I'm inclined to think that most anyone here who would be interested in the following is already aware via FB, but what the hell, it's not like I'm going to have many opportunities to milk this situation.
SO.
Today I went outside for a cigarette around noon, picked up some quick groceries, and aimed back toward home. Then I noticed my car--parked on the street in front of my building--looked a little funny.
Then I noticed that it looked a little funny because IT DIDN'T HAVE WHEELS.

Thanks, car thieves, for picking the shittiest ten year old car on the block! Enjoy my fancy snow tires, you miserable fucks.
The end!
Shit.....
I missed this of FB complete. I'm sorry Eve, that sucks donkey balls.
Wait.
Don't you live in Brookline?
That SUCKS! What assfucks.
Seriously! The fuck!
My brother's reaction was the same as yours, Twid: "Wait, this happened in Brookline?"
I live in a safe part of Brighton, although Fidelis Way is a fairly well known project right across the street. There hasn't been too much crime-related activity, although a man was shot there in April ( :? ) so.. there's that.

It happens everywhere from time to time. Even Newton gets its share. But those are some messed up odds right there. Sorry it happened.
(To outsiders, Brookline is a town surrounded by, but not a part of, Boston and neighboring city, Newton. It's considered to be generally pretty safe and mostly populated by Eastern European Jews and Boston College students.)
Now that I think about it... considered fairly safe, fairly affluent area, short drive from several cities (Brighton is included in this area)...
Prime target.
Don't forget the affluent hippies, Twid!
If only my car had been parked in Brookline. It would have been towed because they don't allow overnight street parking, but it would have kept its wheels.

I thought the hippies were in LMNOtown, and the hipsters in Allston?

You should run for Bahstin. We need more competition. So far it's just me, LMNO, and Junkenstein, who lives in the UK.

If LMNOtown = Cambridge or JP, then yes, but also in Brookline. To clarify, I'm talking about the hippies that spend 50% extra to ensure that their designer clothes are made out of all natural fibers and whatnot.

JP.
That was actually my previous neighborhood, if you subtract the month crashing with Villager.
(Currently in Somerville, Villager is in Dot.)
I lived in Brookline maybe about... 4 years, 5 years ago? And I lived off of Beacon between Coolidge Corner and Reservoir. Matter of fact, more often than not I took the D Line from Beaconsfield, even though the C line was slightly closer.
Was with the roommate who eventually became my ex that I told you about in the car back from CT.

Indeed I do.
Though, I used to have your number (presumably you still have mine). My phone had an unfortunate work sink lapse of judgment. So, I no longer have your number. PM incoming.

You lived down the road! When I moved to Boston in '09, I lived right in Cleveland Circle. I usually took the D line to and from Copley while working at Borders.

Cityside always has, and always will be, my favorite bar.
Maryanne's is a hellhole in the wall.
Cityside is one of my favorites! Do they still have trivia nights?
I went into Maryanne's once, got my fill of unnecessary double IDing, BC douche bags, and cheap beer spilled all over me. All in 20 minutes! Never, never again.

i only did trivia night once at Cityside. Maryanne's just sucks, unless you want cheap beer and BC. Maryanne's serves its purpose. I prefer Maryanne's in summer, when it's slow and there are no people 10 years younger to you listening to music you knew was shitty when you were 10, just because.

My main reason for going to Cityside was that myself and the Northern Irish (but Catholic) bartender had a bit of the "You're cute, so I'm going to overtip you." "You overtipped me last time so I'm going to buy you a beer" "You bought me a beer, so I'm going to overtip you" sort of dynamic.
Mind you, this was back before 2008 when I could afford such shenanigans.
That sucks, Eve. :(

That e-card is awesome. :P
At least they were kind enough to leave it on blocks instead of sitting on the undercarriage?
It's more like a dingy aluminum lining than a silver lining, but hey.
Hi, eve!
Sucks about your car.
Like I said in IRC, it could have been worse: they could have left your wheels and stolen the rest of the car.
A dingy aluminum lining is better than none at all! Here's hoping the tow truck didn't do too much damage to her.
Cain drives correct motorcycle, of course--it certainly could have been worse. (My mom seemed to think it would have been better if they had stolen the whole thing? I don't understand her logic there.)
Hi LMNO!

Hi LMNO!
I'm sorry about your wheels, that sucks.
It would have been good to have the whole thing stolen if it was insured, I suppose...
Are the wheels covered?
I've never had my wheels stolen
Usually if the whole car is stolen the insurance company will just give you a check for the Blue Book value, whereas if it's damaged (ie, the wheels being stolen) you have to pay a deductible and then they cover the rest of the cost of the repair.
