Title: A question about Aleppo
Post by: East Coast Hustle on December 15, 2016, 08:28:11 AM
Would it not be feasible to fire supplies into the besieged area of Aleppo with short range missiles? Doesn't require risking engagement with Russian aircraft in hostile airspace, doesn't require ground involvement, and can even be done through intermediaries in the name of plausible deniability.

Thoughts?

I wish we, as a world, had the sort of spine our fathers had. That's all I got. The rest is pointless to share as it's less helpful than a fusilage stuffed with "supplies" crashing down among a bunch of unskilled, wounded, and dying folks.

I'm not trying to be a jerk. Just SO TIRED.  :kingmeh:
Thing is this is just the beginning.

The principle problem with this is that there's isn't much besieged Aleppo left, it's just about overrun, and Assad's forces are "executing" entire neighborhoods as they are secured.

Also, our missiles no longer have a large payload area, since explosives are so compact now.

I am not sure what kind of spine you might be referring to. A Vietnam sort of spine? Or maybe the spine that led the US to completely ignore the escalating atrocities in Cambodia?

A kinder interpretation would be 'the spine' that drove young Americans up French beaches to fight for principles which I am not convinced anybody even believes in any more.
