actual Leftist Party.

DAMN YUO, OBAMA!
I'm an ignoramus - but what does citing Holder for contempt actually do? Election year politics, obviously - but does this damage the executive branch's ability to function or is it more of a symbolic gesture? Does Holder get criminally charged now, and if so, who prosecutes the Attorney General?
While this is clearly election year power-politics, isn't it also +1 for government transparency? Executive privileges sounds like a really fishy reason to hide something related to the US government delivering guns to drug cartels.

Judging by the way things have been going, I'd assume it'll be a +1 for government transparency where it suits the government to be transparent.
So, +1 for them to do the same old bullshit.

1. It can put you in prison.
2. Last administration, Bush & Cheney told congress to go choke on a dick. "We'll testify, but not under oath". The democrat congress said "okay", looked at their feet, and kicked the dust a little. This isn't "transparency", it's the GOP smacking the dems around for cheap kicks.
3. The timing is interesting. 2 hours after the court ruled on ACA, they hit Holder with the contempt charge.
Holder has also been stepping on the GOP's voter suppression efforts.

Yep. He's not a saint, mind you, but at least he isn't Janet Reno or Alberto Gonzales.
