"At the teaparties they only dunked bags into cups of water...because they didn't want to break the law. And that just about sums up America's revolutionary spirit."

Besides... its hardly as though we are going to go out of our way /not/ to open the eyes of a certain type of person. If the methods we eventually settle on do win over a few Greyfaces, all the bette,r but I wouldn't hold your breath.

We need to rig us an election  :P

Of course... which party to put in would be a totally different matter, but... yeah...

Worst case scenario?

Dude... look around, nobody seems to be openly questioning the government on the major issues, we don't have freedom of speech any more, our civil liberties are screwed, and nobody seems to care. I hate to say it, I really do, but if ever there was a time when it is necessary to set aside the 'everyone can be saved' ideal, it is now.
What I'm trying to say is that we need to wake a few more people up, and not worry so much about the feelings of the Greyfaces. I say that is where we draw the line, wake up as many as we can, but if you are actively going to oppose the process of waking people up... you are on the other side of that line.

I'm afraid not everyone can be saved, there are those who would rather kill you or even themselves than accept that any other view than theirs even has any credence, there are people so set in their ways that any outside view is a definite threat and must be eliminated... the traditional Discordian enemy has always been these people- the Greyfaces. They simply won't accept change, and their numbers grow as do the numbers of the hapless ones we actually can 'turn'

Very powerful words, the problem as I see it is that the Land of Thud is all around... there is nowhere on this earth that is not Thud, or is not at least touched by Thud. How, then, can we ever truly escape it?

You forget...

Wolfpoet is a Catholic.

if he didn't suffer, there would be something horribly wrong with that statement

I dunno... I think what he just described is quite a nice, neat Discordian view. For Lo, did Eris not say unto her children, "You are Free."? The entire basis of this little rag-tag thing we call discordianism is freedom, and deciding that you are going to selfishly claim every moment as being yours seems... well, a step in the right direction.

I think people are missing the point... I think I can get where Wolfpoet is coming from.

The basic flaw I see in most of your interpretations of this is the assumption that death is negative. Death doesn't have to be negative, it only is if you let it be, I think this is the message Wolfpoet is giving.

What he is saying is that the first step to taking the system head on is to stop fearing death, stop giving a damn about material things, and start acting Right, if you Do Unto Others and all that, that is a step towards making the people around you aware of the shit that they put themselves and others through without even realizing it.

I could be totally misinterpreting what he is saying, but that is what I think he means.

Also... I think he sounds agitated because people don't seem to get where he is coming from, which- you gotta admit- is pretty darn annoying.

You know... this actually makes a lot of sense. People fear death, and it is being used to justify so much in the world at the moment...

damn, I'd almost forgotten that the world is going to hell for a moment there, thanks LHX

There was was a man from seattle
Who saw people as nothing but cattle
He took up a knife
Ended some lives
All because of their mindless prattle.

Who said limericks have to be happy?

Bow down and worship the Money, citizen. You should have someone look at that homicidal instinct for you, I hear the experts are having a special offer- buy one cure, get a soothing of your inner child absolutely free! Perhaps when you are cured, you can find time to buy an iPod, the latest car and every other materialistic possession you need to ensure that you are not considered filth by your friends and/or relations!

Have a nice day, and remember, the computer is your friend!
