A couple in there I haven't heard of.
tism-everyone has had more sex than me
:lulz: thats the best song name ever
Atari Teenage Riot! Holy smokes I completely forgot that I liked that band, and I had no idea they had anything to do with eris :P
Excellent, thanks for the linkage Cain, much teenage memories to be relieved :D
um yeah, what do they have to do with discordianism anyway?
i kinda always thought alec empire was a pretentious prick shouting "we must destroy ze guvernmant! ze revolootion zstarts heer!"
especially when he released a solo album with gameboy music called "nintendo teenage robots" which was awful (though maybe it was a joke)
I think it may just be more their general attitude than anything else.
hmmm "delete yourself" as a metaphor for the BIP? :)
Oh my. I would have hoped for a much better list.
The lack of Pere Ubu feels wrong.
Pigface fucking sucks.
adn where the fuck is Mindless Self Indulgence?
Indeed! I mean, the very name "Mindless Self Indulgence" is occasionally the best descriptor we have for what we're doing. :D
Where is the download button?
There are a few on that list that I would say maybe to, but most either don't have the message or don't have the popularity that would be needed.
I am a bit too lazy to think about it right now, but MSI fits, in my opinion (but isn't listed). Skinny Puppy does not (although Ogre did that cover of "Downtown", and has been stuck in my head since watching that episode of Lost that featured it, and so, while not exactly Skinny Puppy, this seems to work). Throbbing Gristle and such, maybe. Atari Teenage Riot just sucks.
I feel that the masses must have an interest or at least knowledge of it so that it has a chance of getting to those who aren't looking for that sort of shit. I am still curious about the idea or intention behind "Coma Black" by Marilyn Manson, more because of the names rather than the song itself, however if it brings attention to Eris...
A list of Discordian music groups and musicians, and they leave out Wesley Willis.
Surely a bigger, more comprehensive list could be compiled by someone with too much free time.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to supply me with mp3s for use on my podcast (or give me permission to play them), please feel free. All I really have so far by you guys is stuff by The Empties, 20 Years Scars and Ear Fatigue, but I'm going to download some more stuff today.
you're welcome to any of my stuff that you find relevant or playable. I know my stuff tends to be a bit long, and um, acquired taste, but you're welcome to it nonetheless.
Cheers. I'm just saving your stuff to hard drive now, actually. I'm sure I'll find some use for it... 8)
I've got a few tracks from The Deciders I'm finishing up. If you have a multiply account, I'll put them up there, or I'll just MiHD it.
Just signed up to Multiply today, in fact. You'll find my account easily enough.
Incidentally, when I went on my downloading spree, I picked up Suggestion 1.0 from the Back in My Day playlist. Would you have any objections to me using this as my background music? I think it would fit well, certainly better than what I have considered so far. And of course, I'll plug your Multiply.

Go for it. I'm gonna be tweaking that a little, but only in minor ways (eq, levels), but the current version should be fine for your purposes.

Here´s some disco shit from hell by The Toilet
http://squalorbase.com/bulldozer/bbc_skiva/toilettest/
oh. i just saw this an old post. but i have the sponge bubble hat so it is all good.
OK, that's a good selection from the world of modern music.
How about some of Frank Zappa's early stuff? "Who Are The Brain Police?", "It Can't Happen Here", and "The Return of the Son of Monster Magnet" are all totally Discordian tunes...for that matter, John Cage's "4'33"' is more than a bit Discordian for not really being anything at all...syadasti, syannasti...
guess they should be mentioned somewhere.

These guys posted on here way back in the day, I think
and were flamed off I think
Anyway, I always liked their music.

Well, The list referred to in the O.P. could have included a hell ton more artists and did include more than a few which made me think - REALLY? - But honestly, I don't want to hear the official guidelines on what music IS/ ISN'T "Discordian", I think there's a vast chasm of opinion which just IS WHAT IT IS. However, I thought it odd that the music hooligans NEGATIVLAND were not included, they're basically the Church of the Subgenius house band, after all.

I don't get the impression that any lists about Discordia are "official"
I somehow only managed to get exposed to this band this week.
Laibach. I've been sort of obsessing for the last couple of days. This might be bit old for you.. What do you think of them? Doesn't exactly scream discordian to the surface, but they've definitely caused a lot of confusion..

This is freaking weird. I was just thinking about John Cage's performance/"musical" piece four minutes and 33 seconds ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4'33" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4'33") ) today. Then I saw this post. I haven't heard anyone refer to Cage for a while, so it seemed a little weird. I thought about posting that here, but didn't get around to it.
But right now I was listening to The Acousmatic Theater Hour with Jason G and Karinne at radio WFMU.org and they talked about John Cage.
Synchronicity.

Ok girl, touchy, touchy. By official I only meant I'm not interested in GUIDELINES as to "WHAT IS" or "WHAT IS NOT". I think what I stated is pretty clear. Furthermore, I exemplify my own opinion by not whining about any specific bands (TOOL?!), I simply stated that I didn't necessarily see it. My intention here is, "hey, I'm open to whatever, let's hear it"... My comment is in regards to NEGATIVLAND. Or the absence there of. I like the idea of this thread, being very into music, myself. Oh, and yes, I referred to an 'official' whatever, because the list of "discordian" music offers a definition, CRAM. Also, what, in your words, is "official"?
This counts as Discordian music, right?

I never realized that YouTube had a policy against hate speech. Here's a working link:
http://www.heavy.com/video/70925
as far as I know Iason they don't
but if theres a flagging campaign against a video they will take it down
If enough people complain they will reinstate it
In other words
they don't know what the fuck they are doing half the time
