So, going on the premise of you only being able to use 6,
the 3 I would not choose are

Casino Night--not crazy about the blurred effect
Plastic--again seems to be some blur going on
Matrix--no blur but less appealing to me compared to the other 6.

I'd go with 8, 4 and the Plastic one.

I personally like casino night....

Dunno, but it's kind of charming.

I like Juicy, it's pleasing to the eye.

ditch surreal, juicy and matrix

Surreal is annoying wobble

Juicy could be good if you matted the airbrush stuff (basically you already have with plastic) it's giving it a bit too much blur and the clean edges are nicer

matrix is a disaster (sorry best I could do) Animated it might be fun but not on a teeshirt.

Rest are top notch.

Wonder what these are for cos casino night is the bizness but might come out shit on screenprint

This is for a t-shirt?

If so, #9 hands down

its for a course im taking

had to re-build a pre-existing logo in illustrator, then had to transfer it to photoshop and throw effects on it

outer space has the most reward if you examine it

that one took a while

Thought so, what with the layered starscape and such.  Good stuff.

More people should post thier homework.

i will figure it out

im actually coming across some ill effects while im at it

the keys are this:
in photoshop:

turn the image into a mosaic
Filter > Pixelate > Mosaic

then find the edges
Filter > Stylize > Find Edges

i just cant remember how to go from the Edge result to turning it into those small dots

cant remember which filter

itll come

no doubt

then just hit Ctrl + 'I' to invert it - and youll start to see how that light effect developed

i don't like:

- surreal, cause i think the wobbly effect is too cheesy. if you were going for the dali "liquid watches" style, better hand tweak the warping instead of using a preset?

- casino night. i like the concept, is very good, but it looks to me like, well, just as you say, mosaic, edge detect, invert, some sort of diamond blur filter. i would rather create the same effect with some handywork, make a golden night shiny version of the logo, then add the shiny bling bling diamonds by hand.
but maybe this is my personal view sort of. for a bunch of filters, the end result is quite impressive (in fact i've tried to make this effect out of some filters once, and failed miserably)

- matrix i don't like for similar reasons to casino night, it's too obvious it's just a bunch of filters.

i really like the outer space logo. the starry background on the dark parts reminds me of the Silver Surfer comics, and goes really well with the muscle/shiny appearance of the man in the logo. maybe make the stars white blotches a bit bigger--take a good look at those silver surfer comics, especially some of the godlike beings in that comic (forgot what they were called) have pretty much the same half-translucent-starry effect.

the others were also good because they didn't have too much "frills" on them.

in general, i like the logo itself also very much. did you design it, or is it from an actual basketball team?
