I was on holiday while all this was going on, so I only got the chance to check the odd Guardian frontpage every now and again. While telling my family about these riots, my Granddad was cracking me up -- his first response to me telling everyone about what was happening was "Well, we should just shoot the lot of 'em." When I stopped laughing and told him that shooting people was one of the reasons WHY everyone was rioting, he resorted to the normal old person platitudes about how young people aren't disciplined enough these days. He also at one point said "I assume this is because of these gangs of blacks" and spent about fifteen minutes trying to tell me that the majority of riots are mostly giant organised conspiracies.

Also, thanks to everyone posting links and stuff ITT -- it's hard to keep abreast of stuff like this on crappy Spanish internet (especially when you have sun and a Kindle to distract you) but everything in here has been really informative and interesting!

The story above cracked me up! (and kinda scared me a bit) The guy Robert Cavanaugh, or 'xyz,' who Lulzsec apparently pinned the blame on, used to hang out on this private site I'm on... He used to do drugs on Tinychat at one point (I'm pretty sure the picture in the link was taken while I was watching him) and then he got more into the hacking stuff, just general script kiddying and fairly low level stuff as far as I was aware. He posts on this forum one time a few months back -- "oh shit guys something fucked up just happened, I gotta bail from the internet," we hear nothing from him for a few weeks, then he comes back with a different nick. Aaaand now. Well. Nobody's seen him for a while now.

I just got mine today. It's funny you should mention Bachmann really -- we're doing US Politics in class at the moment, and it seems the more I learn about her, the more disgusted (also amazed and amused) I get. I'm going to attempt a response, btw, but it'll take a while for postage and all that.

I watched the extended version last night -- I actually feel like it made the movie a whole lot better. I'm still not gunna say it was a fantastic movie, but I think that the extended scenes really help the plot, especially as a lot of them help to improve the "mirroring" between the "levels" (for example the sex scene that got cut out - the dialogue is referring to the lobotomy but also to sex). also more action is always cool. oh and i forgot how much I adore the soundtrack.

it's not, no. i'm not sure if the extended cut was even released on DVD, so if it isn't at least a 720p rip it probably isn't. the non-extended one is still worth a watch, btw, but if you have the option i'd try and get hold of the extended cut

My mother figured out it was a dream within a dream, and she wasn't even watching the film.  She was checking her emails and barely even looked at the TV.

Also, going to watch Sucker Punch either tonight or tomorrow.

the Extended Edition? if it's not, I would be tempted to say not to bother - I watched the pg-13 cut for cinema Snyder had to make to get it past the MPAA without them giving it an R and it was mediocre at best. downloaded the Extended Cut last night, a lot of people I've seen have said that it's a lot better than the cinema one
