Apple Talk / Re: Why Young People Fill Me With HATE.

In the meantime, I think I'll do some living.

You know that in a decade, swarms of these things will be eating the look of horror right off domestic terrorist's faces.  The only thing that can comfort me now is that it's legal to own a flamethrower.  Ironically, because they're the only effective defense against killer bees.

I'm a screwed up 25 year old, and I approve this message.

Lately I have been acquainted with heartburn, wrinkles, and more than the occasional grey hair.  I drink tea more often than coffee now, can't stand anybody who doesn't act at least twice my age, and I grin inwardly when little kids scream and cry in department stores because you fucking know nothing is wrong except the toy shaped hole in their bleeding hearts.

I dread 30 because I seem to be getting older, faster.  It's like I'm falling down a spiral DNA staircase at 32ft/s2.  As if this wasn't bad enough, I seem to be, perversely, enjoying it.

What the fuck.

Reeducation, if you'd said that the 8 circuit theory was bad based on it not making predictions, or being unfalsifiable, or made some kind of argument based on its quality as a theory like that, then maybe people would have responded better.  Instead, you gave them "8 circuits in my ass".

We all have fun making fun of RAW, but still many people here do respect him.

Or Kill Me / Re: sense beyond senses
« on: February 02, 2012, 04:18:44 pm »
Transcendence in philosophy means to go completely beyond and outside of the world.  Additional senses would take you in the opposite direction; more in touch with the world.

Perhaps what is truly desired is just that.  To know the world more intimately.  When I was young I wanted to live forever, but as I age I realize more and more I just want to live fully.

Psychonauts of NASA’s inner-space program plant an American flag in an alternate dimension already inhabited by aliens.

That's pretty cool!

Everyone knows astrophysicists spout the goofiest bullshit they can dream up.  And their ringleader is a grinning cadaver in a talking chair.

The worst part is that reality is on their side.  It is appropriate to feel very out of place in the universe because of this.

PS, wasn't ignoring the insult because I don't care, but because I was trying to turn a bad situation into an interesting discussion.  It really is an unforgivable breach of trust, and I hope something of a top-floor-of-a-boat nature happens to their toilet.

I've heard tell of designs where planes lift rocket shuttles high up for them to escape orbit, so it might be a credible idea.

I would happily donate to the cause if I found a credible group doing the work.  I'm more of a cog/neuro guy myself.

The strength of peer review is obviously based on the strength of community scrutiny.  It isn't effective if the readership can't think critically.

Oh, well, in the case of free online porn?  I dunno, I doubt it's possible to enact a moral regarding viewing amateur porn that extends beyond "don't seek out unconsenting porn"  (revenge tapes et al).  Anything more would constitute a thought crime IMO, and I don't regulate my internal workings like that.  Makes me neurotic to try.

Put it in realpolitik terms:

What do you have to gain by informing her?

Nothing, as near as I can tell.

What do you have to lose by informing her?

Just a friendship.

Yep. Not that we're particularly close these days anyway, but I do like to talk to her here and there. She's living out of state and has a wife (and no, that wasn't the category- her video buddy was a dude) and seems to be settling into the being married thing.

Given that, DO NOT TELL HER.

Didn't know it could wreck a marriage.  Don't tell.  2nded.

hmm, would it have been badwrong to wank to it? i mean, if it was known that it was available without her consent, then yeah.  but if it's not, then...  is it badwrong in the case of any video where it isn't explicitly clear that it is a production piece, and has their full consent?  could be, huh?

so, was it a surreptitious type video, or one that she obviously knew was being made?
also, there's sites that cater specifically to 'revenge vids' of ex-girlfriends.  which is pretty fucked up.

The rule of consent that I follow is that if consent cannot be determined, then the default is no.
