You are not supposed to be here. You are a cosmic fluke of the universe. You are an accident of epic proportions. Figuring the odds of your existence would require more decimals places than a normal pocket calculator would allow. Just determining the odds of life forming on earth is enough to make your head reel.
And yet, you are still here. Not because of fate or destiny or karma. You are here because someone had to be here. Something had to exist eventually and it might as well be you. We exist in defiance of the universe.
And believe it or not, that is a good thing. The universe doesn't get to tell us why we exist or what we are supposed to do while we are here. We get to make our own purpose and our own paths. Fuck anyone who tries to get in our way.
We are the Children of Chaos. Born of Disorder. Against the odds and because of the odds.
i used to think that the universe was infinite: therefore every conceivable thing must exist somewhere in it.
not necessarily true or even logical... but maybe?
am too supposed to be here = this is my house! [/wank]

rah!
Interesting.
So what draws us here and to other like minded places across the www?
Aren't we, just like every other monkey on the planet, looking for answers to questions we're not sure how to ask?

I've always loved that piece by you, but it wasn't exactly the inspiration for mine. You were talking solely about Discordians while I am talking about EVERYBODY. I was trying to distill existentialism while adding a dash of science. I was attempting to riff on the Creationists' claim that since the odds of us coming about by pure chance are [INSERT RIDICULOUS ODDS HERE] means that there is some Giant Sky Daddy who really really loves us
(but will send us to hell if we eat shrimp).
This is relevant to my interests.
