Title: Rev Roger, MW Sermon #2
Post by: The Good Reverend Roger on June 03, 2006, 01:19:51 AM
Greetings, my fellow freaks and mutants.  The Good Reverend has come to lay a little truth down on you; to tell you the awful facts that surround you and yours, in this dark year of 2006.  Some of what I have to say will piss you off, and maybe you won,Äôt even understand some of it, simply because it goes so far against the grain of what you,Äôve been told is good and right.

Have you noticed that your rights are shrinking, getting smaller just about every time a law is passed to ,Äúprotect,Äù us?  Have you noticed that your buying power is shrinking, and more and more jobs are leaving the country?  Have you noticed that what passes for ,Äúan independent media,Äù is actually owned by the same people that own our ,Äúelected leaders,Äù?

Now at this point, some of you are going to blame the republicans, or the democrats, or the conservatives, or the liberals.  Well, guess what, Sparky?  Those terms are totally meaningless, and have been since WWII ended.  There is only The Machine,Ñ¢, and it,Äôs fuel (which would consist of you and I).

The Machine,Ñ¢ isn,Äôt the ,Äúgovernment,Äù, or Madison Avenue, or Hollywood, or even the fundamentalist yahoos that pass themselves off for Christians.  It isn,Äôt the IRS, or the NSA, and it sure as hell isn,Äôt the CIA.  Those things might be tools or even appendages of The Machine,Ñ¢, but no more than that.

So what, you may ask, is The Machine,Ñ¢?  Why, it is nothing more than the apparatus of modern society itself.  The rude clerk at the DMV is just as much a representative of The Machine,Ñ¢ as is the incompetent boob we like to call our glorious president.  The parking Nazi with her ticket book, the CEO ripping off the pension fund, the greedy bureaucrat that makes sure it,Äôs ALL spent, even the preacher at the local church who spends his waking moments obsessing about homosexuals marrying.

Now, it,Äôs not an organized conspiracy,Ķthe left hand definitely has no clue what the right hand is doing,Ķbut it,Äôs a conspiracy all the same.  A vast confederacy of power-mongers, money-grubbers, and their dupes.

Nobody is going to do anything about it, of course.  The people you ,Äúelect,Äù are either complicit, or too mystified by the conspiracy to know what to do about it.  The democrats are convinced that the corporations have to be stopped by the government, the libertarians are convinced that the government has to be replaced by the corporations, and the GOP just giggles and rakes it in.  Their excuses are, of course, hilarious.  According to the GOP, it,Äôs all the fault of the powerless dems.  The dems will tell you that it,Äôs the GOP,Äôs fault (meanwhile, both of them are laughing behind their hands, at the idiots who still think there,Äôs any difference between the two), and the libertarians,ĶHo ho!  The libertarians,ĶThese guys will tell you that it,Äôs all about self-reliance.  If that,Äôs so, libertarians, where are your millions?  Where is your company, your Bentley, your mansion?  Sorry, suckers, you,Äôre just as lost ,Äì if not more ,Äì than the adherents of the supposed ,Äútwo,Äù major parties.

Odds are, YOU won,Äôt do anything, either.  The Good Reverend has been watching you people for quite some time now, and ,Äì quite frankly ,Äì he,Äôs disgusted.  Ever since 9/11, what has the average American done?  Sulked in fear, that,Äôs what,Ķall the while blubbering, ,ÄúTake my rights, please!  Just protect me from those terrorists.,Äù  You,Äôre supposed to be Americans for Chrissakes, not residents of some banana republic, crying out for a strongman to protect them.   And you Brits aren,Äôt much better, let me tell you,Ķdon,Äôt think The Good Reverend hasn,Äôt noticed what you,Äôre doing to your civil liberties.

