When it comes to being challenged in combat I like Mount & Blade: Warband. There are a lot of options you can set to make it as hard as you want to.

Especially controlling attack and block directions manually and setting damage to player at least at normal makes for very fun battles.

Hey, remember we have to stop Iran from building nuclear reactors because they'll give uranium to terrorists who will make dirty bombs?

Well...

QuoteIsrael built and exploded so-called "dirty bombs," explosives laced with nuclear material, to examine how such explosions would affect the country if it were to be attacked by the crude radioactive weapons, the Haaretz daily newspaper reported Monday.

Israeli defense officials and scientists refused to comment on the report when reached by The Associated Press. However, Israel has what is widely considered to be an extensive nuclear weapons program that it has never declared.

The Haaretz report, which included photographs, said the project conducted 20 detonations with explosives laced with a radioactive substance. Mini-drones measured radiation levels and sensors logged the force of the explosions, Haaretz reported.

Researchers quoted in the Haaretz report said the Israeli tests were for defensive purposes only. They said high radiation was found at the center of blasts while small particles carried by wind didn't pose serious danger, except for the psychological effect of such an attack.

The newspaper said the project, code-named "Green Field" and conducted by staff from Israel's nuclear reactor in the southern town of Dimona, ended in 2014 after four years of tests. Most were conducted in Israel's Negev Desert and one in a closed facility, it said.

But that's Israel, so it's different. They're white.
Yea, but they're the wrong white. You need the blonde haired, blue eyed white people. Any German from the 1930's could have told you that.

Most of the israelis I know ARE blond and blue eyed... because they're of German Jewish stock.

Most Germans aren't blond, so ancestry can't be the only reason.
There must be another reason why blond haired Jews were more likely to survive the Holocaust...

Light brown: 20-49% light hair
Middle brown:  1-19% light hair
Dark brown: not defined, probably less that 1% light hair

high minimum wage is very good for the economy, just compare the economies of countries with a high minimum wage with countries with a low or no minimum wage.

Fuck the minimum wage, throw around the concept of "Maximum wage" and things get interesting.
We actually have that here, no-one is supposed to earn more than the prime minister.

It's pretty much just simple fucking economics. I am astounded by how many people cannot seem to see that.
Your 'simple economics' leaves no room for punishing the poor! How will they feed their punishment fetish without that?!

The only thing I took issue with was that the editor-in-chief dude thought I was excusing "hearts and minds", which I sorta WAS, but in the 1945 sense, not the 1965 sense.

I wasn't "excusing" it, really.  I was describing something EFFECTIVE.  As compared to the shit that went on 20 years later.

I'll take a history lesson and some horror. The Hershey bar thing was news to me, what was the '65 fuckup? It's got to be something to do with Vietnam, right? Bringing troops, "training" and equipment instead of luxury foods?

Is this tumblr-kid, Nigel?

YEP. Middle kid, who is my mini-me, blocked Tumblr here, so that may change things.

Could also explain some of their recent behaviour.  Throwing into the mix tumblr's general unhelpful attitude towards mental illness something along those lines could explain quite a bit.

Oh he did that maybe 2 weeks ago? She just returned home last night.

I hope this means things are going better between you two?

Yes, happily!
Yay!

Be very careful about the loan and the lease conditions.
Other than that, sounds good.

I just used almost completely forgotten statistics knowledge to figure out why our workload is so hard to predict.
It is worse than i thought.
I had completely forgotten how standard deviations worked and what they actually mean.
At least now I know that planning is pointless since the STDEV is half as big as the average.
So there is a 68,2% chance that we need between half and 1,5x the average number of workers.

I would need to collect more detailed data to say more though. I can think of a few things that would give us a handle on things.
I shouldn't be doing this though, it is not in my job description. Then again, I don't have a current job description, i stopped doing that job in January.  :argh!:

In these tense situations, it often pays to take a moment to reflect:

What will the consequences be if we allow this sort of thing to continue?

Bigots will get confused about who to hate, they will solve this by hating everyone. They won't immediately notice but this will make people hate them less. Since the amount of hate a bigot generates is mostly made up of the way others feel about him this will result in a net decrease in hate.

Top down positive discrimination will be abused more often and consequently either more strictly regulated or abolished.

Other than that the price of Texas Instruments calculators will stay exactly the same, the economy will go through another bubble, and Permafrost will keep melting. But that would have happened anyway.

Bigots will use their now legitimized experiences with ethnic tourism to add punch to their arguments that the only barrier between the "black-born" and wealth and privilege is their character...because after all, I was black for 2 years and look at me...and besides there's nothing saying that a dark-skinned black person can't be white, after all.
You are aware that i just steered the discussion and gave you a position to defend, right?
You have just defended the position opposite of mine: The one where people should get locked up for pretending to be of a different race than their parents are.
Unless you know of a way to not allow things without involving The Law, you are effectively strengthening the idea that your race is a thing the government needs to know.

What would a police race-check look like? Will everyone have to practice stereotypical behaviour daily so they can give a convincing show when they are pulled over?

I can't claim it's great literature, or that it's literally great, or that it's particularly literate, but it's a Book !
In fact it's an Electronic Book. It's fantasy. It's Catch 23 meets Harry Potter, meets Game of Thrones, meets the Hobbit, possibly with acid involved. they certainly drink so interesting tea!
Anyhow, if you Dollars to throw away, why not throw them my way, for a funny Ebook!

Catch 23 is several seafood restaurants.

Also, according to urban dictionary it is:
Quote1. Revenge for the happening of a catch or catch-22.

2. A consequence for lies or a deceptive course of action.

3. An act of solving a problem by creating a larger problem.

Harry Potter = Ridiculously stupid and inconsistent magic system. Also, irresponsible authority figures.
Game of Thrones = Almost no magic. Also, main characters die.
The hobbit = A story where the hero consistently saves his employers by using common sense, apparently he is the only one who has it.

So we have irresponsible authority figures, important characters die all the time, and common sense is uncommon. In this damn boring setting I would bloody well need acid to keep awake.

The rest of your post makes me not want to read anything you write.

At least she doesn't identify as a sports-fan.

Wait, maybe she does, how would I know?

If she does identify as multiple things my opinion changes:
In that case I think she has a personality varied enough to respect her as a person.
