Calvin and Hobbes. The comic strip. now that is discordian literature
lol
I haven't gotten to Calvin and Hobbes yet, I'm currently studying dilbert cartoons.
But the best cartoons are still those once created by Gary Lawson (I think this is the correct name, I keep confusing this one with Scott Adams), you know... Those one-pane cartoons with "the far side" written on top of it... They are da Bomb!
BOOYEW!
Dilbert is ok, but it can't comapre to the genius that is clavin and hobbes...
All of the above are fine Discordian comics. Too bad that Lawson retired...
The Far Side is above and beyond any other comic.... try and find old ones from the early 80's.. (look in used book stores for the collections)... if I could ever find that one about mating rituals again i would kill for it.... KILL!....
is it Gary Lawson or Larson?... I'm not in the mood to go look...
Larson
my bad...
Always trust your own memory first
My fave was the Transmografier
what about the reverse-transmografier?
Calvin and Hobbes was awesome.
and so is spacemoose.
I used to have anthologies of the Far Side, plenty of the books. As a kid I would read a book of those every night just before I went to bed. Laugh myself to sleep.
I used to love stuff like the Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes. Now, most of the syndicated crap is...well...crap. I like the Boondocks, though.
I'm more into webcomics now, though. Like Something Positive (http://www.somethingpositive.net), Sinfest (http://www.sinfest.net), Wigu (http://www.wigu.com), and Diesel Sweeties (http://www.dieselsweeties.com). Among assorted others.
On a side note...
Anybody play Calvin Ball?
We're trying to have a game this weekend.
If other people in the country play, perhaps there is a future for a game.
A league maybe?
Also, Wigu is awesome... but webcomics of choice for me have always been
www.spacemoose.com
www.angryflower.com
www.plif.com
Unfortunately, I think spacemoose is down.
My favorite webcomic is still 8-bit theatre
http://www.nuklearpower.com
But then again... It's hard not to like this one if you're a final fantasy addict like me
And Elftor is teh roxxorz
http://elftor.com/
calvinball? is that like LARP nomic or something like that? i think i read a post about it on 23ae.com
Larp?!
Ha!
Its game that involves a ball, and bandannas (the bandannas are key).
You make up the rules as you go along.
oh, okay lol
reverse the transmorgued?
smock
dont mock my smock.
Ahh webcomics...
My favourite would have to be user friendly...
It's a fun, fun comic about the misadventures of a group of geeks working for an internet service provider...

and here's an interesting single-panel-sunday for you...

yeah! that one! He rocks :P
Calvin and Hobbes was awesome because bill watterson actually had some fucking cojones. He resisted the corporate machine for as long as he could, but eventually he had to give in (hence the calvin bumper stickers these days.)
In the old days, I also really liked Bloom County (AKA outland) and even some Doonesbury (being a huge Hunter S. Thompson fan, I ((sort of)) idolized Duke.)
Bloom County!!!
Fnord County?!!!??...?!?!??????
Yes, THIS is how PD started out.
:lulz:
LOL :lulz:
Are we going to discuss Calvin and Hobbes, as well as ridicule the past?

Knock yourself out. I'm a huge fan, myself.

The Far Side
Calvin and Hobbes
Bloom County
I was raised on these things. They made me the weirdo I am today.

I used to read it every single day but gave it up years ago. I should dive through the archives.