And the whole thing is contagious, too.  Hell, Britain only joined in to help an old ally out, and look what,Äôs happened to them!  Fact is, the United States is a disease, a sickness that infects everything it touches.  England has joined us in our long, grinding slide towards fascism, and our corporations sell the American Nightmare all over the world.  Hell, go to friggin,Äô TIBET, and you,Äôll see some teenager drinking Coke,Ñ¢, and then he,Äôll toss the damned can on the ground, because that,Äôs what Americans do.

WAKE UP, YOU FOOLS!  It,Äôs what you can,Äôt see that sells you!  Open your Bobdamned eyes and look around you!  Does what the Conspiracy has to sell you in exchange for your soul actually bring you joy?  Has your HDTV changed your life?  Have you been enlightened by your SUV?  Will American Idol give you back your freedom?  Hell, no!  They even took your KIDS for experiments in international banking, in places like Iraq, and you SMILED and asked them for more.  Or maybe you didn,Äôt,Ķbut what the hell did you DO about it?  I,Äôll tell you what you did.  You complained about it, and pretended that bitching on an internet forum is DOING something.

,ÄúBut what can I do?,Äù, you ask, ,ÄúThey,Äôll just lock me up!,Äù  Maybe. Or maybe they won,Äôt,Ķrant all you like, just not on their networks.  But what of it?  What if they WOULD?  Guess what, Slappy,Ķwhen the founding fathers threw THEIR hissy fit, the penalty was HANGING,Ķbut they had the guts to do it anyway.  And here you are, pissing away every drop of freedom they managed to wring from the sons of bitches, way back in 1776.

Are you proud?

Are you proud to be an American?  That,Äôs almost a totally meaningless term, these days.  A term that simply denotes a group of people who giggle like idiots, while they tear down everything that was built by far, far greater people than they.  What the hell do you have to be proud about?

Your freedom?

That,Äôs a joke.  The only freedom you have left is the freedom to be a just like everyone else.  The freedom of mindless consumption.  The freedom to race for the bottom.  Congratulations.  You,Äôre free, all right.  As free as the average lemming.

This all, of course, begs the obvious question,ĶHow did they do it?  How did The Machine,Ñ¢ manage to corrupt what Lincoln called ,Äúthe last, best chance of mankind,Äù?  Easy.  By giving YOU someone to dump on, while they dump on you.  Hell, the Blacks just finally managed to get something approximating equality, and guess what?  The majority of the American Black population vehemently opposes Gay marriage, as evidenced by exit polls in the 2004 election (and by the words of their ministers, of course, but that,Äôs another matter entirely).  And it isn,Äôt just them.  More than half of America just loves to dump on the Gays,Ķand why?  So they can feel better about being dumped on themselves.

This is an old trick, obviously.  It,Äôs the same trick that the Europeans pulled on the Native Americans,Ķ,ÄùLet,Äôs you and him fight,Äù.  Cortez didn,Äôt defeat the Mexica with 900 Spaniards,Ķhe did it with 900 Spaniards and 200,000 Natives, who hated the Aztecs more than they hated the invader.  The same story can be told about the Sioux, the Lakota, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.  And it still works.  Hell, it,Äôs working on YOU.

Think about it.  The so called ,Äúliberals,Äù and ,Äúconservatives,Äù hate each other more than they hate Al Qaeda.  They,Äôve managed to demonize each other so well that they can,Äôt NOT hate each other.  Don,Äôt take my word on it,Ķever listen to Sean Hannity and Michael Moore, back to back?  They may use different jargon, but what they have to SAY is the same,Ķ,ÄùIt,Äôs the OTHER guy,Äôs fault.,Äù

If Samuel Adams and Nathan Hale were alive today, they,Äôd kick BOTH of those guys,Äô asses.  And then they,Äôd spit on the rest of you.

I can hear you so-called ,Äúliberals,Äù whining already: ,ÄúBut Rev, I protested the war!,Äù  Big freaking deal.  I have news for you, Moonbeam,Ķthis isn,Äôt the 1960s.  They don,Äôt have to pretend that they care what you think, anymore.  Protest all you like, while they take your pictures for later identification on the internment rosters.  Way to go,ĶAnd you alleged ,Äúconservatives,Äù are, of course, asking ,ÄúWhy do you hate America, Rev?,Äù  Easy.  For the same reason Jesus hated the Romans.  Chew on THAT for a while, you jingoistic drones.

But maybe you,Äôre a little too smart to be dumb, and a little too dumb to be smart, and you aren,Äôt fooled by either party or ideology, so you just swear off politics, entirely.  And this, too, is exactly what The Machine,Ñ¢ wants.

Lastly, some of you honestly won,Äôt understand what I,Äôm howling about.  ,ÄúWhat could be wrong?,Äù  you ask, as you read this on your IPod while you drink your Starbucks Venti Latte,Ñ¢, ,ÄúThings are great!  I have all this STUFF!,Äù   Well, all of that stuff is meaningless, if you aren,Äôt free.  And you, my friend, aren,Äôt.  All they have to do is kick your door in, and holler ,ÄúDRUGS!,Äù,Ķand ,Äì POOF ,Äì your house is gone, your kids are gone, and you are ,Äútaken into the system,Äù.  Even if they can,Äôt trump up charges on you, it will be years before you see daylight again, if ever.

So what can we do to save the United States from this relentless tide of ignorant yahooism?  Not a damn thing.  Sorry, it,Äôs too late to save the United States,Ķthe rot is simply too deep.  But if we,Äôre clever, and quick, we might just be able to save America (a different thing, entirely).

Now, I,Äôm not saying to grab your gun and openly revolt.  That would be stupid, because NOBODY does violence like The Machine,Ñ¢.  Tossing yourself under its clattering treads won,Äôt help a damn thing,Ķyou,Äôll be a two-minute blurb on the teevee, and you,Äôll be just another reason that The Machine,Ñ¢ needs to ,Äúprotect,Äù the population (which, incidentally, wouldn,Äôt dream of rising up with you.  Quite the opposite, in fact.  We have no shortage of ignorant, complacent fools and crypto-fascists).  Don,Äôt let the opposition choose the battlefield, nor should give it the choice of weapons.

No, there is a better way.  The revolution has already begun, using tactics that are just as goofy as they are effective.  A revolution that can,Äôt be struck back against, because it is intentionally just as amorphous as The Machine,Ñ¢ itself.

And that, my friends, shall be the subject of next issue,Äôs sermon.

Or Kill Me.

Two things spring to mind after reading this rant.

1) TGRR is the major reason I signed up over at POEE and, by proxy, over here.

2) Now would be a real bad time for someone to follow up on the "Or Kill Me" line, since the next rant promises to be good.

A copy of this will definitely wind up pinned to the 6th form notice board after my next exam.

Good job, Roger. I don't give a damn about the ole' USA, but its all-too-easy to see how changing a few names and references, the same is true over here.

Oh I won't be editting it at all- the way I see it, the ones who would actually be interested and take something from it would be likely to draw the comparisons pretty easily themselves.

Point.

My only request is that you attach my name to it, cuz I'm vain that way.

Hmmm...it'll need a title, though.

How about "Shut Up or Stand Up"?

All i can come up with is "FUUUUCK YOOOOOOOOOO!" when pondering on teh machine, and (choke) the amerkan way but thats scarcley an intelegent, or coherent rant.

It's all a matter of practice.  If you want to learn how to rant, rant.

When I look around now, with these things in mind, all I see is people moving and flapping their jaws and totally forgetting about most of this last decade. Or the last 2 months of the Bush Administration.

It may be that the situation demanded certain things, and I may be just as human as any of those pigfuckers (cabbages, zombies), but GODDAMN THESE SPINELESS BASTARDS.

ALL OF THEM.

Stupid FUCKING monkeys.

It hard to rant about The Terrible Shit when no one even recalls the events which fueled the rage.
